Hi Fette!
I'm delighted to see you've decided to give Hay Day a try.
All of the advice above is good; HD forumers are very helpful!
The point I would add is that there is no right or wrong way to play. There are many different playing styles; all of them are valid - just play the way that suits you.
Have fun!
Oh -- and tap on red boxes that you'll find on both your farm and other people's farms! Some are free to open and you'll sometimes find vouchers in them!
But I would not advise you to spend diamonds on them, unless you have an unlimited supply of diamonds! Save your diamonds for opening up productions spaces on your machines -- animal feed, dairy and sugar mill being the most important (in my opinion).
Welcome to Hay Day fellow kitty lover!
Who reads stickies and strategies? I do! Lol. When I discover a game I enjoy I read everything I can about it.
So my best piece of advice might just be that. Read the new to Hay Day section. Some wonderful people have gone to a lot of work organizing, collaborating and putting tons of useful information there.
I don't know about Clash but Hay Day is so rich in options that many of us have played for months, even years without knowing that you can send a boat away if you don't want to fill it or that you get diamonds for the first time you catch every new fish. I know you're not there yet. Or that the number of any item you have is listed on the tabs of your production machines as well as in your barn.
2nd piece of advice. Have fun! There is no finish line, no competition unless you opt in to the derby(later) and then it's only as competitive as you want it to be.
Cats cost tickets, tickets are gained from doing boat orders. The ticket you get from a boat is random and you will not know the ticket until order is done.
If you are only here for the cats find a good neoghborhood to help you fill the boats.
All animals dogs, horses, etc require tickets so do not spend them. Save them all for the cats if that is what you want.
I can no longer see the ticket amount for the cats and kittens as they have been bought but they should be here somewhere.
Different cats will be availabe at different levels.
Good luck.
If you want coin I suggest you invest in fruit trees and then sell off all the fruit at full price. The boats and movie tickets can help you get vouchers for your cats. Truck orders are not very profitable but they can get you xp but I would stay away from the farm visitors they always want the good stuff and never give a good price. :)
Haha thank you :), better late than never eh? Yes that's the plan...have fun and build the biggest baddest kitty farm the world has ever seen :smirk:
In the meanwhile I have already noticed that Farmers are very welcoming and friendly. Love it :caticon:

Welcome to the light side Fette :)
My basic advice would be just to enjoy the game at your own pace. And generally speaking pick priorities of what you want to work on.
Sometimes it can be overwhelming between things to do but just pick what you want to work on and take it one bit a time.
Things like expanding land, and barn and silo upgrades are long haul projects comparable to wall grinding or hero grinding in clash.
In my opinion diamonds are best spend on production slots in your machines, especially the sugar mill and dairy factory. Don't hesitate to get all 9 slots. They'll be needed and well worth it. The more you can make overnight the more you can sell for coins.
A few "pitfalls" to watch for is leveling up "too fast" when you fall too far behind with unlocking machines and don't have the coins to buy the items you could get stuck on boats and trucks as they ask for things you cannot make without those machines. so make lots and sell lots in your shop and all for max price.
Another one is overzealous tree and bush planting and harvesting fruit too much. Make sure you keep up with your saws and axes or your farm can get overrun with dead trees and bushes.
At times it seems like a cute little farming game but there's quite a bit of strategy and resource management behind it all.
Last but not least you know your way here and can always ask for advice on certain subjects as theres loads of tips and tricks and it would be a novel to list them all here.
