Mastermind's Daily/Weekly/Monthly Quests Idea (with TONS of pictures!)

I do like the idea to use gems to skip Quests. Throughout some of the comments we talked and debated about the use of gems in this idea. I don't have a problems with using Gems to skip over Quests though or to receive a new one. SC would definitely be more apt to include and implement something that can use gems as well.

I'm not a fan of using gems to have a better chance at a sexier reward though, but wouldn't be against it entirely. There is a lot of potential for SC to make more money with this idea, you are right! :)

Hey Roman :) I have everything I like written out for those ideas and others and will start on it after I finish this other project I was working on in a few days. Deciding between Clan Wars, Clan Overhaul/Improements, and Mini Games but leaning towards the last two!

Thanks mazza! Yes the balloons would be changed to whatever Holiday season it was (if they did the Balloon idea or any visual representation of quests). For example, Halloween would be pumpkins, Christmas would be big ornaments, Easter would be Easter Eggs, etc. :)

As far as making the pics, I used Photoshop to change all of them around.

1/ Those balloons look too distracting, and kinda ruin the look of the base. It might be better if you use one of those villagers and make a speech bubble above her saying "QUEST".

2/ Some people might already figure that they can 'artificially' lower their trophy counts in order to make some of the quests easier to be done. How do you prevent this kind of cheeating behaviour from happening? And this problem also leads to further problems which are explained in the final point.

3/ I question the feasibility of implementing time limit on those quests. Once you set a time limit, players will immediately shift their focus on completing the quests. Gradually, you will destroy the main theme of this game, which is clash of clans!

Thanks, here's the answers to your 3 questions/concerns:

1. The balloons are just an example of what it could be. While many others and myself do not find it distracting, I could see how people think it could. The reason I went with balloons (or anything as a physical representation of Quests) is simply because of the button placement. The place where I put the button makes the most sense/goes best with the symmetry. Because I wanted it to be next to the Achievement girl's button, it would look better if that button also had a face to represent it's goal. I went with skeleton's and came up with a story for why they'd come, and like I said in the post, if anyone has a better explanation or story for why Quests would start coming, I'd love to hear! Not that it needs a story, but in my opinion it would be better. As far as the balloons being too distracting, there are many solutions that I even say during the thread and throughout the comments: make the balloons much smaller, make it a different troop entirely, make them appear at docks, etc. It honestly doesn't matter at all, but I went with the balloons because of the story I created. I like your idea about villagers, but there would need to be a lot of work done to them for that to work. Nevertheless, I like the idea!

2. Easy solution to this that I wrote during the thread: rewards are not only based on TH level, but trophy level/league as well. All rewards. For instance, someone at TH9 and Crystal 1 might get a daily quest reward of 35,000 whereas a TH9 at Gold 3 will get less, like 21,000. These are just examples (as are all the figures in the thread) but this idea would help promote people getting higher trophies. Sure, people at lower trophies could have an easier time completing them, but people already do that now anyways. It wouldn't be that much different. Plus difficulties of Quests could scale based on trophy level, so you'd need to do more at a lower trophy level. Don't see it as a problem at all if done correctly, and this solution would fix a potential problem (and like I said, people already do this in the game now called farming, so it wouldn't be different).

3. Where you see this as a problem, I consider this (as well as most people I've seen write about this in the comments) as THE best part of this idea. Monotomany kills a game. The best part about this idea is that it will add a variance to gameplay that currently doesn't exist, but not change the core concept of the game. Currently, all we can do in the game is raid another player's base, collect resources/get trophies, and rinse and repeat. While the game is fantastic, the grind gets old for a lot of players, leading to many quitting. This idea will not change the fact that people will raid others, but change some aspects of how they do it. For example, one Quest would require the player to get at least a 2 star on a base with at least 5 Valkyries. So instead of the player using the same old attack every single time, it changes up the gameplay slightly, but the payer is still raiding. Not sure what you think the difference would be, as most of the Quests involve attacking another player's base.

