Are you referring to notifications or actual ingame sounds? Ingame sounds will continue even if silent mode is on. You have to turn down the volume for entertainment and such for those to go away. You also have the option to go into the menu on your game and turn sounds off in the settings. If you're referring to notifications then I'm not sure what's going wrong.
