I am consistently matched against TH11's with infernos or infernos and D eagle.

Ok first war after new and improved MM. Not sure how I like the match. They have a th11 with max loons, dragons and lava and low heros. Us no th11. We have a th 10 max valkries mid heros. They have no th 10. Than 6 th9s vs our 5 th9s. I'd perfer that we both had th 10s and not go vs a th 11, but I will contend when you look at it, we both have a good chance at a perfect war. So is it about even yes, is it well matched idk. If this is how we get matched up from now on, I could see a lot of perfect draws, but that's better than the way mismatched wars we use to get.

Why is it that the engineering a base become the form of player's creativity and play style? Why not just ban them because it's breaking the term of use or something? Or have SC become afraid of banning now after what happened in the past?

Searching for our first war after the update now. Let's see

Pretty sure u guys broke it lol. We were about 60% winners, now we have lost 11 out of 13. Our current war, they have 22 th11s vs our 10. Their #35 3 starred our #6. Hope you guys figure out how to fix this.

Feeling you friend, we went from winning 90% of the time (all maxers no engineering winning on skill and strategy alone) to two wins two losses and a draw in the last five since update.

your current war is pre-update. let us see the next one to be able to judge

Ok 15 v 15 war.

we have 1 x th11 who has just upgraded so is really a th10. Nothing upgraded yet either defences or attack.
4 th10, 2 are max attack and defences, 2 are midway but upgrading.
6x th9 and 5 are max and 1 is midway.
4 x th8 all max

opposition have 4 x th11
1 x th10
5 x th9
3 x th8
2 x th7.

basically it's pretty even matchup apart from the 2 th11 they have as 1&2. Both have lvl 35+ royals and lvl 15+ warden aswell as max hounds, loons, dragons, bowlers, healers. Both have Eagles, infernos, and all the usual trimmings. Looks to me like they have put the lower th8&9s in to drag there lvl down. There other 2 th11 and th10 are basically max th10s and mirror our top bases.

on first inspection there top 2 if they are decent attackers are gonna wipe the floor with our top 4 bases which leaves us another uphill struggle.

I just want want someone at supercell to sort this shambolic matchmaking out. Every war we get now is uphill, facing max troops, when we have none and more or less know we are more than likely gonna lose before the war even starts.

We have just had one of the worst matches we have ever had.

Some of us have been predicting for a long time that the pool of clans entering MM at a given time may have decreased to the point where fair matches might be nearly impossible. This continues to be my #1 concern, and am hopeful that by increasing war search time, it might expand the pool enough to revitalize things.

I'm also hopeful that the match you described above was a 'pre-update' match. If not, good luck. You've got an uphill battle.

Hopefully your match is an outlier of the new update.

We are desperate. Just tried another war after a week of stopping with it with everything left out that could be considered a engineered account and we faced a engineered clan we no chance of winning.
It doesn't matter what we try, we will loose without chance.

Our spin today took longer than usual and is super even. Good job supercell.

Getting silly now. It seems impossible to find any normal opponents. I don't mind people engineering if that is the way people want to play it, I just feel cheated if I am being bothered with it all the time. Let all engineers battle it out with eachother and let me and my clan face people who play the game as intended. If we go in 100% legit, as we have been doing for months, it should be so by default that we only get matched up against other clans with ( roughly ) the same line up. Don't care if that means it takes longer to find a match. Doesn't take a genius to figure out the whole engineering thing will bring down the game eventually. Supercell needs to stop tweaking and start making some bold decissions even if that means putting off people that mess up their game in the first place.

Isn't the point of engineering to tweak the matchups? You'll never do away with it entirely, there will always be a way to tweak it. Essentially they back their ability to attack over a static base defending - and the only solution is 3 star their weaker defending base

We had a matchup with 1 th11 on our side, 2 10s and a bunch of 9s. We drew 2 max 10s, and 8 engineered 11s. We 3d them out because otherwise we were sure we'd lose (in the end our no-eagle 11 only got 2d by all their 11s, and they rage quit and didn't attack the remaining bases)

As far 'the game as intended' goes - it is a game where you can upgrade attack/ defence/ both/ either or neither. There are no rules.

