I tried this a little while ago (before the update, but that's irrelevant), and guess what happened. The balloons never caught the hogs. With a large enough group, they should be able to outrun the balloons even if they stop to destroy buildings. This, oddly enough, would be most likely to be the case if it was against an "island" base, because the hogs wouldn't actually be headed towards the balloons. Otherwise, the CC is most likely lurable using a golem or something.