But first of all, regarding the balloons, most of the players use iPhones, rather than iPads, so it will look a bit cramped. Also, do not (in fact, never!) be satisfied with your work just because "many others" agree with you ;-) You need to keep thinking, thoroughly!

As for point number 3, here is what I meant to say...

The theme of this game is about attacking each other, a.k.a. clash of clans. It is not about completing quests. The existing quests are just a bonus feature. They are meant to be a reward for those who had played for a long time. Now, what you are doing is basically introducing more quests, but with time limits. Creating more quests is cool - not an issue at all. But once you set a time limit on those quests, people will have the incentive to just focus on completing the quests. For example, you will see people go around attacking the builder huts only. This is very likely to happen because troops training takes time. I know you are trying to encourage people to use different kinds of troops in their attacks. But your solution will only be a quick fix. Once the quest is done, people will only go back to their old attack pattern.

Confounded as to why you are saying you "got fed up", especially when you were commenting on my original thread post? Seems like there is some vexation or irritation throughout your past 2 posts. Not sure where I stated that I am satisfied with my work because others agree with me... I wrote to you that essentially every other person in this thread has commented that they like the idea of an added element to the current gameplay. I welcome criticism more than anyone, but please don't chide me.

This Quests idea is completely different from Achievements in game (or as you called them, existing Quests). Achievements, as you stated, are "meant to be a reward for those who have played a long time." I totally agree. My Quests idea is meant to be for average to more active players who want to play the exact same game, just with an added element to the current game, that will not change the gameplay dramatically at all. There is nothing new you can do with my idea. It still comes down to raiding and defending, but it breaks up the monotony and CAN change the way a user plays. CAN is bolded because you wouldn't have to do the Quests at all if you didn't want to. People can actively pursue completing Quests (5 a day), acquire them as they play normally, or not even try to complete them.

I don't see the problem with time limits at all, as I don't believe there is one. Again if you don't want to do a Quest, you wouldn't have to. Time limits would actually make completing them somewhat challenging. In the example you gave of destroying a certain number of builder's huts, sure, people might just destroy them, but it would be at the expense of losing trophies and higher rewards. Or they could raid like normal and just make sure to destroy the builder's huts, go TH & BH sniping, etc. See... that is where the beauty lies, it changes the monotony, without changing the core concept of the game. And that is why I stated to you the first time that just about everyone in this thread likes this idea for that reason (not to brag, just to inform you of how the general consensus has been, as I'm not sure you've read through all 600 comments). ;)

Anyone else have an opinion on this matter? I don't see the problem at all, and I'm really trying to understand him, but maybe I'm just not seeing the bigger picture? The things he is labeling as "problems" are what I consider the best points of this idea (as well as most others throughout the comments).

Your idea is great - I give you that, but I don't think you have thought through some of the details carefully. That is not your fault since you developed this idea solely by yourself.

Though, you need to think critically. Don't just look at how many people agree with you. Your idea is popular because you did a brilliant presentation and had obviously put a lot of effort into it. However, I still think that the time restriction is the biggest flaw of your idea. I am not gonna repeat myself here again. But I can give you an example: consider the builder huts again, on average, it takes about an hour to train an army of high quality troops, and, on average, there are 4 builder huts per base (this could be lower if you have low trophy counts.) Now, tell me, how is it possible to destroy 25 builder huts in 2 hours without having to behave irrationally (i.e. "builder huts farming")?

I know it's pretty late for me to have any opinion now. You obviously have developed this for a long time and seem to be very confident about this. All I can say is good luck! :)

Most people's armies take about 20 to 30 minutes.

And even then, what's wrong with builder hut farming? People do it to get the achievement!

The only problem I could see with it is for champion league players who defend even their builder huts with their lives.

WOW!!We really need people like you or more specifically we need YOU at supercell!This idea is absolutely exactly what we need in this game!I applaud ur efforts in making this idea and back it 100%!Even if it was an add on u had to pay a couple dollars for i would still love it!And as for the people saying its distracting unless u have ADHD then this isnt a problem at all!If u didnt want to do the quests then dont do them...This is one of the best ideas ive ever seen for coc

I apologize for misinterpreting your frustration. It appeared as if you were bothered for some reason by my thread by the tone of your writing. No worries!