I'm in a clan in which we are running 10-15 man war mostly. No .5, no engineering bases at all and I have to say the matchmaking did improve a lot for us since the update on it. The more difference you have between your 1 and your last one (in terms of th lvl) the more the chances are you'll get unbalanced matchup. =< 3 th lvl seems to guarantee a fair matchup (11-10-9) with a good balance between your th. (if 10 match-up : 3 th11 3 th10 4 th9 and so on..)

Supercell was eager to make an end to the townhall sniping because it wasn't how the game was intended to be played. Progressing through various town hall levels without placing most, if not all, defensive buildings must surely be the same if not worse. Besides, I am not advocating a ban on engineering. I am merely asking for them to be removed from the list of my possible opponents. 100% legit should mean you get to face another 100% legit clan. Let it be a day for this kind of matchup to be found. Beats wasting 2 days on a likely very frustrating war.

We are just getting ready to get our current War over with it's an engineered Clan they are significantly more powerful we are not engineered. I want to tell everyone here but the effects of these wars are devastating Clans. I used to have a very active chat you'd log on every couple of hours there be 30 or 40 messages now 75% of the chat goes back in the entire day. Talk about draining the life out of the game. It was a good run good strong clan for a couple years but the problems that have cropped up and their inability to fix it that's pretty much killed my clan in the last year. Can't hardly get a 15 roster together and lost half my players and they actually quit the game. We are not far from level 13 I think I want to push it to that and then quit good job Supercell way to go.

i have the same sad story
from 3 clans i was leading 2 years ago, i hardly find 15 ppl to take in war
practically we are 6 real people still standing with our secondary accounts
the rest are dormant zombies

in a month since the MM fixes had begun, we did 15 wars
we lost 5, we are still winning more
but none of the matches was in our advantage or even fair
we just don't give up, sometimes we are better, sometimes we are lucky

i don't know any more how to set our roster. i'm the only th11 remaining in clan who is still opting in
if i take 3-4 x th10, we get more th11 in opps
if i don't take th10, we pull several th10 in opps + 1 th11, we just don't have defense
if i put low in bottom, we pull out engineered

unfortunately we don't have many people available like 2 years ago to try different variations of rosters

So after all of the crying from the engineers it looks like Supercell reverted back to the old matchmaking that favored them. All I can say is, wow!

Yeah Supercell doesn’t want to fix the problem. We spend money too. Engineers shouldn’t get special treatment for cheating the system. I need a new outlet because Supercell will never get rid of engineering, which is now at the same level as modding.

There was no change in war matchmaking. We still get rushed opponents, The problem i see is majorly with the wall weight. My clan players have everything updated including walls, but we get mainly the opponents which are a bit rushed but have the weak walls and due to that we always get tough opponents. Unless and until you would remove the wall weight , the war matchmaking is not gonna get better. After your so called better war match making update we are getting more worse opponents except for a couple of times.

If people want to engineer then that's fine with me Aslong as supercell make the offensive weight similar or the same on both sides. It's not working fairly when one clan has no th11 troops and the other has max everything from 3 or 4 of there players. Gotta make offensive weight the priority on matchmaking searches.

You have got to be kidding me with this matchmaking. I'm not going thru the particulars because it's a waste of time. Us 2 th 11's no eagles. Them 1 Eagle and 8 TH11's with Wardens. This is the worst match up I have EVER seen in Clash and this is supposed to be an improvement?

I'm convinced you guys have no idea how to program this game any longer, hence Builders Nightmare.

unfortunately you're correct. It seems that there's been very little effect on offensive weight for matchmaking. On our current war (first since the changes) the collective defences look pretty similar but offensively the opposition have a huge advantage as they have max th11 troops from 3 players and we have th10 troops only.

