Lightning rod

Hi all, I've been playing coc for over a year now. People have come and gone but I still enjoy the game apart from one little thing! i will get to that in a moment. I've spent this year playing coc on my iPhone & ipad building my base up and making it good at certain stuff like defence of my resources etc. I farm like everyone does ie attack bases to take the loot. With that said I normally 3 star most bases taking the loot. So here is my growing hate of this part of the game. How come im a TH10 that has spent a year on this game growing my defence to protect my much loved and saved resources to have my dark elixir stolen by a much lower opponent with only lightning spells! To date I've had thousands stolen never to be given the chance to revenge why would I when 1600+ Dark stuff was taken to get back 100-200 de back its just not worth the troops. Plus thats only at 50k I will soon need 200k if I ever make a king or queen lv 40. I can hardly get past 20!

So I looked this up on google. Im not alone in this argument with many ideas to try sort this. Ie the lightning rod. I LOVE THIS!!!!! What a great idea put it next to de storage or whatever else to take away that option. Ah I can switch off my game and not be robbed blind by a level 50 with TH8 taking thousands over night setting me back days.

I've also seen folk at lower TH levels moan "well how am I supposed to get my DE I have no drill" em let me think..... Farm other players by attacking within the base and take it! Not by dropping a few cheap spells on it taking thousands.

Please please please supercell look at these posts and take some notice. This is killing the game for players who have been playing for a long time.

Yes, I agree that there should be a lightning rod, or at least something to discourage lightning on DE storages.

Now... what trophy range are you in? I heard that if you go up in trophies, to like 1600 or something, it happens less often.

Also, who cares if the people who attacked you only have like 200 DE to give back? I wouldn't. You normally 3-star people; do it to them and make them regret taking your DE.

No one has ever Pikachu'ed my DE storage, but judging by the amount of complaints there are, it's probably really annoying. I shall support your idea!:D

Take comfort that your dark elixir has helped many players level their barb king and upgrade their dark troops are lower townhalls. It is you th10s that allow us lowers to be able to get the 100Ks of DE needed for our upgrades.

That being said, I just raided a th10 and stole nearly 5K DE. God I love TH10s.

Im at 1600-1700 I find this an easy farming area. Your lucky the worst hits ive had yet have been 6k over a night. Pushing my T's up when I log on to see how many attacks ive had over night. Again not 1 made it inside my walls! They can't my defies too good. YOUR SO LUCKY it won't be long till you get hit.

Forgot to post im a LV 104 Town Hall 10 player. So you can see why this gets annoying when hit by level 50 players with spells.

You said it. Why move to a higher town hall? A higher townhall should be progression not a downside!

It probably will, but I'll tell you right now that I won't complain about it like all the others on this forum. Accept it as part of the game, farm more than you lose a night, place townhall outside for shields, or climb up higher in trophies where it doesn't occur as much.

i don't get why you have to be ♥♥♥♥♥♥ off at something as little as getting pikachu'd
as a th 7 and 8 i used that as well im sure u have done it too
i had 16 lightning spells dropped on my de storage last night im not even mad

Im not a low level thats just started. I've played from the start. My TH is outside, I farm at 1600-1700 thats not the problem. The problem is that low level players with no army can take thousands. Of course your not going to complain cause your benefiting out of it.

Give us the lightning rod plz SC so us TH10's can smoke these low level players. As we should be able to as we have put the time in.......

If low level players can find you, then your trophy count is too low.

to the @op go to crystal league and be done with this. no one will lightning attack your DE there.

I just don't get how it's ok for someone to attack guys much lower then him and then complain about being lightning attacked.

How much did u get taken off u? If your saving for say the queen 200k and get thousands taken off putting u back day a week. Would u be annoyed then??? YES of course u would be! Not arguing making a point.

Jiggy, you are a sporting person. Kudos to you for your big heart.

16 lightning at my DE, I definitely will be a little mad, but surely not whine about it as it just part of the game. This game is about raiding resources, be it by troops or spells. Just farm the DE back will be a better use of time than complaining.

The thing is if you want to farm in a easy farming range which happen to be a lightning prone zone, please bear with the lightning. You can't have everything in life... or in a game...

Its called progression. Put the time in and build better defences. Plus there is a percentage loss when attacking lower levels to put players off attacking them.

