The update to the "News" section is great! Let's update the "Profile" page now.

With the most recent update, the "News" section has been modernized which led me to thinking about how the "Profile" page has become more jumbled over the years and needs an update as well. This is going to be a very long read, but if anyone important sees this (Design & Development Teams, I'm looking at you!) please take the time. I've thought through it considerably.

Now, I'm terrible with any type of photo-editing (notice I censored my image with Paint) so I'll do my best to describe what I think would look great in a way that makes sense.

I have a few talking points:

• Re-arrange tab locations
  
  • In order to fully implement my idea, we'd have to re-arrange tabs.
  • First, the "My Profile" tab would be moved to a newly redesigned "Profile" page with all new tabs.
  • Secondly, the "Clans/Social" page would now accessed only from either tapping on the Clan Castle and choosing "Clan," or choosing your clan name at the top of the chat.
  
  
• New tabs
  
  • The new "Profile" page would have 4 tabs: "Overview," "Home Base," "Builder Base," and "Achievements." This would be visible to yourself and others alike, as it is now.
  • "Overview" Tab (Previously, "My Profile.")
    
    • [REDESIGN] The first section is currently split in half -- the new section should use the entire horizontal space allowed in the page.
    • This section includes your XP Level + Progress Bar, much bigger with your current experience out of the required amount (numbers, not just the bar.)
    • Below the XP Level + Progress Bar should be smaller text indicating TOTAL XP (all levels, plus current, combined.)
    • [NEW] Also, add some incentive to continue gaining level above 100. New decorations that can only be obtained after reaching Level 100, 125, 150, 200, etc.?
    • [NEW] Clash of Clans join date (if that's data that was ever recorded) should be shown here.
    • [NEW] Below that section, should be a section that's of our own creation. Let us upload an avatar, have a motto and a bio. Let us set our location. Similar to the forums. This allows for further user individuality, increased from just a name and player tag. Let us link our forum username and player tag, then add a badge to this section that shows that we're linked.
    • [NEW] Last section: This final section would have a new type of achievement. These types of achievements are generally earned on website forums (and they'll need a different name to separate them from our current achievements.) These would be like Reddit and Snapchat's "Trophies." Have images that populate for "1-Year Club," "2-Year Club," etc., then also maybe things like, "Purchased Gems for another player" (Akin to Reddit's buying gold), "5th Anniversary" (Played the game on the day of its 5th Anniversary," "Clashmas," (Played the game on December 25th, any year.) This would promote incentive to play the game, but also provide some 1-time achievements and others with multiple chances to earn the badge. (Hey, they could be called "Badges"!)
    
    
  • "Home Village" Tab
    
    • [REDESIGN] The top section here would show be "League Information." Shows your current league + trophy level as it does now. Below it, your current attacks/defenses won this season are shown, plus season remaining time. In smaller text below, your attacks won/attacks total and defenses won/defenses total (overall) should be displayed. All time best could stay like it is now. Troops donated and received should be on top of each other with more emphasis now.
    • [REDESIGN] The next section should be all about wars. Have the clan shield as large as the league shield is currently, with the clan name displayed to the right where the league name is currently and have total war stars won where the trophies are currently.
    • [REDESIGN] The next section should be like the TH/Troops/Spells/Heroes section is now, but bigger (the same size at the top section) and when you click on the TH, the screenshot image of your base should be displayed full-screen on your device.
    • [NEW] Last section: This is where things get interesting. Something I've always done for myself and my friends is a "Base Score," but we've come to having 2 scores named, "Offense Score/Defense Score." This is a number calculated on a formula that provides an artificial "Score" showing how strong your base is. Here's my formula: Attack Power + HP (of each defense) / 100. That gives me a defense score of 586. (The answer before dividing is 58,606 and we know that people like bigger numbers, so why not leave it as a defense score of 58,606?) Then I'd do the same thing for each troop + spells + heroes to gain the "offense score." If your offense score is considerably higher than someone's defense score, then you should theoretically be able to beat their base easily.
      
      • This does 3 things:
      • 1.) Facilitates friendly competition to have a higher score
      • 2.) Promotes upgrading of troops/defenses (more playing)
      • 3.) Allows for decisions on war attacks to be better made
    
    
  • "Builder Base" Tab
    
    • This section will be similar to the "Home Village" tab, minor changes excluded.
    • [REDESIGN] The top section should be akin to the top section above, but included new leagues with new shield icons and new names.
    • [NEW] There should be a new icon to view someone's builder base from this tab.
    • [NEW] Include a new section that also calculates the offense and defense scores for the builder base.
    
