Oh :saywhat: Please keep posting so we know you're ok. I know a few players Texas, but I'm not sure exactly where they are in relation to Harvey's path :(
Prayers for Texas. The devastation is widespread and will take a very very long time to recover from. I have several players on my friends list in Texas. I have touched base with as many as I could.
I hope everyone is ok.
The problem with this storm is that it is between a high pressure system coming from the northwest and a high pressure system coming from southeast... making Harvey a very slow moving storm.
.. it just kinda hovers and dumps rain. Houston is on the wet side of the storm...This morning they have started controlled flooding by releasing water from reservoirs.
Because there are so many people that need help to get out of flooded areas, people are using their personal boats to help rescue people... As I'm typing this, I just received an Emergency Alert on my phone about flash flooding in our area.
.. My friend just texted me to say that the street that she lives on is starting to flood...
Gotta go for now... will write more later....
Best wishes for you Sugaz, and all of our friends in the affected areas. This thing is going to take a long time to recover from.
Hope everyone's okay <3
I'm watching the news, it's mostly about one of the areas that didn't expect flooding, but is now getting flooded due to the reservoirs being released (I didn't quite catch the name of the town, but it sounded like Kaydee/Katie). One poor woman is in bits because she could rescue one cat & one dog, but her other cats are in crates :( Lots of scared & upset people :(
The reporter (British, unfortunately) is asking really helpful things like - 'So, you've lost absolutely everything you own, everything! How do you deal with that?' The American woman just looked at her and said 'I have no idea, it's just happened'. (With a very clear look of 'You absolute %^#%^%% IDIOT). Well done her.
Thanks for the giggle SmallChange... unfortunately, there are local reporters asking the same dumb questions... These poor people just want to get someplace safe and dry and reporters are sticking mics in their faces asking stupid questions...
The town that you are talking about is Katy, TX. Katy kinda butts up against the west end of Houston...
Thinking of you all who are in the midst of such devastation. 🙏🏼😘
We live in an area that has floods from time to time and it is terrifying. I have not seen one like yours.
Stay safe.😘
We are getting ready for a big storm where I am too. Best wishes to you guys.
