I'm in a war with me as a th8 and so are the top players, and I want to know what's the best defending troop against dragons, because cc gets lured out in hog attacks. Also, I'm looking for something other than a dragon in the clan castle, because defending dragons usually pull attacking dragons into the center
If you don't want dragons try mages or minions
cc 20 troops
dragon: + high hp, high hp
- slow
minions: + 10 of them, fast, good atk on higher levels
- low hp, can group up and be killed in one swipe
mages: + 5 of them, high atk
- low hp, not as slow as dragons but not as fast as minion
Fast troops are always good but think about the most common attack strategies at TH8
A dragon is always a safe call to defend a base

I had more success with Baby dragon + wizards. The raged baby dragon does the same damage as grown up dragon, and the wizards can deal a lot of damage if the attacker has no poison.
I would put a baby dragon or witches, but we don't have any th9s in this war