Its almost like like supercell think having max dragons, loons, hounds, bowlers and a warden is not going to make much difference.

Thanks for that! I think I'm going to steal that to use for our next war.

Whatever balanced matchmaking they are trying to do doesn't seem to be working. Maybe they need to scrap trying to use one measurement that accurately accounts for the combination of offense and defense. Instead only match clan on if their defense closely matches the opposing clan AND their offense also closely matches.

To be fair I don't think insulting anyone at supercell is going to help the situation. I appreciate it's frustrating, me and my clan are suffering too but all we can do is continue to provide our feedback on the matchmaking and continue to post here. Hopefully they will continue to read the feedback and resolve it quickly.

One of my accounts is an engineered th11 with max th9 defence which is in a clan with other engineered bases..since last few wars its matching against other engineered clans only... on the other hand my main th10 account with max th10 defence and 38/40heroes in a line up of mainly other proper th10 s with at least level 2 infernos and level 4 xbows and few th9 s are being matched against either at least 2 th11 s with eagle at top and also most of the times having some engineered th11s at the middle of the roster

We spun last night - 15v15

Not a bad result.

Us - Them
1 TH11 vs 1 TH11
3 TH10 vs 4 TH10
5 TH9 (1 engineered) vs 2 TH9

none of the rest really matters. I think both clans have a fair chance to win.

On the weekend when the extra clan xp event starts, we'll be spinning a 40v40. Can't wait to see what that comes back with.

You are addressing the people that took over one year to implement the opt-in/out feature for CW after it was released, so...yeah.

B@lls they fixed match making. Last war opponent clan no 8 attacked our no 1 and this war it's going to be no 6. Our war log never looked so bad as it does after the matchmaking bull. Fells like I wanna quit

I'd also support a further reduction in the number of available clan size matches to force the pools of players in the remaining ones to be bigger.

First match out of the gate is almost a perfect match in 15v15. Slight advantages for us down low and for them up high...but nothing game-breaking. They have 1 eagle and we don't, but the hero levels on our side make up for it.

2 th11s apiece, both with enough war offensive troops to matter, we have a th9 that just went th10 to make our th10s have 1 extra (that really isn't that much extra...just went th10 yesterday).

Biggest oddity is at the bottom we pretty much have all th9s and one semi-engineered th8 Offense/little defenses, while they have engineered th9 at the bottom and 2 th5s, 1 th6 as fillers or sand bags or whatever you want to call them.

I think we will win with the advantage down low, and our th11s are more than capable to 3 star all but their eagle (and even that may go down).

One war in, I'm happier than a few weeks ago! Hope it lasts in next search

Well as I expected got beat out by engineering now my other 11th have opted out I am the only remaining one can't even run a 15... I think I'm just going to postpone Wars since all my hard work building regular villages has gone by the wayside and Engineering has taken over

Wow. We won that last war (barely) even though 5 of our members could not play. Had they been better attackers, that would not have happened. Their 8s were good and had strong bases. I think many of those 8s were operated by one player. Their 9s+ not so much.

We only missed leveling up by 2 points so I brought in the first 10 who wanted it. I even brought in some new guy I know nothing about.

1 -9 1 -9 and 1 rushed 9 (th8)
4 -8 3 -8
3 -7 5 -7
2 -6

This looks to be a fairly balanced war.

It boils down to a face off between me on my younger twin 9 and their #1. His base is slightly strong than mine but I have more war stars so we will see. My 8s are a touch stronger than his.

Will never be even matchmaking until SC decides to address engineered bases. They say they want all strategies to be incorporated, but now there's only one. Engineer or face a clan 2x your strength. Only option. This is the game now, and the only matching strategy. Plain and simply put

I deliberately avoided doing a search on Tuesday, and the result was worth the wait. Outstanding match.

