Suggestion - Let me buy base layouts

Setting up a strategic, well-defended base is one of the parts of the game that I least enjoy. I usually go online to try to find sample base layouts, but it is a huge pain in the butt to actually copy one.

My idea is for supercell to let us buy preconfigured, well-thought-out base layouts from the shop. Once you bought it, you could apply it with a tap of a button. From there, if you wanted to move things around, you could do that too. But it would save me the hassle of planning a base.

Cant see the point if everyone bought identical base designs it would make for very boring raids and wars not to mention easy war wins once u destroy one base just another 9 to go with the same design or whatever size war your doing

I think Mrlk's comment assumes an extreme world where the majority of people are using canned layouts.

I do not think *everyone* would use/buy them, plus as I mentioned you could move things around further to make yours a little different.

I'm sure there are as many if not more players who like to have their own bases but I think there are probably other people like me who would be happy to not have to spend time dragging buildings around, and are basically already copying layouts from websites. This would just give Supercell another way to get people to buy gems, which I would happily do :)

I believe thats best leave to players for their creativity. Google base layouts are only for reference what i suppose. In a strategy game, without a creativity and only gemming the game takes the fun out of it.

OK but not everyone enjoys the process of expressing their creativity when it comes to building a base, and players who do not like it may stop playing despite enjoying other aspects of the game. It's not a mandate, it's an option.

A preconfigured and thoughtful base isn't really feasible. I mean, for a time it is, but any time something new is introduced, or the meta shifts because of a balancing update, or any time someone discovers a cool new strategy, the base becomes obsolete. No base is gonna be good forever, or even a long time. So you'd be asking the team to create new bases for every level any time anything changes. That's just not fair to ask of them just because you don't want to move stuff on your own base. And if you'd be okay with one generic base for months on end, then what's really so bad about taking the time to make one and leave it for those months instead of expecting the game team to do it for you?

There are youtube videos showing how to 3 star all of the most common internet base layouts. If Supercell offered base layouts per your suggestion, there would be a flood of 3 star videos within a week.

Tiler, that's basically what I do, and one of the things I dread about upgrading my base or adding buildings is having to spend the time reconfiguring my base.

Again, not saying everyone feels this way -- just think there have to be more people like me who enjoy offense way more than defense and would be willing to pay for layouts.

To your point about them becoming obsolete, I would probably spend on new layouts if they were offered, so it could be another item in the shop. There are many people who effectively do this already by finding layouts online, but it is in my opinion a pain in the butt to spend 15-20 minutes dragging buildings around and counting wall lengths to recreate it exactly so there are no errors/dead spots. And holy cow is it horrible to find out you messed up by 1 tile some place 5 minutes ago and it's going to be easier to just start over than to try to fix it.

Finally, just because I use a layout doesn't mean I might not tweak it, but getting all the buildings quickly to a starting point would save a lot of time.

Clearly this is not a popular option among power users but I have a feeling more casual users who just want to do the raids would find it worthwhile. And if the bases are, as everyone suspects, "predictable" (though honestly that's already an issue) and easy to beat over time, that'll just make buying new base layouts more appealing for some.

What is the problem with this? I know YouTube creators would love it! A little boost to the SuperCell aftermarket economy ;) Also I'd like to point out that just because you watched a video on YouTube (which I have done many times) doesn't mean it's a shoe-in to 3-star it, especially if the layout is not 100% identical to the one you chose.

I see the appeal. Trust me, I feel the way you seem to about base design. I custom made a base several months ago that I haven't changed much since I put it together. But I don't have to, because it's unique and no one can ever "figure it out". If it does even halfway decent, I know I can hang onto it until something new comes along that forces a change.

So maybe that would be a good alternative for you. Granted, it usually takes me over an hour to get a base put together from scratch, sometimes having to redo it once or twice (on successive days, I do NOT have the patience to base build for 4 hours). But like I said, it lasts a long time. And it doesn't cost me anything except the small bit of sanity I have left
