Thanks for speaking up for the newer players, Haystacker. We are a little under-represented on this forum.
That said, I'm not overwhelmed by the sanctuary either. I'm just gonna let the PPs accumulate however, whenever. The animals are cute, and I guess new deco is nice (though I'm not a big deco person to begin with), but the level of effort is way high relative to the rewards.
I'll spend my time growing other areas of the game, until there's nothing left to do but finish the sanctuary. That will be months and months from now, so by then who knows? I might have collected all the PPs anyway.
overall rating = meh
I think the Sanctuary was supposed to bring something extra for us to do and also for high level players but I'm still puzzled as to what it's supposed to add for them and the game in general!! Yeah they might be cute, yeah the drops are insignificant compared to farm animal drops but what does it bring to the game, imo NOTHING what so ever. Unless they redesign its purpose as a mini game or something similar other than a cash cow, pardon the pun then it's just a drab update with no purpose to the overall gameplay.
Few good ideas in here to change/add and improve its purpose but until that time it's just pointless to everyone.
I thought the sanctuary would be something like a "new building". Townies want to visit and look at the animals for a certain time. Just as they are in a certain period of time in other buildings. During this time they could drink, eat cakes or ice cream.
So I hoped for six new places for townies ;-)
When the update was there, I recognized my deception. That is why I am probably also disappointed.
And I don't know why I should spend hundreds of diamonds for a second animal.
It's really just a 'something else to work towards' addition, as opposed to something that improves game-play. We have almost non existent interaction with it.
Occasionally you look at the animals and wake them up every 10 hours; I appreciate that would have taken a fair bit of work to implement - but for basically the entire update to be focused on something that doesn't really improve game-play at all is indeed underwhelming.
An update like that really needed to packaged together with some other improvements to make it worth while. So many long term requests we have been asking for, it was the perfect time for SuperCell to actually put improvements into the town and they did nothing; also there was no fixes to the recent booster update (booster management still sucks, we are still FORCED into taking 2 boosters per week in derby) and NONE of them got addressed.
I appreciate the Sanctuary, but to wait 3 months for ONLY that and some underwhelming derby changes is, disappointing.
I wish I'd said that!! I agree 100%.
We are always excited when there is an expansion to the game territory, and we were expecting an expansion in the town. When the update arrived and the expansion is little more than a giant animal pen that we can decorate but not interact with, we are baffled.
At least our pets walk around our farms; at least we can use the space around our pet houses.
The fishing area is another huge space with limited opportunities for interaction, but at least we can "work" it and time spent there contributes to the farm economy.
I find it unbelievable that nothing was even tweaked in the town itself to add more interest and facilitate game play. As daz says, there are long-term, repeated requests for reasonable improvements to the town that would have been really exciting for daily town players and might have lured non-town-lovers over more frequently.
