An apparently "super important" question!

Hey guys, I'm an avid clash of clans player and my sister has started playing hay day. Well, she slouches all day playing it obsessively, sometimes asking me to download it so I can "buy her crops" or whatever.

So first thing, hello to the hay day forumers! I've been on these forums a while and haven't really been in here to say hi.

The question my sister keeps bugging me to ask you's: how do you get more nails and duct tape? She gets everything else from cutting normal crops and needs them to upgrade her barn and stuff.

Thanks in advance for replies. I should have done a search first but my phones internet is really bad at the moment since I'm out by the sea. Writing a post and waiting for a connection is a better option!

Im fairly new to this side of Supercell myself...Im a COC addict mostly lol altho I am sure there will be more ways I seem to get a lot of them from those red locked chests you see floating around on your farm. I also see those red chests on friends farms & I am able to click on them in their farm & whatever is it I get to keep...Greg's farm has these a lot!!! That is where I seem to get all of mine....hope this helps....clash on lol....

Hi there are couple of ways you can obtain barn items (bolts, duct tapes, planks), silo items (nail, screw, wooden panel), and land expansion.

1. Cropping (especially wheating, I recommend searching for a wheating guide thread, this will explain to you).
2. pets - if you wake them up, there is a chance of getting a random item (make sure you feed them as well).
3. Red tool boxes - a random chance you will get barn/silo items, including diamonds, vouchers, coins, axes, saws. There are times when it's locked, and you can spend 3 diamonds to unlock (NOT RECOMMENDED).
3A. Did you know you can visit your friends farm and if the red tool box appears, you can tap on it to see if it's locked or not?
4. Wheel of Fortune (if you get lucky to land on that spot).
5. Helping others and getting gift cards from the postman alfred.
6. On the fishing area (if you have unlocked it already), spending 5 diamonds on getting the special net (purple color net), and can get you a barn/silo items.
7. Animals (chicken, cow, pigs, sheep, and goats), barn/silo/land expansion items can also be obtained if you collect eggs, milk, bacon, wool, and goat milk.
8. Picking up your items from the production buildings.
9. Sometimes chopping down dead trees/bushes

I think this is all I can think of that can give you the materials.

Just to add my two cents...

I concur with everything KwonChu said. Wheating is my prefer method, specially if your sister plays obsessively, wheating will be perfect for her. Also, FYI, players' farms are randomly programmed to get more or less of certain BEMs (barn expansion materials) and SEMs (silo expansion materials). For example, for the barn I rarely get duct tape but always get tons of planks and bolts (more planks but bolt is pretty close), duct tape is my rarity. From what I read for others is the reverse.

Definitely, I have duct tape enough to build a real barn, but bolts are scarce!

I live on one of those rare Bolt Farms. I get them all the time. So does my mom and sister. But none of us get planks that often. That's what we are missing.

For the SEMS, my farm is constantly "screwing" me. LOL I think the wood panels is what I get the least of when it comes to SEM.

The one thing I have noticed, after I upgrade I tend to get 2-3 of the items that are hard to come by right away and then NOTHING.

My mom and I have started doing this thing where after we get 2-3 planks, one of us sells them to other so our count will go down to 0, and then we seem to get a few more.

It might just be a coincidence but it's working for us.

Xandrasky, is your farm name a play on the big W store? That is so funny! Do your prices in the shop end in 8 as well? ;)

There is another way to obtain these items that hasn't been mentioned...actively peruse the roadside shops of your followers, friends, latest helpers who are not also your friends, and the DD. Someone may have them for sale and you can buy them if you are quick enough, along with anything else you may be in need of. ;)

I was going to post this earlier but wasn't sure whether you would come back to the thread. Can I suggest that you encourage your sister to register on the forum herself. She will find that it's full of helpful people, and that her game experience will be much more fun. We are all here to help.

I told her at first to create a forum account but her first reply was, "What's a forum?" Haha, I don't think she's the most intelligent when based around the Internet.

In answer to your sister's second question, as far as I know, there is no way to make the white house look better...it is the way it will always be. (Somebody correct me if I'm wrong)

As for your feeling that your sister may not easily be able to navigate forums, if she could get onto Hay Day and play and navigate the game, I think she would be able to get on to the forums and figure out a rhythm with threads and posting, especially with her brother's help. ;)

I do not quiet remember so I Googled it. I thought that as you level up the appearance of the house changes. But some other sites are implying that it changes as you accomplish certain achievements.

All I can tell you for sure is that I did not spend diamonds, coins or expanding materials on it . Also, the house stops changing appearance at some point. It has been a long time for me and I do not believe it will change in the future since I have friends who are at higher levels (and those who are in levels 100+ from the boat global leaderboard) have houses that look like mine.

First, I too think the house changes a little bit as you go up in levels.


Second, another way to get more BEMs , SEMs, and LEMs is trading here on the forum. Perhaps big brother should supervise a few times to make sure it all goes well. The Trade Expansion and Mining Items (part 3) thread has some guidelines at the beginning to get you started.


Third, I have recently tried wheating for the first time and I was amazed at how fast I piled up expansion stuff. For awhile I was selling 10 wheat for 1 coin, just to clear my shop fast, but I found it works just as well if I sell 1 wheat for 10 coins. You don't make as much money, but you build up items really fast.
