There is a lot of great info online about improving one's play and understanding of the game. I thought I would fill this post with information that can help all ranges of players starting out, since we tend to suggest the same things in chat. I'll try to update this frequently and hope everyone can get some use out of it.

Max Your Defenses Before Upgrading Town Hall
I see this constantly with newer members. People with TH7 or TH8, 2 mortars and level 3 walls. Upgrading your town hall too early is a major mistake because it makes it harder for you to find appropriate targets to raid. The bigger problem is it makes it much harder to save up and keep the resources you do raid because your defenses are so weak.
Guide to Using Gems Properly At the Start
Buy builders before ANYTHING.
The post below details the benefits of buying builders and how to use them. Post #8 is especially useful because it outlines the time saved by spending $20 and buying your fifth builder - 50% increase in efficiency. If you're going to play the game seriously just suck it up and drop $20 for an otherwise excellent game. Time is money :D

Below TH9 it seems hard to keep your trophies AND your resources. So starting out a lot of more active players prefer to guard their resources and not worry about trophies since they're so easy to gain back.

This week we've instituted a weekly donation requirement. Currently it's not that high and serves to help clean up some of the remaining members who may be inactive. Over time as we stabilize this requirement may rise. The current requirement is 50 for the week.

I've been clan-shopping for a while to find an active farming clan, was glad that I chanced upon Nakama CK here. :p I have experienced past clans that only asked for donations but never donated back, to clans that blinded me with all the drama on the clan chat.
Our members are super friendly, mature, oh and strangely, some with a wicked sense of humour (Reading the clan chat can be entertaining at times). I am allowed to play at my own pace with no pressure to move up to the next level quickly; the expectation is to donate as often as you can, hitting at least 50 will do and be nice:rolleyes:
If you are looking for a conducive clan environment, Nakama CK is the clan for you. :o

I'm 27, and a chinese female residing in Malaysia. I'm currently a legal exec in a law firm (recently started a criminal division), sitting for the Malaysian bar exam~ I love the simple pleasures in life such as anime, online gaming, going to the movies, drawing, reading, japanese cuisine & culture and creating new food recipes of my own. I love to add a lil imagination to my base layouts. You probably won't see it, but I see much more than just bombs and cannons. If you look very closely, you'll probably see some benches by the southwest ocean view too. I'm a light gem user and enjoying the lil boosts it offers along the way.

I have to say I really think this clan is awesome. Our members offer very helpful tips when requested, there is no awful chat fights, but plenty of friendly banter that makes you lol sometimes. And even without this contest, we were a very active donating clan, but it's gotten cray lately!
About me, I'm a 31 year old guy, franco-Canadian, living in Canada's capital (GMT-5), working for my country by enforcing tax laws... yeah baby! I'm not a hardcore gamer. I don't play any other online games. I'm from Denmark- a small country in Northern Europe... I'm a 38 years old man (looks so much worse written than how it feels!) and I work as a nurse at a Hospital in Copenhagen.
I have played my share of online gaming, especially NWN on rpg servers. Now I also play the browser game Ikariam, being one of the first in the world to have maxed out the capped number of cities. Planning ahead for more than a year is something I'm kind of used to... At least in games :D
Next to work and gaming I spend my time on meditation and occasional meditation retreats for some weeks or months - so in these periods I won't be active with CoC (or any other online activity). But I will give you a heads up before I disappear.
My COC Gaming Style
Kind of nerdishly reading and viewing guides is half of it. Flammy's youtube vids really got me started. Designing my base and looking at other people's bases is fun too. When farming I go for the easy kills - still have lots to learn about attacking. On slow night shifts at work CoC helps me staying awake and gives me plenty of opportunity for farming, so I tend be be online at all times.
How do I know about the Clan?
The first time I went browsing on the forum I stumbled on this Nakama thread, and it looked like the exact thing I wanted to join - a relaxed, mature, friendly and interested atmosphere. Yay for Nakama, Roro and you all.
How do I find the Clan so far?
All my expectations have been fulfilled, and more so. Fun to meet people from South East Asia. And as Quattro wrote - amazing how fast donations come in. And with the competition it's really fun to be speed-donating.
What a lovely thread. A bit belated, but here goes.
I'm a 28 year old Korean-American female, grew up in the American midwest and currently splitting my time between Providence and Seoul. I am not a gamer by any means.. I suck at every game I've ever tried but this one is freaking addictive. I played without a clan for a while, then Nakama was the first one I joined. Everyone is ridiculously nice and generous, and I can't wait for this bout of work craziness to end so I can properly talk to everyone instead of being the creepy lurker that I currently am.
Everyone is spot on when they say how intense donations are.. I too witnessed, at least on two different occasions, a member complaining that they wanted to donate but weren't quick enough. As this is my first and only clan I don't know if this is common.. but it's endearing nonetheless.
Shout out to Roro for being a friendly, helpful, and hands-on leader!

For those who don't know me.. I am 33 year old Aussie Indian guy living in Brisbane. I have played a few on-line game before and always have a thrive to get into the top with the least spamming required :). I have played with with a bunch of mahos in my last game cok with maho roronoa as a league leader and few others as well from this clan.
My interests in this game: LOVE ATTACKING different layouts.... competitive but currently slacking due to so many wall upgrades, love farming go mostly for the big ones, honor/trophy will be for future once we all move all to high townhall levels.
Regarding Gemming: Don't listen to roro about my gemming...:) It won't be true for this game. This game don't require much gemming but will be looking to help out others in future.
