This current match making system is taking offense too much into count - giving a clan with higher heroes (and lower defenses) a match against an enemy #1 that has lower heroes and higher defense -- is NOT a fair match... Does that enemy with lower heroes have a 'fair chance' to 3 star you? maybe. do you with your higher heroes have a 'fair' chance to 3 star his harder defenses? maybe.. but it is certainly not fair -- Thats like saying -- ok Clan #1 has to three star a bunch of easy th9's this war -- while clan #2 has to three star a bunch of max tens and 10.5's... THATS FAIR because one clan has higher offense'
-no.. thats not fair... I say that fair would be each clan having an equal level of defenses on both sides of the war and a decent chance to get 100% This all comes down to a definition of 'whats fair' -- Is it fair that one clan has higher offense? No- not really - but - the clan with lower offense could have simply chosen to do their offense first... they didnt - they still have a reasonable chance to 3 star the top - its just not as easy for them-- so that is a conscious choice that the PLAYER made that put the player at a disadvantage. This current war system takes the control away from the player and puts it into a matching system that is secretive, inaccurate and inconsistent. *Giving one clan a crazy defensive advantage over another is not fair at all.
A player who chooses to keep wars at a lower difficulty because they enjoy easier wars, have less skill and experience - or for whatever reason - should be capable of building their account in a way that allows them to play against players that they choose to play against.
Taking this power out of the hands of the players - and putting this decision into the hands of a random war match generation system is hurting a lot of people. Especially when the war match system can never return accurate results; each war is different and lop sided in one way or another every time.
Base the wars off of DEFENSES primarily. THAT is the simple easy to understand way of doing it. If players choose to make the decision to skip offense, or rush defenses and get themselves harder wars - then they get what they deserve. If players choose to focus on offense first while keeping defenses low - so that they can get easier wars - then they should also get what they ask for.
If Maxer clans dont want to see these light th9 weighted defensive players that have th11 offense - then they should max their defenses to town hall 10 or 11 levels and BOOM.. problem solved... they will never see those light weight engineered clans again.
The war match system from 380 days ago; last july 2016 was as close to perfect as it ever was. For all the months of the end of 2015 through the beginning of 2016 - ALL WARS were PERFECTLY matched weight to weight-- the top players in every clan of any type had identical weighted values across their top few players.
AT WORST one war out of 15 or 20 you would have a 15k or 20k mis match on enemy #1 and only if that clan used a million th3 accounts on bottom... rare back then.
-The fix is simple.
MAKE the weights public knowledge - educate the players on how to properly play the game
Take away the secrets
Take away the complicated match algoryithms.
Match the clans based off their strongest defenses - if clans want to have 100% draws every war rather than loose -- let them have a completely white war log... thats their choice.
If a clan does not ever want to see an xbows, inferno or eagle in a war - then they should not be matching against th9 th10 or 11 clans if they think they are not ready for it yet.
You should have 4 classifications for war.
1- th8below
2-th9 below
3- th10below
and 4 - max bases and lower
A clan war should be classified in one of these four tiers and the match system can easily figure that out within seconds -- your war search screen will tell you which tier your in - and have a button to click if you think its WRONG to have a supercell rep take a look at it and have an educated discussion with your leader on things...
(since all war matching info would be made public - it will not be complicated or confusing)
Simply tell players what they should upgrade first -- tell them what is the most valuable - what is the least valuable - what your company holds to be the higher and lower weight items...
The smart clashers have figured it out ... all the casual players are at a disadvantage...
sorry for the long post; This is NOT a suggestion - its a conversation.
*all this aside, I can see that in the war changes of last fall, supercell nerfed minimax, along with people who had upgraded miners on a rushed th10 - they targeted specific players with a nerf...
This update they have targeted other specific players with another nerf - those with higher offense and lower defense - again - are being singled out and are being given crazy hard mirrors in war -- those th11's that used to match against 9's are now getting max th10's at 90k as a mirror instead of 70k max 9's. This is completely un fair considering most of those engineered 11's have town hall 8 or lower defenses and you have basically made their entire account obsolete.
Supercell did not want to ruin anyone's style of game play...
-but they removed town hall snipes to hurt the defenseless
-they increased loot penalties in multiplayer vs lower town halls
-they added a new shield system that requires X % of damage over Y # of deployed troops before yo you get a shield (many light weight semi defenseless bases now would never get a shield again)
*Generally all these engineered accounts were made solely and completely for war -- they were still great in war.. so you suffered through the 'rest' of the game because you knew -- once war hit - you could easily get 3 stars 10 spaces above your mirror.... wars were fun and easy.
NOW -- supercell has decided to go after these accounts in WAR and punish them there as well by taking away their only advantage... Now a casual engineer account will NEVER defend vs mirror -- will never 3 star vs mirror (they tend to have less skill - were using the higher offense to lower the game difficulty so they could actually 3 star and have fun) - now they are being given max th10 mirrors with 89/90k weight that they have to 3 star;; when they can barely 3 star th9 bases that have xbows...
(yes I know quite a few players -- who have GEMMED a complete th11 with max heroes and max offense - who have 45/45/20 heroes and 100% max troops - on a th7/8 defenseive base -- who struggle to 3 star th9's... not saying anything mean about them - they are nice people - I've known some of them for YEARS... and yes they paid THOUSANDS of dollars to buy these accounts; and now find themselves unable to war because of these changes.
Supercell is shooting itself in the foot, hurting players who gem - players who plan - and players who simply want to enjoy a game that is simple and fun.
PERSONALLY - the level of complexity in this game - the fact that you have a 5 year upgrade plan that can be nerfed by the developers on a yearly cycle of 'oops, lets change everything cause its not working' has become a bit tiring.
-I know a smart engineer can still get aroudn this war match system... I've seen clans doing it still -- I've personally succeeded in roster engineering wars that the enemy can not win - under todays current system... using my newer gen of accounts that I started a few months ago when I forsaw changes...
I will basically have to abandon many of my first accounts -- due to these changes they have become obsolete... Sure I could spend 3 years maxing defenses on them... and do hard th11 wars.... but thats not my thing.. I enjoy nice easy fast th9 below kind of wars; those th10's and 11's can enjoy pounding their chest and saying how tough they are.. I'll stand back and watch once in a while...
-The developers need to realize that every time you make major changes you hurt tons of players... and the ones your trying to help ; are not getting helped.. the engineered people will just make new accounts and start over and get around things again.
--PErhaps that is your goal as a company... have people abandon the accounts, start over and re gem? -- maybe some will.. personally I've spent about 1300 in gems on my first few accounts.. I wont spend another penny until the supercell company makes some very public changes and becomes much more transparent with the product they are peddling.
/wow wall of text. done. sorry for the one or two that read this. I hope its succinct and to the point.