    
  • "Achievements" Tab
    
    • [REDESIGN] The "Home Village" and "Builder Base" buttons from the current profile tab would be moved to this last tab on the new profile page.
    • [REDESIGN] Home Village achievements would be shown by default with the option to switch back and forth between the two with the buttons at the top of the tab.

I'm extremely interested to hear feedback! I write programs on the side and I have the intentions of designing one that will be my "Artist Rendition" of what I'm imagining. If you made it to the end, thank you!

I do like having more information available. The more, the better, so long as you have have the option to hide certain information at your own discretion, as is common for expansive profiles. Though I do have a couple of issues.

I don't know what SC plans on doing with the social tab. I dunno why it exists or if it will ever expand. That said, some of the additions you've proposed, like an avatar and bio, seem a bit out of place. I think of CoC as a game where you don't need to know anything besides a screen name and a playstyle to have fun with someone. There are a significant number of people in my clan who don't even know my real name. And I'm okay with that.

The other thing is the offense and defense scores. Matchmaking in war is a touchy subject here, and you might get varying answers from the community, but as a whole, the weights of defense, offense and all of their individual parts are kept as close to the chest as possible to minimize possible manipulation of the war matchmaker. So displaying that information on profiles is not likely to happen.

That said, I'd be very interested if you could provide visuals. I can see the information that could be included, but I can't see what you'd want it to look like. An artist rendition would be fantastic!

First, I'd like to thank you for your well-thought response. I have some rebuttals and some agreements that I'd like to address!

• Social Tab
  
  • The "Social" tab is an interesting topic. It has most assuredly grown from its first implementation.
  • I have my Clash of Clans account linked to my Facebook profile. "Friends," for me, is a neat place to check my real-life friends' progress. I'm not in a clan with any of them, so it allows for tracking progress (as weird as that may sound) and I'm a fan.
  • Other than that one point, I don't see much of a use for it either.
  
  
• Expansive Profiles
  
  • My rebuttal here is that, in my free time, I play Destiny on the Xbox One. While I entirely agree that you don't need anything more than a screen name to enjoy gameplay, sometimes the attraction is purely individualism -- as it is for me. I like to separate myself from other gamers/people by the things I have in my bio. That being said, I'd never put my real name on my Xbox Gamertag Bio or my Clash of Clans Bio. Maybe my favorite band and I can connect with people in that way.
  
  
• Base Scores
  
  • This was something I fought with posting because I've seen how sensitive of a topic Clan Wars are both on here and on Reddit. However, I eventually decided to post it because the data (score) calculated by the formula would be inconclusive. I attempted to convey that through explaining that the number was artificial, but I think a deeper explanation is necessary. The formula that Supercell uses to determine how war matches are made is positively far more complex than the one I've provided. I believe the number provided for a "Base Score" would vary wildly from the actual number Supercell for Matchmaking. Which, in my mind, would result in the "Base Score" becoming effectively useless as a tool of manipulation, emphasizing its initial purpose of being aesthetic pleasing and a number to be proud of as you upgrade defenses and troops.

Again, thanks for the response! Also, for what it's worth, I checked out the Campaign in your signature -- it's a great idea and I voted!

EDIT: I should be done with the application this weekend. Since it won't be a drawing, I can provide screenshots but if you're on a Windows PC, I'd provide the download link so you could play with it to see how it feels!

I read through it all and i do agree it could use a make over. I like alot of the ideas you had. I hope supercell sees this and reads it closely. It would be nice to have updated.

If the base score is intentionally inaccurate, would people still enjoy having it? I dunno, I'm not sold on that bit. I can get behind the rest of it though.

I usually browse on mobile, but I do have a laptop that I use at night, so whichever sharing method is more convenient!

That's not exactly what I was alluding to. If the "Base Score" is calculated with the same formula each time, then you have a constant -- which means it's not inaccurate.

However, the formula that generates the "Base Score" is an entirely different formula than what's used for matchmaking in Clan Wars. Therefore, the "Base Score" would be inconclusive when trying to use it to manipulate Clan Wars.

Okay, I get it. I was conflating it with war weight, my mistakr. Seems innocent enough, can't see why it couldn't couldn't be included

Great thread man!! I also agree the profile should also be updated. Keep up the good work and if possible attach some images of the new profile as it would give some more idea and yo thread would have some more weight.

By the way I think the defense and offence power should be replaced with player weight and the formula for it is number of gold in storages while friendly challenge × number of storages + amount of gold in townhall ÷ by 1000.