Because our clan has 2 max TH10s up top (both mine), we have been pretty much guaranteed a TH11 on the other side. This wouldn't be so bad if it was *a* TH11, but most of the time lately it has been 2-4 TH11s, sometimes with 1-2 eagles, "balanced" by having either no-defense bases or TH5/6 bases on bottom. We still won most of the time but several of those wins involved barely getting by against very low-skill opponents (e.g. nothing but spam attacks)

Our war match yesterday also has the opposing clan with 3 TH11s, but all the TH11s have offense that is overall weaker than a max TH10, mostly due to low hero levels and not having TH11 troops. Also there are no eagles on their side. Their side has an advantage on bottom, with 1 more TH9, but we have 1 more base with infernos than they do. Because the other clan has rushed TH11s to get the Warden (without maxing it out), they stand almost no chance against us.

I do think war MM should have a slight bias in favor of players who put the time into DE farming to get better heroes, but only to a certain point. On one hand, the TH9 or TH10 with 5/10 heroes and max defense should be a liability to its side. On the other hand, the TH11 with 45/45/20 heroes and max healers but TH10 defense should have a vastly higher MM weight than just a max TH10. I hope the new MM system continues to strike the right balance!


edit: to the reply above me, this update is specifically supposed to address that. Time will tell if it does, but don't pretend like it wasn't acknowledged!

Es ist nach dem Update leider nur noch schlimmer geworden... unsere stärkste Defense ist ein RH9 im aktuellen CK.
Die beste Offensive des Gegners ist ein RH11 mit Drachen 6, Blitz 7 und Wächter 7.

Die stärkste Deff beim Gegner ist ein RH10 mit 2 Infernos.

Was ist so schwer daran, die starken Offensiven gegen die starken Defensiven zu matchen?
Man muss natürlich wissen, mit welchen Offensiven, man welche Defense schaffen kann. Vielleicht spielt Ihr Euer Spiel selbst nicht? oder...
Vielleicht solltet Ihr Euch auch mal mit einem Mathematiker zum Thema match making unterhalten?

Aber... ihr habt ja nichts besseres zu tun als eine Meisterhütte L7 zu bauen... tststs.

Stop Infernos ... until you can manage a fair matchmaking.

It is unfortunately only worse after the update ... our strongest defense is a TH9 in the current CW.
The best offensive of the enemy is a TH11 with dragon level 6, lightning level 7 and guardian level 7.

The strongest Defense of the opponent is a TH10 with 2 infernos.

What is so hard to match the strong offensive against the strong defensive?
You have to know, of course, with which offensives, which defense you can beat. Maybe you do not play your own game? or...
Maybe you should also have a mathematician on the subject of matchmaking?

But ... you have nothing better to do than to present a builder base level 7 in the new update... tststs.

The only way to eliminate the strategic advantages of heavily engineered games is to use a base weight for each TH level, then a secondary weight built on top of that for defensive and offensive development. I get that there’s significant variability among clans, but you have to start from a base score then expand the search from there. It would make sense to also give clan leaders the option of deciding just how far they want the search to expand.

Variability and statistical analysis would go a long way here....

A good matchmaking algorithm if weighing things correctly really would have no need of a base weight for a town hall. Merely weighing those things that give the next town hall the advantage over the lower town hall enough would make it so town hall level wouldn't matter in the mma. Sc probably figures this as well it is just Sc fails to do this properly. We as players know what these things are. Defensively what these advantage are is obvious. Supercell has always failed to weigh ths offensive side correctly in conjunction with the defensive. A good mma would understand how valuable a warden and max bowitch troops are in war and weigh them properly they just don't.

This is totally correct, but after this long I've given up on thinking that will happen in time. Minimum weight would be a nice improvement.

