Booster columns: yay (yea) or nay...

There I was naively assuming that nobody liked the dedicated booster columns in the Derby horseshoe goals, when I saw some very persuasive posts supporting them over in the Birthday Derby thread in the News forum. I decided that the topic might be worth its own thread.

I love the boosters, I like receiving 2 boosters per derby, but I don't like the dedicated columns.

more than once they have all been identical, for example faster crops, same crops faster, same crops faster

no choice!


i can also sympathise with those who may not want a booster and would rather choose between an EM, a deco and a booster

you should have made this a poll to get a better idea.

i like that they're an option. but i don't like that boosters are the only option. sometimes i'd rather a tape than a booster. and if it's not a tom booster i don't care for most of them.

I do not like being forced into taking 2 boosters every week from derby. I thought the whole idea of the horseshoe system is so we could get a choice of what rewards we want.

I'd pick vouchers, diamonds, permits and even barn tools before boosters every time...if I could.

I like the boosters. I would be fine with going from two dedicated columns to one however (not that I can reach it anyway ☺)

I think the game would be better if everything was just randomized, all columns from the same pool. Don't have a dedicated column for anything.

Barring that, revamping the experience of having to trash a booster when you get too many would be good. The whole "You're going to trash this on BUT WAIT you can swap it and trash something else" experience is bizarre (and why can't I just activate one?). This happens to me most Monday mornings because I end up with two new boosters and usually only have one free spot (once I had no free spots). As I usually pick up derby rewards on Monday morning while still waiting on the coffee to brew I think it's unlikely that I'll ever consistently remember to check booster slots before collecting the rewards.:facepalm:

+1 for not making a poll with a poor set of choices.

Nay, nay, and nay some more. Would like to see the boosters as random prizes in the horseshoe columns. Instead, they are a mandatory take and usually tash. Waste of two columns we were promised as part of upward movement in the derby categories. Instead, although the columns are there, they are now devoted to forcing a specific type of reward. Completely dislike it.

I love some boosters,but I agree with daz.

Love the boosters (free Tom, free Ernest - yes please!) But I think really as derby rewards they should be randomised. Not everyone will want them, and those who do use them won't necessarily want them every time. Plus, I guess not everyone will reach those columns which seems a bit unfair.

As a solo player who can't get to the higher Horseshoes, (it's only possible to get the first 4 Horseshoes) I'm glad they're mixing it up. I still only get 4 rewards for doing 10x320, but at least I've now got a chance of getting some Deco or a Tom booster which I couldn't before.

The downside is having far less chance of getting a permit. At least before I knew I could get one (with spinning) in column 4.

I would prefer not having horseshoes dedicated to the boosters. Some are so similar to each other that I end up trashing them anyway.

Honestly don't care either way. I like the boosters, so I don't mind dedicated colums. I can totally see the point y'all are making for choice, though!

I would have preferred to choose, too, but it doesn't matter greatly to me. I quite like some of the boosters. Now that I have all my permits, I hope to get more BEMs from Derby again, I hope.

I love boosters overall. There are some really great ones out there but also some I would trash even if they are 5 star. I HATE having two columns dedicated to them. Make them random in all columns. I don't like being forced to take 2 per derby. Maybe SC did that to ensure everyone would get a booster when they first came out. You know if they were random and people did not get many (or any) there would be a "hail"storm of complaints. Who knows why they do anything. I really thought that last sneak peek indicated they would be random after the update.

Exactly! I personally love the Boosters and try to choose ones I will use in coming Derby (and conversely, I try to choose Derby tasks that fit my Boosters). However, the point was made "what if every week were two columns of decos." That I would not like. Deco's are useless, they do not further my game play, and I would def be unhappy having 2 forced on me. For those who don't use the boosters, I see the point.

I like boosters a lot. They are fun and they are pretty new so they are still interesting. The old barn tools are a bit boring as prizes even if they are useful. My neighbourhood usually only gets one column of boosters so it's good for me that it is dedicated because I know I will be getting one. If they were random I think my chances of getting tom or ernest boosters etc might be lower. I only shuffle if most of the prizes are bad ones. I might feel differently if we also got two columns of boosters.

After thinking about this thread and my feelings about the boosters, I have to agree with Rae. I like the boosters, and I use them on my farm, but I frequently find myself taking the "least bad" booster in the column because I won't reshuffle just for boosters.

So I have pie oven boosters, soybean boosters, sewing machine boosters -- all :straightface: I also have Free Tom boosters, shorter nap boosters, and filled boat crate boosters :)

My bottom line is I would like more choice in the horseshoes.

I'd have happily skipped those crop and production boosters for an extra deco, or an EM, or God forbid: an extra PERMIT or PUZZLE PIECE!! LOL

Me and others in my neighborhood hate that 2 columns of derby horseshoe prizes are nothing but boosters. It just means I have to trash 2 boosters. So it's 2 less prizes. I feel cheated. Just mix them in with everything else, so people who don't want them can avoid them. I used to spend a lot of diamonds reshuffling. but I have stopped as long as we are forced to pick 2 boosters.
