Clan War Matchmaking Improvements

The only improvement that I sense has happened is clans with very extreme roster engineering, such as half of their roster being very low weight, are being matched against similar clans (which is why it sometimes takes 8+ hours to match). There are probably other small ones that are not as apparent. There are big problems still pretty clearly there, though.

To further expand on the post you quoted, we HAVE seen improvements in the matches since the update went into place and that is what I was referring to when I stated we were happy about that. However, that does not mean we're completely satisfied with it either. We recognize that further iterations are needed and further changes will be made.

We have some additional proposed tweaks planned that we'll talk about when they're ready to be discussed in the next couple weeks.

Thanks for the feedback. FWIW I agree, there have certainly been improvements overall with the MM update. Kudos to SuperCell for that. However, I would be remiss if I didn't state my displeasure at continued issues with the GW in matchmaking. Specifically- how a max to near maxed TH10 can be seen as a fair fit to be paired with a 40/40/15+ TH11.

Surely the dev team can see this isn't equal. And the stock answer of just upgrade to TH11, isn't an end all solution. There are many reasons for segments of Clash players to max their TH10- even remain as a TH10 for some time (League play that Clash likes to stream and promote, for one).

I'd be fine if the answer is simply, the dev team doesn't care or want you to be a maxed TH10. Just let us know. An answer is ten times better than being left in the dark, dealing with an issue that is about as old as the introduction of the GW itself.

Feedback on the forum doesn't seem very positive. Of course there is reporting bias, but even so, it doesn't seem great. And some of the matches described in detail look very wrong.

And the few wars I've seen haven't been great. Our last 2 looked fairly horrible, and we were only rescued by the fact the first enemy didn't attack at all, and the second started to, before being wiped out by either the octupus or some clan drama. We can't keep relying on them not attacking to have a chance :unsure:

The majority of posters here seem to have been matched up unfairly with a clan they have no chance of beating. Where are the people shouting about the easy match ups? Surely this must be 50% of players...

A good question indeed. Unless there's some sort of "Lopsided bases count", that can be quantified to some degree, I'm not really sure how the Dev team are able to quantify "improvements in the matches".:unsure:

Doesn't SC have that info? When I post that a random spin of 6/10/14 paired with 12/6/12- who is to say I'm being factual? I just don't see how it would be any more pointed to see a list of numbers. Which kinda dovetails into my next question:

Is it simply based on final score? That would be IMO the worst way to determine whether matches are fair or not, and if SC needed an explanation as to why, then we are all doomed. If that isn't the answer...then doesn't SC have the data? All those random spins where TH10s are seeing TH11s on the other side of the war map?

There have been a few of those, mostly troll threads which undermine the credibility. The ones I've seen indicate clans using lopsided bases are still getting favorable matchups. The extreme use of lopsided bases (i.e. almost half the line up are defenseless or using TH3s/TH4s) are now getting paired up with similar clans and facing extraordinarly long search times.

Our wars since the update have been pretty decent matches. We lost two and won two. We do small wars with pretty tight spreads. Th8 to 10. We have everything from maxers to rushers (not engineered - rushed). Pretty typical casual clan. Put in whoever is available. Only one war (first after update) put us up against what I would call engineered bases. Rest are just as messed up as we are. A key difference between our clan and those with matching problems seems to be we don't have any th11s in war. Maybe that keeps us away from the hard core engineer clans.

So the clans that are getting the good matches now all think that every war they undertake will be in their favour? Unlikely.

I think there's a lot of exaggeration or half stories told when it comes to unfair match ups. Especially when it comes to being open about their own line ups.