Ok I've been farming DE big style for the last few weeks and just as you, started to get hit quite regularly with Thor. But not so much anymore, infact in the last week Its only happened twice not bad considering I've had around 30k of the stuff just sitting there.

My best advice is
As has been already said its your cups level and also maybe your choice of target thats causing you the problems. I remember back to when I was saving for my level 1 king and Th9/10 players would regularly come along and smash up my town with minimum hassle for the few hundred dark they could take, it was all too easy for them really and totaly impossible in every way to revenge them, except of course by using Thor on their dark stores. So thats precisely what I did, I had no other option to get back at them.

If Th10 players want to get less of these types of attacks, they should raise cups to over 1600 or better still crystal+ were Th10's belong and no pesky TH7 may follow. This go's to all larger farmers, stop attacking those that cant attack back in any other way. You say it is ruining the game, the TH7 players probably feel the same about TH10 players farming them.

Sorry if this advice comes across as a bit agressive on my part, I would just like players to be a little bit more empathic before posting.

TH10 cannot profit a th7 base, yet they can lightning de us. I dont mind getting lightning on my de since I dont face the problem in the higher trophies, but if we revenge we cannot do much to them which I think is unfair. Getting lightning in my de and lose 3-5k de, and revenge for 5k gold/exiler 1de?

Something should be change, not dramatically though like a lightning rod. Maybe revenges should have NO LOOT PENALTY. Its revenge common!

my idea of progression is going to where you belong. The main idea of this game as i have understood it - mind you i am playing for nearly a year now, besides having fun is - getting higher cups and being one of the highest players, clans in the game.

for that to happen you upgrade your defenses, for that to happen you gain loot by attacking other players.

now you the player have a choice you either go to lower cups than your fellow nearly same level players to get more gold and elixir, or you go to same level as your fellow players to get gold/elixir and DE. The loot at around 1500-1800 was good. Easy bases, get 300k/300k but DE was low. As i have upgraded most of my defenses and upgrading takes too much time i need more DE than ever for my BK and AQ, so i went to crystal league.

This is progression and as a fellow player you should probably try the same.

Just my 2 cents.

I like it. Your exactly right we get hit for thousands. Why because they know they can hit us and its not worth our while hitting back.

Yes as others have pointed out. Rise to masters or something but thats where gem monkeys live. I don't gem its a free game. In order to make the 6.4 mil for new mortar upgrades I need to make cash. Again I hit players who have said loot. ie TH10 or maybe 9's as they have the loot and have poor def as they have more than likely gemed to there current TH. easy pickings or empty bases.

Its not worth my while attacking a TH7 there aint enough loot in it.

I like the idea of a lightning rod. At higher levels. Would stop this once and for all.

Oh how this post just oozes with hypocrisy. :D

How about this? A lightning rod that only works if you are 2000 trophy or more. Once you go down, it deactivate and people are free to light your DE.

In this case, no low level people can light your DE provided you do not go down. Fair enough?

And if those low levels wanted to snipe to go up and maintain their level to in order to light DE, you got to give it to them. They are also putting in effort and its not as easy as for it seems. The time and effort is definitely needed.

No need to create an entirely new building just to counter 1 scenario of a single spell. They'd be better off reducing the damage lightning can do to storages, not that you don't deserve it if you drop into range of those lower level THs.

Yes thats a very good point too. Resources are the main point of the game and building your base. We should be building better bases that stop folk taking the resources so easily.

Personally I've just accepted it as a part of the game, a part of which if I want to avoid I raise my trophy count.


A fat DE storage attracts attacks of one sort or another.

Build and defend your village? Really? Not even the greatest defence in the game cannot stop lightning on their DE storage, instead they get punished by it due to loot penalties. Contradiction much?

Lv 50 is protected by the loot penalty.

High level players are punished by it when it comes to DE lightning.

Big difference.

If you do not want to get lightened go up on your trophies :) 2000+

No difference. A level 6/7 town hall will have their village wiped out. They will have no chance to revenge a TH10 as, even with a loot bonus, they won't even get anywhere near. So they take what action they can lightning DE.

Pick on someone your own size, otherwise the children may kick you in the balls and run off.

I don't find it a contradiction at all. You can lighting those TH7s back, if you wanted to, and they would have no defence either. Or you could three-star them with your high level troops. Of course, you would get almost no DE back, but that is the price you pay for going to TH10, with high level defence and troop upgrades. It is completely fair. You get better stuff, and to pay for it, you lose more resources.

