Does it make sense to hunt for puzzle pieces?

Does it make sense to hunt for puzle pieces? I was trying to hunt for puzzle pieces today so I opened many treasury boxes with gems. Non of them contained any puzzle pieces. I also filled many boots and skipped the waiting time with gems, but again no puzzle pieces. So I really start to wonder if puzzle pieces are randomly spread over all the boats and boxes or is there a time limitation? Is it possible to get more puzzle pieces if you open more boxes with gems and fill more boats are do you simply have to wait until SC provides you with a puzzle piece? I really get the feeling that I get fouled here. It is like buying 10 lottery tickets without a chance on winning more prices then when you buy one ticket.

That's a 5% chance of getting a puzzle piece. Some players have the diamonds to burn and like opening lockboxes. I wouldn't do it, the math doesn't add up for me. Each his own.

Well no. You only get 2 PP boats after the mailman comes when the derby ends. So after those 2 you won't get another one no matter how many boats you fill. For the tool boxes I would also say give up. Since the update I have probably gotten 2 PPs in tool boxes. So I say don't forget to check them but definitely don't use diamonds.

My question is however if it is randomly spread over all the lockboxes or do you not get a second puzzle piece if you recently had one? Same for boats. I filled today something like 10 boats and I got no puzzle pieces. I have the feeling that there is a time limitation on the puzzle pieces.

Thanks for the clear answer. I already got the feeling I got fooled.

I don't think the puzzle pieces are spread evenly in the red boxes. I got 2 in the same hour or so a few weeks ago, but have not seen one since. Simply luck of the draw at small odds.

You can tell if a boat will give a puzzle piece. Look for the big puzzle piece on the boat ramp. Only those boats will give puzzle pieces.

And to agree with others, I never spend diamonds to open a red box. I do search each farm carefully for them
.. if my turn to get something, then great.

There is no challenge and nothing to work for in puzzle pieces. 2 boats, 2 horseshoes and maybe the odd red box each week. Just sit it out and you'll eventually get the animals. Don't waste diamonds!

Adding to the great advice you've already got...

The sanctuary doesn't gain you much. The animals themselves are cute, but give few rewards. I've still got only one animal, and it gives me 25 points when I wake it up. Once I got a plank.

There aren't very many townies who want to see them, and when one does, the prizes aren't all that great. I've mostly gotten axes, saws, and the odd mining item.

So even if you could find puzzle pieces regularly, I'm not sure it's worth spending diamonds.
