Need some war help. Analyze my clan please.

We are really struggling since the update. 3 wars so far. The first two were awful matches. The third was closer but were still facing engineers and in the end they got us by a couple stars. Here's our lineup. Take a look and tell me who we can take to war to get the best odds of a good match. We have a great clan. Many of us clashing for 3 years plus together from around the world. War has been the thing that brings us together but many are losing interest due to engineering. We have 48/50 filled.

Max th11s - 9 *No one is fully maxed but these all have max defense, might lack a few lab upgrades, max heroes, lots of lv 11 walls.

Mid th11 - 7

th10.5 - 1 (max point defenses, wiz and mortar), max offense and heros

th10.5 - 1 (tried to sort of engineer. lv1 infernos, near max heros, mostly th10 levels on defense, several th11 offense upgrades)

th10.5 - 1 (early on in th11 hasn't dropped eagle but is dropping other new defenses and started upgrading defenses)

th10.5 - (not intentionally 10.5 just upgraded to 11 and hasn't dropped new stuff yet)

Max th10 - 1 (hold out on upgrading but think he will start th11 soon)

Mid th10 - 3

early th10 - 5

engineered th10 - 1 (th8 defense with th10 offense)

rushed th10 - 1 (not terribly rushed. Has all the defenses just not up th10 levels yet)

near max th9 (solid heros, lab done, defense done, working on walls and heroes) - 5

mid th9 - 2

early th9 - 5

th8.5 - 1

th8 - 1

rushed th7 - 1 (doesn't war, mini there for donations, leaves when clan fills)

None of those bases seem bad for a line up, but if you don't have enough good attackers in to offset the not so good, that is where you can get into trouble. It seems kind of top heavy.

You should make sure you have enough players in that can potentially 3 star every base. Try taking your better 11's to war and slowly add in the others until you get a doable balance.

What did you try taking?

With 20 th11s i would leave out the long tail. Nothing below a decent th9. You could even try without th9s for 1 war to test

What problem are you facing? Enemy more th11s? If yes, does it seem they are getting those due to your 10.5s or do they have low weight at the bottom and/or are the extra th11s really engineered?

Onyx, and 222, you guys are doing great. Just thought I would say that. The GASP title fits you well!

Great questions posed by OnyxDS and 2222 but let me offer some perspective from an engineer - your lineup is ripe to match with clans running 9.11's...

Without knowing a lot of details of each base, I'd go with Onyx and say that you should lose the low TH's because that is how engineered clans find you...

The problem we are facing is we draw engineers. One of our post update wars had 11 more wardens in the lineup than we did. They had lots of 9.5 and10.5 bases. The 9.5 bases with max walls and defenses are just too hard for our th9s. The th10.5 bases similarly were tough but we did a little better with those. We tried one war with no engineered bases on our end thinking that would help but we got another engineered clan. This past war really wasn’t bad, comparatively. We actually had a slight advantage up top. We had 4 more eagles. But they had equal offense. Down low their bases were just way stronger. 9.5s compared to our 9s. We made it a close war but still wouldn’t consider it a great match.

An advantage up top is about as good as it gets, given everyone has 2 attacks. So I wonder what you would think was a great match? The absolute ideal to me is a fair war where every base in the lineup looks across at a mirror identical to itself. That never happens of course, as there is so much variation between bases and clans. What's your ideal of a great match (irrespective of real pool considerations)?

The past war sounds like it was a pretty good match. Your th9s should 3 star the enemy th9.5s and your th10s should clean up on any that were not destroyed. You had the advantage up top, which is where most want the advantage and will take a low disadvantage in exchange. As far as wars in general and matching engineered th11s, it seems this is an ongoing problem for large wars with th11s in them, even after the change. Many people are reporting similar problems, facing twice as many th11s.

Thanks! I'm not really trying to do anything different than before. I try to help where I can, although on many subjects there are many here much more knowledgeable than me.
