The 250 static HP in the Heroes altars should increase as the hero increases in levels. Nothing on par with their HP but perhaps something along the lines of a cannon.

The HP on the altars is fine, it's part of something insignificant like builder huts. Plus, it comes in handy when trophy hunting since if you're at 49% then a single lightning strike will destroy the altar and give you the 50%. Perfect as it is already.
1. The altars are not as insignificant as a builder's hut. From a defensive standpoint good placement of your altars can be a huge defensive advantage as it is the center of your hero's range.
2. Your noting that the altars can be destroyed with one lighting spell makes my point even more.
I'm not asking for the altars to be OP on defense, but just gain a few points (as per other defensive units) per level.
True, good placement of an altar can be a significant standpoint but I don't think something as minuscule as an altar deserves the HP attention you're asking for. It's just an altar and shouldn't play a bigger role in defense.
Yes, I noted that the altars can be destroyed with one lightning spell which also makes my point even more. There's been countless times when I'm trophy hunting that the low HP of the altar gave me a 50%. It shouldn't be changed.
I know you're not asking them to have the same HP as a mortar but I just don't think its something that should be tweaked with for the reasons already mentioned.
I agree with you!! I would go as far as to say that builder's huts should also have a tweak in HP. You pay enough for builders and heroes, so you deserve a little more protection which could influence the outcome of battle. At the moment both these items are almost an afterthought, but they do take up valuable space. Not denying the old lightning blast on the hut or altar is a very satisfying way to earn your 50%,but a tweak in HP seems fair and works both ways as we all attack and defend.

Hmm, perhaps.
Heroes get a slight appearance change every 10 levels. My King now has a gold glove.
Perhaps a small boost to alter HP should also occur at this intervals. And I stress small boost. Like 50HP extra every 10 levels.
