Clan War Matchmaking Improvements

We've had terrible matches since the last update and having read this thread and used the experience I have seen in the two clans I am in, I have come to a rough and ready conclusion.

the last update seems to have nerfed the .5 advantage completely. A .5 account is much more likely to be matched against a maxed account at the same lvl, giving no offensive advantage and a defensive disadvantage. I guess it could be argued that's fair.

the main issue seems to be that th11's are completely random both in terms of numbers and offensive/defensive strength. It used to be fairly closely matched (unless facing a totally engineered clan)and could go either way in your favour or not. But since the update, it appears to me that the balance of th11 on each side is overwhelmingly with one side or the other. And, it seems that the match is consistently against some clans, not just now and then. Engineers meanwhile, continue to get matched against clans that are predominantly maxing at each th level.

if I were supercell, I'd be trying to find out a way to even up the number of th11 in matches.

i know they always say they want matches to be found in a reasonable time frame, but we recently had a 1 1/2 hour search and at the end of it we got a match that was stupidly one sided. So we lost another 48 hours. Better to search for 5 hours and get an even match.

I would also like to add that the players affected by their inability to create a good matching system needs to be considered. I have three players that will not be able to 3-star their targets pretty much they could Scout for us but that's it. In all fairness to them why don't you consider them? Do they not matter I mean they're just at the bottom of the war map I mean who really would care they're not awesome players? The answer is yes they matter and yes you should care and yes they should have a fair chance to attack and get war stars. They are not the best players in the world they don't have the strongest troops but when they three star they get so excited and they brag and brag and brag and it's so cute especially if they're younger which I have a son he's Young he plays and gets excited when he 3 stars but when he is in war matched badly against engineered he really has no chance to do anything and that upsets him greatly and that is no fun. So why you let this process continue there are people out there that are upset by it and if you really cared you would fix it because the customers matter you wouldn't have a company if it wasn't for us.

i think the surrender needs to be after battle day starts. Clan offers a surrender, opposing clan makes all the attacks it wants to make, then accepts surrender as and when it chooses to do so.

It would'nt save prep day time, or any time if the opposing clan doesn't accept, but it would save some time, some of the time.

I think after 162 pages of comments we can all agree Supercell doesn't care and the MM is garbage and only gonna get worse. Until they address the real issue that is, but they won't

I think a much better way is to match max offensive strength as one of the first matching parameters. Following your example, if one clan has 5 TH11s BUT none of them have any TH11 troops, then they are essentially TH10s and they can match with a clan with no TH11s (provided that their defenses & other matching parameters are also a match.)

Lately our clan has been doing 15v15 wars with 4-5 non-engineered TH9s at the top (and zero TH10s or TH11s). We're always getting matched with clans that have TH10/11s low on the map with one or two max troops (i.e. L5 valks, L7 loons, L6 dragons). All it takes is one of those max troops and they can flatten our TH9s and get a perfect 45. If our max troops are TH9-level, then we should not be matching with clans that have troops stronger than TH9 level! I don't care if our opponent has a TH10 with TH8-level defenses.

Everyone SHOULD be able to play the game how they want it. Problem is you're being forced to make engineered bases. Now that's the only way to play it. So, you can only play the game one way, not how you want it

Addressing engineered bases is great but but addess these people whom rush their bases to max their troops with lower defence a clan with no th11s shouldnt face a clan with 7 th11s in a 10 vs 10 war

I think what you are talking about here is important. It’s a flip side or corollary to the whole question of whether engineered bases or rosters have unwarranted advantage: does having them as your enemy make for an equally fun war experience as facing a different style of clan? Personally, I’d say it depends on what it is and where it is. A pile of th3 junk or defenceless bases aren’t fun to need to attack. Only mildly engineered bases mid roster are more fun, an easy job as refreshing occasionally.

But of course that’s not just an issue created by engineering, albeit one far more commonly had for engineering in one’s enemy. Our present all maxer style match, for example, has 13 th11 (all with eagles, 2 of them only young th11) and 2 max th10 facing 12 th11 (all eagles and max infernos), a baby 10 with th9 troops and one level 1 inferno, and 2 max th9s. Now this could be a roster engineering fail by our opponents... and a shame war is such that this should even occur to me as a possibility. But I think it’s more likely just a match where nobody was trying to engineer anything and in which their bottom 3 bases won’t have much fun at all. I wouldn’t call that any great mismatch, as both sides have more than enough strength to take care of the whole map. They have it harder than us in that they almost certainly are going to need to 3 star a small eagle th11 to pull even on stars. But I can’t help thinking that if those bottom 3 really are 3 people’s main accounts, then this matching is a shame in terms of their game enjoyment.

You hit it. Little guys want to have fun too. I miss the days when beginners could go to war with the big guys. I want all the guys who want to play to be able too. I like watching the little guys and their giant or loon raids, I like watching th7s dragon a base...

We are a cl12 clan. Mm changes have destroyed our war record. No enigineered players (about 1/3 .5s) and we have 2 honest th11s vs 6 engineered th11s, and we have no engineered anything. Wars always fail at the top of map. We are all frustrated and wanting to quit the game, and most of us have prudently purchased and used gems, don't mind supporting the game developers. But the mm update which was supposed to match clans of similar play style has now all of a sudden matched us with overly engineered loophole exploiting gemmers, and we are at the end of our rope. My suggestion is one weight for offense, one for defense, use the greater of the two in mm. Kill the engineered loophole nonsense. At this point, we don't know whether to keep playing the game honestly, or just try to turn to the dark side and over-engineer our players, which would take years to recover from if SC ever comes to their senses. We have actually discussed a war moratorium to see if it gets fixed, and eventually all 40+ of us quit playing if it doesn't.

Your stated goals have failed in the most inglorious manner. My clan tries to play the game as apparently intended, but your recent mm changes have nearly totally destroyed us. And you guys were so upset with th sniping, but you are accommodating engineered bases and killing honest, even upgraders. Smfh.
