we have won wars against a terrible match up. The point is that for 60% of our people the war was no fun. 14 bases in a 20V war had a single cannon and a few tesla. Fun to clear? I think not.

i complained on these forums at the time. Perhaps you missed the post.

but you are right, for every clan who got a bad match and lost, there is a clan who got an easy match and won. Then again, heavily engineered clans have been getting easy matches for ever, nothing new to them, nothing to post about.

engineering was never an issue for us, I often wondered why people complained about it. Now and again we would get a heavily engineered Chinese clan, but not often enough to worry. Post update, it's every war, and I now see why people complained.

this is what is working for us, 11W and 1L since the update on matchmaking. prior to the change we would only win about 3/4 and nearly every war we were down multiple TH11.

we used to think we were just getting lucky but after nearly all of our match-ups this month since the change have been fair it's starting to get beyond the point of luck. we're on a 10 streak and matched against a clan on a 0 streak with the exact number of TH11 as us, new matchmaking is awesome! :)

unfortunately most clans do not fit the criteria that i mentioned but i believe those are the keys to success right now

its a well thought out check list with a lot of logic. But......what do the people who don't fit in with the check list do? You know, the casual players who may be on their way to what you describe, but aren't there yet. Just sit out all wars? Lose all wars?

no arguments about what you suggest, BUT imho, the mm should be good enough to accommodate a wider range of players in terms of a "fair" match up, than just those that you describe. It's why it exists.

I see a lot of good responses in here. Far more than the useless ones. I just wish they would make this mandatory reading maybe some of it would start to sink in Houston we have a problem

Indeed, it would be stunningly noteworthy only if that th11 was so awfully rushed that it had both th8 defence and offence. Those are as rare as hen’s teeth. So I think we can take it as often given that when someone like you says “th11” they do mean something that in fact has at least some defence and offence worthy of the name, rather than something just a shade bigger than a big 10.

The larger point lurking in there is of course that sometimes it is fair to match different th levels - say a max 10 to baby 11, or an extra 8 where you have a 7... and it is desirable in terms of speed of matching given the wide variety of clan lineups out there. It’s veering to the unfair though if it’s always you at the disadvantage and not at the advantage about as often, or where they are considerably bigger than babies when opposite the th below and when that is happening in multiple lanes. To me, for example, there is just no way a fair matchmaker ought ever deliver a match where you are outgunned 3 big eagle big inferno 11s, or where th8s at the bottom look across to see multiple th3s and a defenceless 11.

exactly this.

the problem is there is like 40-50 different defensive buildings and a ton of levels for each one not to mention 45 of each hero level (K/Q) and 20 warden levels. this means that there are at least millions of different combinations of defenses/offense capabilities a base can have and a simple mobile game is never going to have an algorithm able to consistently compute a fair matchup for each and every clan all of the time.

it does a pretty darn good job if you ask me for what it's worth.

the only way they'll truly fix matchmaking in a way that most could say it's fair is if supercell were to start pushing players into certain build progression paths to greatly narrow the potential combinations of bases but that is something they made clear they will not do.

this means they are stuck having to rely on generalizations that will not fit every base.

Case in point we've been match that way a few times it's annoying and I don't think we've actually ever won. Worst match we had.... they had 17 th11 in various stages but all strong on offense matched with our 3 th11. Eagle count was i believe 11-3.

Wow horrible situation as for defenses but are their troops, heroes are lacking behind?
For my exp, this terrible match up 11 eagle vs 3 eagle, most of the time is either they have lacking in heroes & troops or they are engineered (have eagle, 2 inferno and 1 cannon ONLY). Or all ur bases are solid while their's are rushed. That's probably what I can think of.

Edit: Sorry didnt notice u said their offense are strong. So probably they are rushed?

I can’t speak for cjsteve, but there are many reports of a problem with this new matchmaker where in multiple lanes one’s big hero big 10s are facing 11s with max offence, level 2 eagle and upgraded infernos in maxer style clans (ie neither side has anything like a rushed base, .5 or lopsided base in the roster). How badly that impacts the clan depends entirely on how many 11s you run relative to 10s.

Big hero big 10s used match 11s before sometimes on the last matchmaker, but it was usually in only 1 or 2 lanes of say 5, and level 1 eagle level 3 inferno or eagleless but otherwise midway developed 11s. That wasn’t happening every war, maybe one time in three, and usually went with matching either .5 engineered enemy or enemy taking baby 10s or max 9s below those 11s, or sometimes if they had a rushed 11. That is what has changed for many of the maxer style clans running quite a few 10/11 in their rosters. We’ve gone from that previous easy enough to understand situation to inexplicably facing off 89k defence bases with 107k ones, both with high offence.
