I've just deleted my photobucket account (4664 photo's since 2007), couple of years paid customer.
They have blackmailed me. Either i pay 399,99 dollar a year or i can't share photo's anymore. So i just deleted my account there. So if you're using that, AND you want to share pics over here: impossible unless paying 400$.
I'm going to use flickr or Imgur :D
All my placed photography here was shared with photobucket, so don't be surprised if you can't see my photo's anymore :)

I had the same notice. I was appalled. I have loads of pics on there. I'm not about to pay &400 to use that service. It's crazy talk. I had wondered if it was some sort of scam email. But maybe not. They do say they are a sharing/hosting service that is free unless you pay the $2.50 a month to go ad free.

i thought you must have had tons of photos and required an advanced account with tons of storage, or have a lot of bandwidth views, etc. but nope! anyone who wants to post photos anywhere has to spend $400/year. that's crazy talk. they are out of their mind and i bet they'll go down over this one...
Thanks for the heads-up, Vfrood. I think photobucket is probably not the only one of the free sharing sites that is changing their policies. I read somewhere that Dropbox has also changed their photo sharing rules. It's possible that we've overloaded them. I know that I have not been selective about what I have on photobucket. The good news for me is that I only use if for Hay Day; the bad news is that all the photos and screenshots I've included in old threads will probably disappear.
I hope SC is considering this in their plans to improve the forum. In a way, it reminds me of when Apple ditched GameCenter and we were left up in the air for quite a while.
Lol; photobucket... that awful website that always took an eternity (30-120 seconds on a regular day) to load anything and was known to in some cases crash your browser and/or computer? And they are now trying to charge 400 dollars a year for that? Lol.
It's also a trip down memory lane for my hayday farm in some ways. Oh well. I'm not paying so I guess that's lost now.Quote:

I did have a Photobucket account a while back before I had kids to put all the GFX stuff I created, back when I had time to do that artsy stuff.
It was free way back when, now your paying $400 a year or you can't see your images on 3rd party sites? That really is random, I hope everyone cancels their accounts and they go bust!

I just checked a website I helped create many years ago, it's inactive now - but OH MY GOD!!! What an eye sore with all the 3rd party images everywhere. That is so sad. :(
I can only imagine how frustrating that would be for those who have active websites using Photobucket. It's ransom. How can they get away with that?
Thankfully in recent years I have just been using tinypic. But that is mainly because I just don't host much anymore.
$400? Do they WANT to go out of business? :saywhat: I get that it costs money, but sheesh... that is just greedy and insane.
I agree with Daz, I've just been using tinypic if I need to do the 3rd party image hosting thing. Photobucket really went downhill and took way too long to load, log into, upload anything to, and in the end it often didn't work anyway.
