Lava hounds

Has anyone had issues with lava hounds popping lately. I have noticed in some war attacks I've watched and my own farming attacks also, that when the hound pops it doesn't always make all the pups it's supposed to. I've seen my level twos pop and make 10 (normal) and then only 4. My whole clan also watched an attack where the hound popped and didn't spawn any pups. Curious if anyone else has had issues.

Pups can insta-die if splash damage hits them just when the Hound pops

Wizard towers can get a perfectly timed shot and kill the hound and pups at the same time.