Go to 2000+ :) And you'll not be lightning but Hog riders.
Your cups are too low, You stay under 2000 because of farming low lever TH, Do you think that they hate to see their base 3 stars by 6* troops.

Exactly, you have no defence against lightning, they have no defence against level 6 troops.

I am a town hall 7 and I lighting de storges there is nothing wrong with it don't say some thn=ing mean that includes you people talking ♥♥♥♥ about how I do stuff and the main reson we lighintg your de is to get the barb king but after that we stop most of the time

If the lightning rod ever does get implemented into the game, I guess a shield over the collectors and storages to TH7 and 8 will also come out? You can't complain when they take 1k DE from you, you took 200/200 from him. Stop trying to win everything, there needs to be a balance and there is one.

Gain: Gold and Elixir. Lose: Dark elixir.
Gain: Gold, Elixir and Dark elixir. Lose: Gold, Elixir, Dark Elixir.

Here we go again. A th10 comes down to gold or silver to farm th7-9s and gets mad when they aren't invincible to attack there. Move up to crystal and you won't get bolted. You will get 3 stared more though so your choice.
This argument is getting old. The game is fair. Move along citizen.

I'm a TH10 above 2000, and get lightninged by TH8,9 & 10. I make it a point to wipe out the attacker's base whenever possible.

But you are wrong to think a TH10 farmer would bother raiding low levels. I only raid TH9 & 10. Anything lower is not worth the troops due to the loot penalty (unless revenge for lightning).

DE storage needs an upgrade level, with built in lightning rod.

My DE storage never get lightning and my current amount of trophies are 1980(so obviously I didn't get lightninged even before 1980).

Why are you so worked up over the measly 1,600 DE in the first place??
Your drills can make that back in just over 5 hours!

To be honest, you can generate 7,200 DE each and every day from the drills alone!! And you will get extra DE from your normal raiding. What's the deal in whining about losing 1k or so DE every now and then?
As TH10, your DE should be plentiful if you stay in your appropriate trophy range.

Dont stereotype! And kids are allowed to play this game too! Supercell never put an age limit on the game. And raiding isnt really about skill anyway, all you can do is put your troops down and hope for the best ( well you need to place them in a strategic location, but after that its out of your hands) you need to place a lightning spell just like u need to place troops!

Th 9-10 WOULD NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER try to break into a town hall's 7 storages only take out their pumps/mines which means THEY'RE PRETTY inactive do you not understand their's a MASSIVE loot penalty when It comes to storages?!!

Saying that dropping lightning is just as difficult as troops is the most ignorant thing I have heard in a while. It may be easy to drop troops but to drop the right ones at the right times in the right locations is a different story.

I'm this case if they took 200/200K of each it would be a person ONE TOWN HALL higher ONE which is fair. Don't act like town hall 7s don't attack town hall 6s.
Town halls 7s act like th 9-10 players farm them 24/7 lol if a town hall 9-10 is farming you and you're a "low level" is because you're PREMATURE.

Yes. Which is why it's productive for a TH7 to lightning the DE storage. After all, a TH7 won't be able to break into the storages. The loot penalty will work in their favour.

You don't like it? Then get back to a trophy level more suitable to a TH9/10.

For 'pretty inactive' I guess you mean someone who has been out for the day at work. So if you raid that then expect to be revenged in the only way they can.

Aside from moving up trophies, the best strategy against lightning spells is that DE upgrades should be your least priority. For every TH cycle, upgrade everything else first so you could survive higher trophy levels then move up.

I love the fact that it is hard to collect DE. Once you are able to upgrade, you have an edge over same leveled players that are still saving up.

Unneeded, besides, I heard that there is massive amounts of DE you high level players get.

Yes exactly! We trophy push every month, so the stop farming lower levels is a rubbish defence. I don't attack lower lv TH as it aint worth it. The reason for this post was to suggest a way to stop a very hard resource to make ie 3 pumps maxed weeks to make some DE, never never the 200k DE needed for the max queen. This is not possible as lower level players WHO CAN'T BREAK INTO YOUR BASE drop a few lightning spells taking thousands!

Very hard? Really?
DE is the easiest to get as a TH10. You get 7.2k DE from pumps alone! And you should get plenty of DE during your normal raids at higher trophy range.

