Original trees
So I've got a little problem here: I feel like I need some more space, and also, having animals covered by trees kinda makes it slightly more difficult to find them easily when feeding them. However, I don't want to cut down too many of the original trees. Ideally, I'd like to keep as many as I can. I like what my little forest looks like xD. Although, I think it could also look very nice with less trees. Having already cut down most of the overlapping trees, I'm trying to find out, how I should proceed with cutting/chopping them down. Which ones need to go, and which ones do I keep? It's such a hard decision!
Thus, my question is: Do you have any suggestions? How did you go about it, or how would you go about it if you'd start over (in case you've chopped them all down and kinda regret doing so)?

Hi, Saturn!
go with what you like. It's okay to have some open area as well. Much easier to feed the chickens when they are in plain view.
now we have the option to buy some seasonal trees so cut what you need to expand, grow and thrive!
you will be able to buy green trees back as well, so you can have a mix of native, seasonal and green trees.

that's a good question, and i've read many people say they regret chopping down some of the original trees. this, especially before the other 'seasonal trees' have been released, and on that note i'll also point out that those trees are appropriate for 'autumn' but not necessarily halloween, or winter / christmas.
i took a kinda hybrid approach. when i started playing i didn't even realize they'd change. however, i wanted to leave some of them to give the farm a bit of a more 'natural' type look, so i left several, while clearing what i needed for placing the production aspects of my farm (pens, machines, etc.) where i wanted them for a production-focused farm design. in other words, it's ok to chop some of them down!
i think most of the production-focused parts of my farm are pretty compact, and i left the originals around the perimeters, and around the farm house. i've augmented them with bought trees (mostly the big pines) where appropriate. it's kinda hard to describe, but i think my farm looks pretty 'natural' .
if you want to see what i'm talking about, send me a pm and i'll give you my tag.

It's really a matter of preference but more to your question about regret I completely cleared the land and sort of wished I had kept some. So when the last land expansion came along I decided to keep some. That lasted until I tried to rearrange my farm and just couldn't do what I wanted. So I cut them all down again and don't regret doing so. I decided I would rather have 100% useable space and not hindered by immovable trees. I can use purchased trees where I want them and it looks fine.
I do however, hope that we get some snowy winter trees like the fall trees.

I don't think I can help you very much. I chopped all my trees down as soon as I got saws way back when my farm was just a baby. I don't regret it either. If you want the natural look just buy the trees in decorations then you can move them around as much as you like. Personally I don't like cluttering up my active farm with decorations. I have had it in the same layout since I started the game and now I act on instinct to find my machines. Changing the decor would make me take too long to remember where all my machines are. :)

Nearly all of the trees that have been chopped down on my farm were chopped by accident 😖😢. It's FAR too easy to do.
I wish there was an 'undo' option, even if it cost diamonds, for the accidental choppings.
I had to chop a few in the beginning to fit in an animal pen etc, but really not many. I regret that I had to, but it wasn't really an option.
Personally I don't think the 'bought' trees look as natural and obviously they don't change with the seasons. I LOVE the trees that have pumpkins on them during Halloween for example. I have quite a few trees that I've won with gift cards, but they just sit in storage. I do like them, but if I want a tree somewhere I plant a fruit tree. (Town still has most of the original ones).
I get 'tidy farm' envy sometimes, the lovely neat rows of fruit trees, & clear grass. But you can't have it all ways!