Appreciate the compliment, and glad you like the idea! I think we are just going to have to agree to disagree ;) It seems that the main issue for you is the time limit. The reason I brought up other people is because you were the only comment of 600+ to view it as a negative, and because I don't think you read through 600 comments (would be tough to lol), I was trying to make you aware of the fact that everyone else has seemed to like the time limit and wanted it. On the flip side, I think it is crucial and would add to the excitement and cause it to be different than how Achievements already are. Plus without a time limit, the title is kind of pointless (Daily, Weekly, and Monthly Quests) as they specifically refer to a set amount of time. I believe the time limit is a fantastic thing, and I'd love to hear others' opinions like the couple above this post.

As for your example about the Builder Huts again, the figures I made were just examples as I stated. But let's go with the 25 in 2 hours. Sure if you make an army that takes 30 minutes and attack as normal, you would not be able to complete that Quest. But that's the beauty of it all. It would be YOUR choice. If you want to do the Quest, you very easily could destroy 25 huts in 2 hours. Very easily. If you don't want to, you wouldn't have to, just as the posters above mentioned. For instance if I got the Quest, I'd find TH's on the outside of the walls, destroy the TH and the Builder's Huts with limited amount of troops and then attack the next base right away. It would add a different mission and element to the game, while still making the user attack another's base. The current game is even like this. People have the choice of just attacking a Town Hall, just going for resources and losing trophies, going for a quick 50% or trying to 3-star a base. This would just make for more choices, which in a game is of extremely high importance.

Obviously not every idea will be liked by everyone, you are definitely entitled to your own opinion and I respect it! I just don't understand your issue (and I'm trying, trust me) because I don't think it is a negative at all. Supercell has commented saying they love the idea and even mentioned it favorably in the most recent interview. This idea would benefit Supercell as people might speed up armies to finish Quests, or Donate more, or for countless other Quests. But like the game is set currently, people would be able to complete and acquire everything without money, it would just allow people to speed up the process.

One other thing: You keep mentioning to think through things thoroughly, think critically, not just look at what other people say, etc, etc. Just thought I'd mention that I have thought through this idea very thoroughly, very critically, and although I'm sure it's not perfect, you keep telling me to not look at what other people think. It's coming off as pretty dissenting. Don't want to misinterpret anything though.

Appreciate the kind words Jazz, means a lot! I could see why some people would think the balloons might be distracting, but there are so many other ways and solutions to that issue, it wouldn't be a problem to change.

Totally agree with your point about Champion's League players and some of the Quests that would involve beating a time limit. A couple options for that:

1. Make specific Quests apply to certain trophy levels, in a similar fashion to TH levels. Someone at TH8 won't get a Witch Quest, so maybe a Champion player might not get a Quest that involves Builder's Huts.

2. I'm not a huge fan of the #1 option for Champion players, because I don't think it should be easy to do every single Quest and people need to make choices, but another solution could be to simply make getting harder Quests for Champions more rare. For example, if a lower trophy player can get that Quest randomly 4% of the time, a Champion might get it 1% of the time. This is my favorite solution.

3. Keep it the same and force the Champion to make a decision. A more aggressive approach but one that could lead to more rveenue for SC, IF they made completing Quests purchasable with gems (which I'm against but would understand, although if that was the case there would need to be a hard cap on the number of times the wheel could be spun, like once every 3-4 weeks).

I didn't read through all the comments yet, but I will post this anyway. I am Jewish (Don't make any anti-Semitic remarks) and would really appreciate recognition for at least Hannukah on the holiday list. Even though Yom Kippur and Passover are more important, I can't see them fitting in well for quests. You wrote an interesting and well thought out thread and get lots of praise from me.