And losing thousands? You cannot lose thousands to a TH8 or 9 using lightning.
You just have to stay away from the TH7 range!

Have you seen that there are players in the higher leagues farming the top end players? Look it up.... Its not hard I've seen players at very low levels up in 2500 T range. Its not hard for them to get there and they won't be attacked as they have nothing to give apart from maybe an easy win to rise further yourself.

The fact is top level players should not be hit by this. An easy fix.

You can't possibly 'rest your case' on the fact that a few, like 5, TH7 players have gotten to master leagues. Dropping 8-9 dragons for 1 star is hardly farming top end players. You were commenting on players dropping lightning spells, there are plenty of places you will be safe against them, but you will risk being targeted by stronger players.

You can't have all the gold, elixir and dark elixir and expect not to lose any.

I like a spell prevention building. I think the game NEEDS it for balance reasons.
But for revenue reasons it's a bad idea. Gemmers gem a lot. And at the moment it is impossible to prevent a 50% star from a good raid. The game developers know this and add in more ways to get fast troops to revenge the person (all requiring gems to bypass the unit cook time). And this is part of the way the game generates revenue.

Add in spell prevention buildings and you can prevent a few buildings, usually stores from being zapped. This makes it harder to quickly get resources. Thus easier to defend the base and less need to spend gems to race through new troops to revenge.

Sometimes, they can still get attacked despite not very good loot.

I got attacked by TH9 when I was TH7, and right now, I still get attacked by TH10 as a TH8, despite loot penalty.
Not very frequent, but it happens.

Maybe they are going for trophies, maybe they are desperate for 100k gold/elixir, maybe it's just for the fun of it in crushing low level players.... who knows.

Please please please supercell look at these posts and take some notice. This is killing the game for players who have been playing for a long time.

His point is, while you can raise trophies to reduce it - it can still happen up there. Shrewd TH7 & TH8 bolters raise trophies to light up their way down to become DE rich - which is amplified x4 due to the spell factory boost still happening.

Suggesting ways for players to reduce the likelihood of the problem occurring doesn't stop the problem from existing.

It's seriously annoying when great suggestions like this get shot down with ways to occasionally hide from it.

Just like loot penalty. Despite loot penalty, I still get attacked by TH10. So should we ban TH10 from attacking TH8?
NO!

So similarly, as long as you stay in higher trophy range, you should be OK.
Sure, there are the occasional TH7 or TH8 in Crystal or Master, but they are few and far in between.

im with those who are for lightning allowing lower players to lvl up as its the only way to revenge for anything substantial after your pummeled by people 30 lvls higher than you. boo lightning rods or any anti lightning device

Remove the loot bonus entirely. Also remove the loot penalty on a revenge and stop punishing progression by tying league bonuses to th level and increasing them.

Mines/pumps at max level take like 2 days to fill you can EASILY LOG ON AND COLLECT. It's not like they're stealing loot from your STORAGES.
And of course I don't like it is annoying and a very bad and inefficient way to get DE :)

Excuse me, I fully understand loot penalties. What I am trying to say is what If a TH 7 has a pretty much good loot considering the troops you would expend. It is easy for high TH level to crack a TH7 base especially if you find a weak base with full pumps and storages and you would only send a few troops to break it.

We can attack back 3 star any TH7 and TH8, with a Th10 max out troops, but for what, 30K gold and elixir and 20 DE? It is not worth it to revenge someone 2 TH's below you because loot penalties. A Th10 or 9 can lose 1500+ DE with 3 lightning spells on his DE but cannot get any back. Rising in trophies help, but not too much because everyone seems to do it.

Remove the penalty on revenge? Are you out of your mind? So a TH9/10 with maxed troops can come along and destroy TH6s, TH7s, and TH8s who simply sniped your TH? Do you have any idea how imbalanced the game would become?

How would this imbalance the game? It would end town hall sniping, yes. I fail to see how that imbalances the game though.

Lower ths have plenty of targets without having to target folks two or more ths above them. It would make it harder for them to climb, but only to a point. They are going to get three starred no matter what once they hit a range where folks care about trophies.

You're also neglecting the idea that all 3 things come as a package deal. The point being that th9 and th10 should not be sharing the same trophy space as th6, th7s, and th8s.

I like the idea:-) I would protect my mortars though!