Search time definitely longer. Same lineup as last several war. Monday search was 5 minutes

Not sure exactly what you guys did with the new update that came along with the (waste of time) BH7 update... But we searched for 5.5h without a match last night, 4 searches lasting an hour followed by the last one at 1.5h
We run no engineered accounts, with a BD of 5/8/12. Had to suspend war as it would conflict with our arranged/league schedule otherwise. We never had an issue with lengthy search times before this update, so hopefully it's the new algo at work trying for a fair match (trying to stay optimistic here)

1st war match after the update
Us 2-11, 2-10, 5-9, 1-8
Them 4-11,3-10, 2-9,1-3

Their war log looks terrible hope we don’t end up being their easy win.

Matchmaker seems to have malfunctioned. We will try a 15 man next.

Im not holding my breath... How many years have they known there is an obvious problem and continued to do nothing about it. We will see.

First war after update:
Us 3 th11, 1 th10. Them 2 th10.
Seems like it's working for at least half of players

We usually face an unfair match due to the extra th11 offense power on our opponent side, but we got the defense advantage.

After the update... our max th8 are against max th9(offense and defense) , and our rushed th7 are against max th8, 8.5 (offense and defense).

The new algorithm isn’t better at all.

Our matchups still stink.... we've just had 4 th11's go up against 7.......sigh

4 to 15 hour searches... un fair matches... (going both ways; the best engineer wins still) -- and the dreaded

'No clan war match found' error after 24 hours...

--this current MM as of yesterday is garbage... not working yet... these developers need to do a lot more than 'tweak settings' they need to completely revamp the whole thing.

-It doesnt work.
-It's not predictable; no consistent results even using the same roster of players...
-It's still easy to manipulate with fluffies and engineered accounts.

Our TH #40 is a TH3
Our TH #39 is a TH5
Our TH#38 is a TH8
I am TH#32, I am middle of the Road TH10 with maxxed offense and midway through defense upgrades.
Our TH11s (all with eagles) start at #29.


Our Opponents #40 is a TH11, with a mix of TH9 & 10 defenses, LVL 4 Infernos, Eagle, Maxxed Offense.
Our Opponents #39 is a TH11, mostly TH 11 defense. maxed ferns and eagle, Maxxed Offense
Our Opponents #38 is a TH11, basically the same as their #39
Our Opponents #32 (across from me) is basically a maxxed TH11 on offense and defense.

From #29 up, the matchup seems pretty legit.


It is probably time to start thinking about throwing away your in place matchmaking system and starting from scratch as you seem incapable of fixing the garbage that you now have.

Them:
4 th10s, 1 baby 9.5, 1 th9, 4 th8s.

We actually have an advantage...

Couldn't get a war last night.

We have one engineered account and tried to spin a 15v15 war. After an hour I pulled that engineered account out and spun again. An hour after that I stopped the search for the night, it was getting too late.

War searches are normally 30 minutes or less in the past, never (in 2.5 years) have we waited an hour for a match before last night.

Not mad - just reporting what happened to the community. I hope SC is reading this thread.

Surprisingly our match took less than 5 minutes...

Matches are really pretty good for us. No complaints. Btw I see no evidence that leaving engineers out of your lineup will get you a better or more even match. May as well load up with all who want to war. Share the fun.

My clan is unable to find a 25 vs 25 matchup since the update. It timed out after 24 HOURS OF SEARCHING!

That's probably true. The MM was pretty wild and if I bring the same war roster 4 wars in a row the types of opponents I get can range from rushers to maxers to engineers.

Lets see how this September "improvement" does.

Although they have 2 TH11s both with GW (both lower levels) no EA I see this is a fairly even match (or in our favor) because many of their bases are .5s. I will update this later with weights (tonight or tomorrow) once battle day starts.

Their two 11s will probably not 3 star (even with their low level wardens) unless they they hit our TH9s.

If they both had lvl 20 wardens &/or max king and queen it might be a different story but those two barely have mid level king and queen.