Good idea. With this idea, SC could always be adding special Holiday Quests, from very big holidays like Christmas to smaller ones like Valentine's Day. They wouldn't have to do much, other than implement a couple related Quests.

I disagree. Right now there are trophy hunters, farmers, and farmers who push.

Adding quests would not take any of that away, but add questers into the equation.

Personally, I am a farmer who pushes. If there were quests, I would still be a farmer who pushes, but there would be more variety with my troops.

Variety is a good thing, as it prevents the game fom getting stale.

Everyone would be working on different quests at the same time. There is no logical reason to believe that there would be a sudden surge of builder hut sniping. There may be the ocassional one, but that is expected, and quite frankly, makes the game more interesting, as you may not know which type of attack to defend against.

Here is and idea for a daily,weekly,and monthly quest.
Ranged Roller: Donate 20-50 ranged troops in a day
Ranged Rogue: Donate 75-125 ranged troop in a week
Rocking Ranged: Donate 150-300 ranged troop in a month

If these quest gems were purchasable then how many would you suggest you can get max. For example you don't want people to buy 500 gems because that defeats the purpose, these gems are supposed to be hard to get. So instead if you do make them purchasable then how many is the maximum you can buy at one time?

You are the best poster and seen you should be in the room for new implementations of SC and not be here giving suggestions. Publish friend please post war between clans.

I'm surprised Supercell hasn't hired you as a brainstormer by now. Awesome guide can't see why it shouldn't be in the game.

Good question Shakeel. While I don't think they should be purchasable, I wouldn't be completely against SC making them that way and would understand it from a business perspective. However if they did, I think there would need to be a limit on the number able to be held (possibly at 99) AND more importantly, the number of times the Wheel of Riches could be spun in a month (at possibly 2). I think it would be a terrible idea to have people spin the wheel as much as they wanted if Jewels were able to be purchased.

I like this idea because it would give me more reasons to go on CoC when I usally have to wait days until I can upgrade anything with nothing to do. It would definitly make the game better and more interesting. Also it would make my clanmates donate more! :) Supercell should really add this feature!

I like that. First of all it would encourage people to donate which I need cause my clan is not the best at donating. Also I would give me a way to use elixer while waiting for something to get done cause everything takes at least a day.

This is a great idea, it encourages people to be more active and social. :D

This has to be the single-most amazing CoC-related thread I have ever read, and I cannot imagine how long it took you to write it and photoshop the images.

I have little to no doubt that Supercell have already read this and are discussing the possibility of implementing it into the game.

After months of playing this game I find it is slowly getting kind of repetitive and, aside from Clan Wars (which a. will be awesome and b. has been under development by SC for months I believe) this would truly make the game reach new heights entirely.

You're right; while I did initially find some of the rewards a little bit extreme, after careful consideration I completely agree with pretty much everything you have proposed.

The one issue I have is that I feel that the balloons are a little bit intrusive when they're all floating around your village.
This brings me to my suggestion;

Why not replace top-hat wearing balloons with top-hat wearing goblins? The origin story would make more sense (the greedy goblins flee battle and find the precious jewels). The power from the jewels could have altered the shape/size/colour of the goblins, similarly to the way DE alters other troops.

Also, instead of having them hide out on the beach, why not make it so that you can construct a building that houses the goblins/balloons, thus making the questing aspect of the game available? This way they know which villages are "friendly" to ask for help with quests. By doing so you can make the quest building available from a certain TH onwards (to not overwhelm new players) and SC could cash in here by making the "Quest Building" only purchasable by a certain number of gems (250/500) or by making it relatively expensive.

Anyway, thanks again for this amazing idea and let's make sure to spread the word and get this released in the next few months!

@charasdub: Excellent suggestions! I appreciate your kind words and really like the thoughts you shared :) You are right in the fact that Balloons could be intrusive, and while there are many solutions to that, turning them into Goblins housed in a Quest building would make a lot of sense too. SC would like your suggestion of making it purchasable with gems, almost like an add on if people wanted to pay, or save up Gems just like Builders huts. Great ideas!

