Tips and tricks

I am the leader of a pretty well established NH. We have a facebook page where we communicate so comments or concerns dont get lost in the chit chat. Every so often we share what we call tips and tricks... Things that we find helps our farms run more smoothly and efficiently. We usually do this after an intake of new members to get new ideas coming in. This seems to be really helpful for newer players to the game or people that are just entering a hood for the first time.

I though maybe as a community here on the forum we can share more ideas for those new coming/less experienced players.

Here are a few tips my hoodmates and I have came up with to get this chat going... Hopefully :)

👉 save all trees/bushes for the help task while doing the derby.
👉 when doing town tasks stack your people and use the town hall to enter and serve more.
👉 produce and stock a set amount of items for your barn. This allows you to fill boats and trucks faster.
👉 always keep regular popcorn, bread, dairy, and sugar products making. You can never have enough of these items.

These are just a few ideas we have shared over our time of playing together. Not every idea will work for every farm but its a fun way to learn things about the game you might not have known. I look forward to reading about what makes your HD life easier!

Hi Smiley, welcome to the forum. Some of your tips can be found in a few different places, such as the sub-forum "New to HayDay?" Or even "Derby Talk" or Neighborhood Discussion. It's one of those topics that is useful in many places. And hopefully even this thread will stay near to the top for a bit so that many more can add to it.

My 2 cents: before choosing to fill a boat with sugar, dairy, jams, lobster, feathers, etc (the hard stuff) - ask your hood mates if they can help. If not, and you cannot fill it by yourself, please consider casting it off. :)

When saving trees and bushes that need watering, move them off to a separate area so you can easily count your receivable bushes and so you know when they go dry again they are chop downs.

some stuff it surprised me that people did not know

- there is a chest in the water in town, collect 1x per day in your town and a hoodmate
- you can trash tasks on your truck board
- you can send away boats you don't like, but only if you don't fill a crate
- the size of circles in fishing mean different fish - event fish are the 2nd smallest size
- you can tug on the fishing line to tell what fish it is. especially for worms, if it's slow it's a salmon
- you can catch event fish, red tailed catfish, with worm in bottom right spot only
- townies do not count against your capacity as soon as you get gift, NOT when they get to platform or on train
- you can opt out of derby, and leaders / co-leaders can opt you out too
- if you don't go to town and accept an eggspress train your townies stay out for pickup
- if you design your town so it takes a while for townies to get to platform, they will always miss train and remain for pickup
- at halloween, find the ghost in fishing area for a gift every day

In fact, don't cut down all the trees on your farm -- Hay Day does some fun seasonal looks and those trees are really pretty!

The chest in the town can be opened (without diamonds) multiple times a day, not just once.

Indeed, when I started playing the Town, I developed the good habit of tapping my sea chest and those of my hoodmates' when I picked up their visitors.

Since then, I was rewarded everything from diamonds to puzzle pieces!

Please can you tell me what I did to my farm by cutting down one or two of my trees across the river before I knew I shouldn't do it??

Nothing really, except you've cut down some trees for no reason. You got a handful of XP, though. But you can't build anything over there, so there is no point in clearing it.
