Lavaloon - Improvements or Alternatives?
I'm quite a fan of air attacks. Having had much success with loonion farming I have decided to take the next step and push to champs (currently masters I) with the famous lavaloon 3 star attack strategy. I have read several threads and watched numerous YouTube guides on the quad lavaloon (my current army consists of 4 rage + 1 poison + 4 hounds + 18 loons + 10 archers to deal with enemy cc/clean-up and 5 loons in my own cc).
Unfortunately, I have been struggling to 3 star th9 bases with my lv 6 loons and lv2 hounds; instead typically only obtaining high one-stars. I have attempted using 2 hounds on each of 2 air defences followed by deploying my loons in a straight line. I have also tried directly attacking 3 air defences with my 4 hounds followed by deploying my loons in a large semi-circle, but this also has failed for me.
I understand I am beginner at this strategy and hence at least one of these two problems usually arise in my attempts to destroy max th9 bases:
1) Archer queen takes out my loons before lavapups can take her out
2) Balloons don't follow intended path
How can I minimise the frequency of these pesky issues arising and be more stable in my troop deployment?
I have been mostly strong with air attacks (not so much with ground) and was wondering if there are any tips or key concepts that I have overlooked in my quad lavaloon attacks. If not, then are there any alternative air attacks that I may want to try for 3 starring max th9 bases? Thanks in advance for the advice.
