We just finished our latest 30/30 war. Bd for us was 6/8/12/4. They had 12/8/2/0/2/1/2/2/3.
So our 9 had 2 bases they could fight equally. Or take on a defenceless th4. Fun or boring? You be the judge.
We won, and it came down to the last attack and all is good. But here is the problem: we did not win because we were fantastic, we won because they were ♥♥♥♥.
And half of our clan had nothing to be challenged for.
Give more weight to the warden and th11 troops. That would not solve the current MM, but it would help
I contacted Supercell via ‘contact us’ and someone called Vlada S has responded saying ‘they agree my war match-up is a ‘minor glitch’ and shouldn’t happen again’. Very reassuring... not and leaves us unable to war and a red line in our War Log. Thx Supercell ������
Because the war algorithm is so bad now in the game we’ve all been playing since 13/14 it is clear SC are trying to correct this by bolstering the Builder base and readying it for wars to replace the now cataclysmically ruined main game.
Our clan war team drawn last night are all non-rushed and easy to match against - 1X new TH11 (no TH11 troops yet and max TH10 defences, 2x TH10s 3 xTh9s and 4 TH8s all perfectly balanced. And yet we get our enemy as three TH11s with max troops and a very high TH10. One of the TH11s has no infernos but max air troops.
Obviously we won’t be attacking and once more have to contemplate quitting a game that is broken broken broken.
Just give it up Supercell and stop misleading long-term players you can put this game back together again. So many SC staff when I’ve contacted them via ‘Contact Us’ have sung from the same hymn sheet that it is up to players if they develop lopsided bases. SC sowed the seeds of wars demise knowing that by having defenceless, or even rushed bases, would make warring a non-event for those developing balanced bases.
SC has killed the goose that laid the golden egg.

I'll be honest had all good matches since latest patch....against similar clan types.
Hardly any TH disparity.
So yes, it seems to have worked in terms of clans of similar type.
(Our usual BD 4-5 th11, 4-8 th10, th9s in a 20-30 match).
However, just last night matched a heavily engineered clan, with only th11s, 9s, and engineered 11s.
I could probably cope with that....if not for the fact they have 5 full max def 11s to our 4.
That's where it turns into a dumb match.
I'd be willing to let the extra cover they have slide (let's face it, will need some of it since they have to clear th10s and we don't), but we have to beat them by 1 on th11 3*s.
So no, still not right. But better from my perspective. The more casual clan doing small wars has been getting consistently close or good matches though.
I actally dont mind if the opposite clan have a eagle or two more. Nor if the they have a couple th11 more either. The annoying part is when they bring 5-10 th 3-4-5. That take the fun part away from our bottom half. Now if they are good, they win easy. The funny thing is though, that most of the clans we face with engineered roster is really poor attackers when it comes to hitting 11s,10.5s and 10s. So more often than not we end up victorious.
But it is still boring for our 9s..
Surely it's the having an eagle or 2 more (certainly as part of a full th11) that skews the match?
When you should have to beat someone on th11 3* (apart from th11 wars) that's when you have a problem.
But if you're referring to comedy rushers or talentless engineers, yes, I suppose that's still a thoroughly winnable match.
Still doesn't mean it's a good match though.
Skill should determine the winner yes, but good MM means a small, rather than huge skill difference deciding the outcome.
True, to face double amount of eagles is not fun. And if the opposite clan have 10+more th11 attacks that’s not fun either. But the thing is:We( the th11s) prefer to attack 11s. Yes it would be nice to have several attempts but still, all our attacks are important and challlenging. If we fail we loose and that is not fun. But failure is an alternative for the oppmoding clan as well, even though they must fail more.
But our 9s that are pretty skilled, their attacks really dont matter. And what fun is that? They are the future th10 and 11 and face the alternative to rush, quit or find a clan with no 11.
Right, sorry, I getcha. From a fun perspective, you're right, there's little to no entertainment value for your 9s in there.
I was talking about 'quality of the match' purely from a fairness perspective, in that with no knowledge of either clans attacking skill, it would be hard to pick a winner on paper.
That's how I define a 'good' match.
In a mixed TH clan, the one with more full def th11s should be winning every time (unless have utterly pathetic offence). That's never a good match, no matter how many times it can be overcome by huge skill gaps.
I’m norwegian, so if I gave the impression that I thought the matches was fair, I apologise. That is not what I meant. The MM is as of now unbalanced, and as far as I can tell, it seems as to little weight is added to the warden, any th11 troops and the th11 clancastle.
I think the King and Queen is weighed too heavy. Because a engineered th11 with dragon, loon, a couple of spells maxed, warden and heroes mid lvl, is almost better to bring than a max 10. And that is just sad..
Matchmaking is so stupid now ... an example:
Rushed th10.5 with 30/31/16 heroes and mid th10 defenses against maxed th10.75 with 45/45/20 heroes. Our whole roster looks like this!! (40v40)
How does the new mm algorithm work?
Does it match heroes? Fail!
Does it match offense? Fail!
Does it match defense? Epic fail!
The only thing that works is that we are engineered and get engineered opponents (and that's good!) but we shouldn't get opponents that have stronger offense AND defense. :facepalm:
The search took about an hour I think.
The problem is probably roster engineering. They have 16 defenseless/low defense accounts at the bottom and we have "only" 9.