3.5 hrs on a 10vs10 and still going! Didn't you guys already tried to improve the mm before, resulting in a ridiculous long search time then had to revert back after realizing how stupid it was? I guess you never learn...

Since the matchmaking was changed we have never met so many engineerd clans, barely ever saw them earlier.

This time we have 1 TH11, our opponent have 6 TH11. They do not have good heroes, but they just do three star with lavaloon again and again...

That's not necessarily a bad matchup just because they have 2 more TH11s than you. What troop capabilities do their TH11s have compared to yours? If two of their TH11s are rushed TH10s, then it could be a fairly even match.

First war since 2nd MM update was the first reasonable matchup since the 1st update. Interest is still low, most of our clan is staying red for war, was hard to find even 10 ready:

10v10:
Us: 0/3/5/0/2 (no infernos)
Them: 0/3/4/1/2 (1 inferno)
Top weights:
Us: 71-71-70/67-65-65-63-61
Them: 78-73-70/68-67-65-68

Kinda nice to see some other early 10s instead of 9.11s for a change. Well fought, one-star difference. Hopeful.

My clan just got blitzed by max th11 troops again despite us only having th10 troops. they had 4 th11 but 3 of them had max troops which breezed through our bases. Was a 15 v 15 war so when we have th10 troops only and they have 6 attacks with max troops and high lvl heroes it was no surprise that we lost 44-41. We couldn't 3 star there th11s but tried.

before this new matchmaking was updated we had won 17 out of the last 21 wars, we've now lost 7 on the bounce.

I even made account on forum to tell this, it's just some crazy nonse of the "improvements" you are applying.

Your clan war matching changes came at the worst time for a Max TH11. I have NOTHING to do except war. We are 36 hours into searching with all sorts of different line ups and CANNOT find a match. One time we let it go 24 hours and it just timed out.

War is the only reason I (and many other maxxers) come back to this game. I do want fair wars, I think we all do. But 36 hours of no matching is unheard of.

I'm looking at a post that lacks detail. Simply having 2 less TH11s does NOT make it a bad match up if you don't provide the offense/defense details of the opponent with more TH11s.

Last war our max TH was a TH9. Theirs was a TH10. Was it a bad match up? No, because their TH10 was rushed and effectively a TH9. We won the war.

3 of your top 4 bases are engineered.

Also the rest do matter. If your 9s and 8s are also engineered you're dragging down your top weight, however the enemy dragged it down more efficiently.

TLDR: your enemy beat you at your own game. good luck

i don't like eagles that's why i don't build it, oh forgot to mention their no9 and no 11are th11 defenseless with 10 10 10 heros and level 6 dragon, we have all normal bases except the 3 and 4

That's probably because so few clans play 25v25. Try 20 or 30

we are a two person clan, just me and my girl. I'm a max TH11, she is a MAX TH8, we have an engineered TH10 and some low level TH babies (all with defense).
i have been playing clan war for over two years. always play whatever it's thrown at me. Never complain. so stop whining and just let us play. now with the so called improvements, we can't even get a match! now we have nothing to do.

This is what happened to our clan war also. We ran 40 vs 40 and our #29-40 is a complete mismatch.

Our 29-40 are mid th8, rushed th7, and th6. Their 29-40 are legit th9 with max xbows, 2 max th8, and 2 engineered th10 and 11.

The top ones are still okay, but in total, we lost defense poins by a great number. And our offense poin are similar. They have decent heroes as well.

We just spun our 2nd war since the mma was updated. The first matchup was really bad (in our favor) but this 2nd war looks fair. Here’s the bd’s for both clans... Us: 4 / 9 / 12 - all bases are maxed or 95% + maxed with no .5s and no engineering. Them: 4 / 10 / 11 - also all maxed or near maxed with no .5’s and no engineered bases. The other team has one extra th10 with infernos but we are otherwise perfectly matched. That’s pretty solid imo.
