Update - a few guidelines
It's perfectly okay to:
*Choose the person you feel is in the greatest need. It's your stuff you're giving away, you have every right to decide who gets it.
*Ask for proof that someone is in need of the item
*Turn somebody down if you feel they are being greedy.
*Restrict your offer to new players by stating the level that it's open to.
*Claim if you're an established or higher level player (if you're cheeky enough) but if you claim those coveted planks, make up for it by giving away what you get lots of!
*Keep your arrangements on the thread if you don't want to get bogged down with PM's.
Its not okay to:
*Post up post up requests for specific, or indeed any items.
*Respond to people asking for specific items
*Pester players who give, either by PM or Kik messenger asking for more freebies.
*Be greedy. We can all see who you are and it's not a good way to win popularity.

Almost a week ago, I received a KIK message from someone not in my contacts (and a name I didn't recognize) asking to buy "[my LEM] for full price" and then immediately sent another note apologizing that they had the wrong user. Since I do not participate in any of the trade threads, I had to assume it was associated with this thread. After looking back through the posts, I thought it may have been for items in an offer that had not been claimed, so I contacted the person who made the offer.
Although it took us a bit to connect, the other person confirmed that they did, in fact, get a request to sell the items they were offering on the thread. They also indicated that this has happened more than once.
The portion above the dashes are the rules/guidelines that are the very first post in this thread...I have bolded the segments that are pertinent to the reason for this post.
1. Please don't ask for items, only claim offers, and please remember to keep the term "trade" out of describing the events and transactions. This thread has been so helpful to so many, we don't want it to become earmarked as a trade thread and closed down.
2. It's NOT OK to contact those who post in this thread with offers and ask for other things for free! If you have items needed for your boat or for upgrading and you are hoping to find someone who may have some extra to sell, by all means, contact your friends/neighbors for those items, making it clear that you are looking to BUY those items from them, IF they have the extra and are willing to depart with them.
3. We need to be able to trust everyone who posts on this thread. If those making offers get people asking for more than what's offered, they may decide not to provide offers any longer, for fear of being pushed for more. If no one makes any offers, there will be nothing to claim, and the thread will die.
Please remember to treat others as you would like to be treated, i.e., be courteous, don't pester/push for more than what is offered, and don't belittle anyone making offers that you don't think is worthy of "giving" away...you may not need those "lesser" items right now or maybe you don't think only offering 2-3 of something is enough, but it could make the difference between someone getting a leg up on their production, or filling all their crates for a boat, etc. (No one's done this last one, as far as I know, just trying to cover some bases. :) )
Please PM or KIK me if you experience these or other infractions "behind the scenes" from this thread so that if it appears necessary, further action may possibly be taken.
