I don't think they should remove it, but they should definitely amend the way the bans work. There are a lot of people who say highly inappropriate and vulgar things in chat who should be reported. I think the reports should be reviewed by game moderators who then impose suspensions and bans on repeat offenders. Something like:
First offense: 3 day suspension
Second offense: 7 day suspension
Third offense: 30 day suspension
Fourth offense: account closed
I would add that the builders would all stop their upgrades until the suspension is over, but that would probably be too much extra for sc to do.
Just curious if anyone posting to this thread has ever viewed the dialogue posted continuously in global on an un-named android knockoff game. Without a punitive function of any kind other than mute, I would be afraid global chat degraded into that, with only a small minority of people having anything useful and inoffensive to say. Sure, you could mute until your eyes fell out of your head, and then be left with the 1 other person in the world with enough patience to mute to that extent with the hopes of finding you to speak to. Coming from android and playing that game briefly, I found the global chat in CoC a welcome relief to the incessant spamming of mindless, depraved players across the world. It's been said that these people will stop when they realize they are talking to themselves ... I submit that they will not! As all these people posting the the knockoff game posted incessantly with extremely few responses.
At least the report button gives people hesitation before lavishly throwing rude and pointless comments out there in bulk, just to watch it fly down the screen with the rest of them, and post it again. I don't believe that report should be removed, but perhaps there should be another method implemented to either A) provide punitive measures for abusing the report button, or B) buffering its impact so that no one person can ban a player from global.
Obviously A would be the more challenging option. You'd have to do more than a simple logic analysis based on what was said in the post with the report mark. But there may be some way to accomplish this without undue resources, though I cannot say what that might be.
I think mute is a great way to silence any conversation which does not interest you ... not just the offensive ones, which I still believe its' poster should be removed from global chat, so that everyone can meet in a common, peaceful room without needing to view a screen full of disrespectful comments every time the open the global window.
yes i would like the report button removed because we can just report what the problem on the forums
Theres at least 100,000 players that quit solely to the reason that the report button is there. Imagine if they all returned now, wanting a share of the loot. Sometimes, an update which is actually good can cause more harm in a different part of the game, that is what we are seeing here.
Banned after saying nothing but "hello"
