I have had many experiences with spells being placed without me doing it. They appear to be placed where my last troops were placed. I have also seen this in attacks against me. It has even caused me and some people who attacked me to loose their battle! It would be great if this could be fixed soon.
Screen pics or replays are your best friend here. Nothing can really be done without evidence that there is a glitch. I would also email support using the link in the game settings. That will provide them with information about your account.
Just to be sure though, before you do this, are you sure you're not accidentally dropping spells? I know I've done that more than once and it's the worst. But it's definitely a game glitch just human error :(