Is the wheel going to in 3d like it is show it the picture?
if it is we may be in a bit of problem because I think the ipod 4th gen and iPad 1 gen may not work well with the 3d graphics, all though I'm not sure but it may work causing a little bit of lag from the memory it need for the wheel to move and operate fast enough without mistakenly trying to swipe ur finger many times.

If it not then which I think is a great idea since I can imagine it well that in 2d it be a lot better and more functional.

Im ok with your and/or SC choice just hope it will be in the update in 2014 can't wait.

Hi! i think that this is a wonderful idea... (I would never have the patience to type something that's this long). I really hope that they add this to the game... it would make the game more fun, make people more active (they have to go on everyday to do the daily quests), and would have more clan interaction ( your quests can help the clan). overall this is a really good idea... I wouldn't be disappointed.:):):)

Thanks guys, glad you like the idea :) And I saw that Corkey, yes! Was definitely cool to hear, someone in my clan mentioned it to me. Jepple, I agree I think something like this would help with clan interaction, participation, and unity, which is one of the most important aspects I believe SC should focus on.

I really like the wheel idea. It adds the element of luck into the game, which might help newer players quite a bit and is still something of interest for those who are of a high level. Great job! ;)

Glad you do like it! As far as the wheel of riches goes, like I mentioned in the OP the rewards are just examples of things they could put there. It's more of the concept that's important, and not so much the prizes I made (even though I took a good amount of time to think of great yet fair prizes). And the only extra items that I included in the wheel were 1 extra mine/pump/drill. I really like the idea of "getting lucky" and acquiring 1 extra resource collector, and constantly trying to achieve getting one by completing Quests, although I understand where you come from. I however don't think it would be unfair at all, as it would be hardly game-breaking and everyone could get them at some point. Different people, different viewpoints though.

Good question xXDEMONXx! For the obstacle Quests, the number needed would be achievable based on the number of hours required to finish. For instance, if it was a Weekly Quest and required 10 obstacles to be cleared, the minimum amount of time you would have to finish the Quest would be 80 hours (3 days 8 hours). Obstacles spawn at 1 every 8 hours, so multiply the number of obstacles required by 8 and that's the minimum amount of time SC would provide. If you already had obstacles at your base, you could do the Quest in a matter of a few minutes. I think more people would "save" obstacles if this was a Quest that could be available at any time ;)

Clear 1,000 obstacle
get a star with one troop
use only HOG RIDERS to get 100%
use barbarians to get 100%

(just note these may be terrible ideas but just putting it out there mastermind)

I think that this is a great idea and would really encourage me to play more often. I also have some ideas:

Daily Quests
Miner: Collect X amount of gold from your mines
Pump Worker: Collect X amount of elixir from your pumps
Drill Operator: Collect X amount of dark elixir from your drills
Stampede: Use only Barbarians, Archers, and/or Goblins to at lest 1-Star a base
Balanced Troop: Use only Giants, Balloons, and/or Wizards to at least 1-Star a base
Tanks: Use only Healers, Dragons, and/or PEKKAs to at least 1-Star a base
Dark Knight: Use only Dark Troops to at least 1-Star a base

Weekly Quests
Hard Worker: Collect a bigger amount of gold from your mines
Plumber: Collect a bigger amount of elixir from your pumps
Drill Engineer: Collect a bigger amount of dark elixir from your drills
Giant Horde: Use only Barbarians, Archers, and/or Goblins to at least 1-Star 2-4 bases
Balanced Militia: Use only Giants, Balloons, and/or Wizards to at least 1-Star 2-4 bases

Shiny Pink Egg?: Collect a large amount of elixir with any method (except gems) (Easter)

Make all of those different levels of the daily quest. It's pretty easy to donate 300 troops in a day, with an active clan.

yeah it may be easy for the active clans but not the other clans that are smalls or have inactive members.

True, just depending on clan size, as a person in a large clan would have access to more troops, therefore requiring more troops needed (not a whole lot more to prevent abuse).
