Uneven match!!...ENGINEERED BASES

So....I read that as....we are changing things, but we'll tell u this time. Given u haven't ever published the matching algorithm, but slip things like gold storage weights in war=war weight, etc...we discover on our own. Engineering is simply that, adapting to the written or unwritten rules of the game.

Notice BB avoids minimaxes by requiring buildings? It's basically an acknowledgement you don't want them. It is a way of being transparent, by requiring them.

The transparency, though hasn't been direct and upfront, that's the missing piece.

The best fix would be to change the MM so that clans with engineered accounts would match against each other. Maybe even have two different MM pools, one for engineered clans and other for normal clans. No one would be forced to drop defences on their engineered accounts, but they always could once they get tired of going against other similarly engineered accounts. There probably would need to be some kind of warning on both war participant selection list and somewhere on the actual account stating that you don't have enough defences to qualify as a "balanced" account.

agreed, my clan decided to quit wars because of engineering and, consequently, we took a break from the game (because war is the most important feature of the game for us)

I won't allow myself to get hyped from what darian said, I don't want to get frustrated with supercell anymore, but it would definetely be great if they found a way to remove engineering from this game

But then you would be effectively splitting the MM pool and creating smaller MM pools which from what I have read on here would make the MM job even more difficult. Seems lioke a decent amount of savvy programmer/developer tech people have all agreed that a small MM pool will result in more mismatches, but maybe I am not correct in that assumption.

Also what is a balanced base? There is nothing in-game or stated by SC that I am aware of that defines the term balanced. I just created a new thread on this subject in this subforum because I beleive it is an interesting topic of conversation that likely may not have a black and white answer.

Fair enough, I used an improper adjective. I apologize. I don't think non-engineers aren't smart. I do however think a lot of the ones on this forum have a hard time adapting.

Have only commented on these types of threads a few times, as we just don't match engineers often (and probably because our win streaks are never long), but it seems the majority of those perceived 'bad' draws do involve wardens. I know the ones we get do. Just can't be that hard to spot those among the 8 and 9 level weights and match them accordingly. One can argue any way he wants, but in a game that constantly balances and rebalances in order to supposedly dodge easy game play at the top, it only makes sense that heavy balancing at the mm level should happen more often. In a game that promotes defending being just as important as attacking, one should at least have to make an honest effort to do so or face a consequence...not be rewarded.

Just like every other time there are adjustments, smart people - regardless of their play style - will adjust accordingly..

I am excited to see what happens just for ensuing forum activity about whether it was enough. I will be surprised to see the wholesale elimination of engineering using the BH model but then I have been wrong before...

I agree, it does suck, we faced the same thing before learning to adapt to the matchmaking rules of the game in order to stay competitive. You may not have the ability to remove defenses, but you do have the ability to create new engineered accounts, recruit engineered accounts or engineer your main accounts, you just choose not to.

If engineering is not how the game was intended, which I'm sure it wasn't, and everyone should max out their bases for ultimate performance in wars, then this should have been fixed long before so many people have worked so hard on their engineered accounts.

I totally agree. So, when I realized the advantage engineering had (12 months ago) I stopped being balanced. I am guessing you didn't see any engineering over the past 2 years into the game.
