you guys all have good points. Let's just hope Supercell does good in this coming update. My point is just that I feel like players should be allowed to play the game however they want and not get punished for it. Darius even said they were concerned about this and want to make sure players can still play the game however they want after the update. Let's hope so.
I think you'll find that the majority of the community would agree with you, with the added caveat that "not get punished for it" also translates to "not give an advantage to".:)Quote:

if we want those choices to be possible, then there is an inherent advantage/disadvantage built into the game.

i truly don't understand equality for all, and don't think the game has ever been that way. it has never matched exact equal to exact equal and "never will"?
choice = consequence. good or bad.
on the other hand...
you could debate all day long, legitimately, about the math behind each unit/building/etc..
I would agree that the MM hasn't matched "exact equal" to "exact equal". This might be idealist, but any realist would suggest this is extremely unlikely given the variables that exist.Quote:

"Not get punished for it" suggests to me that two opposing sides are not even close to matching in strength. It suggests that one side has an overwhelming advantage.
Take this a step further, and I was trying to imply that, yes, ok, one side should not have an overwhelming advantage, BUT neither should the other!:)
I think they are going to try to stop punishing players for upgrading their base in a certain order. At least I hope that is what will happen.Quote:

It sounds like you are asking for a system that does a better job of evaluating the relevant offensive and defensive strengths of different bases then does a better job of matching different clans but giving each a relatively equal chance of winning. Hmmmm, that sounds like a matchmaking algorithm. Maybe SC could work on that.Quote:

I think the only consequence for engineering will be longer wait times for war. The more exotic your accounts the longer you will have to wait for a match. I think Darian tipped his hand when he talked about how they handled "twinks" in world of war craft. It worked okay at first, but queue times got longer and longer as fewer people participated. It wasn't as much fun not being able to dominate "average players" or sit in battle ground queues for hours waiting for a battle. "Twinks" just kind of went away on their own.
If they do implement a system like that, I'd imagine it will work okay at first, but people will loose interest or realize it's not worth it and slowly transition their bases to something more average to beat the long queue times. The closer a clan roster gets to average, the faster the queue time would be.
Then we will see just how many are actually into the strategy of engineering as a challenge and how many are in it just for easy wars.

I think the mm should better accommodate the differences and match better. Throughout history their have been great sporting series where 1 team was defensively superior and their opponent was offensively superior. They were able to have competitive matches, with the differences. I don't know why an engineered clan couldn't match a non engineered clan (with equal skills) and have a competitive war.
