Boat and voucher colors

Hi everyone, I registered as a forum member only yesterday and this is my first post here, but I had lurked here since I started playing about three months ago, reading the threads, taking info and tips, and musing to myself about the game. English is not my native language and I hope I won't accidentally use some wrong words to express my thoughts in this and future posts. If you see me saying something weird, it could be because of that.

That said, I want to share an observation about boat and voucher colors: Like everyone else I have been getting mostly green vouchers with some blue ones. My boats are usually filled quickly and sent off immediately. But, the first time I sent off a boat hours after arrival, I got a purple voucher. Since then I have been paying attention to what could lead me to get a non-green, and it has happened a few times that I MAY get a non-green if my boat is completed and sent off AFTER many hours. I wonder if anyone else has the same experience, or is this mere coincidence. This morning I woke up to realize that I had yet to fill the last crate and send my boat off, I ended up getting a yellow voucher. If I didn't fall asleep last night, probably I would have gotten a green again? Beside the time factor, my observation is the same as yours that difficult boats don't promise you "prettier" vouchers. Any thoughts?

I have begun to think much the same as when I had 2 boats waiting a bit longer this week I got purple vouchers too.
yesterday my husband had one waiting for about 5 hours and he got a gold one.

I don't know but it is interesting. Usually my boats go off very quickly.:)

You should observe more carefully and maybe just take a day to note down each of your boat. How long does it takes to send off and what colour.

On the other hand, i usually am capable of filling my own boat and dont ask for help on them much. But reading through forums, now i flag one for ppl to fill for xp coins and boat points. What im saying is i always cast my boat off within 10 mins of arriving. Do i get gold vouchers? Yep i do.

So, idk how that helps your theory.

You are right mzmflo, I should record the outcomes for my future boats. I used to follow a high level player whose crates I often helped fill. I noticed that the owner would leave his/her completed boat for a looong time before sending it off. Of course he/she could have been away, but sometimes I wonder if it was on purpose.

I have wondered if there is a correlation with opening the crates. It seems to me that if I open the crates I am more likely to get a better voucher, but if I fill them all myself, I seem to get greens. I have not kept a log to test this idea, nor have I done a randomized trial, but I am just sharing an impression.

i shall run a control after i completed turbo trucker. right now i am not doing any boat orders.

I've noticed that I've gotten more orange vouchers than normal in the last few days. Maybe the odds of getting orange vouchers and purple have gotten easier?

Im thinking a coincidence. I just sent off a boat about 5-6 hours after it arrived, green voucher. I have gotten tons of green vouchers a few blue, 1 purple, 1 gold over the past week. Saving my purple and gold but using the green ones to make fishing lures. Back to the original point, I have sent boats quickly and slowly, I haven't really kept track but I know that I have gotten lots of green vouchers. I don't really mind green vouchers, (though purple and gold would be nice), as most of the fish I need to catch require green lures lol. Overall, I think you're just really lucky LOL. :p

It will be interesting to see if there's a correlation between time at the docks and number of crates open, but I suspect that like everything else in HD, the type of voucher received is algorithm driven and randomly based.

My first boat of the day just a little bit ago was 4x1 choc. ice cream, 4x1 mocha latte, & 4x5 wool. I opened 2 wool crates, filled the rest myself & the boat was gone in under 45 minutes. (Thanks, neighbors! :))

Reward...1 gold voucher, which is the first one I've gotten on a boat order since the two i received on the boat event before the lobster update, yet I've gotten two gold, & about half a dozen blue, purple, & green each from mystery boxes in the meantime. I don't do a lot of truck orders, so can't really say about those, yet am prepping for TT II & TT III, so I'll try to remember to keep notes on those when I start.

Welcome to the forum Strawfairy, lovely to see new people!

Lots of posts, and several threads on this subject over the months. No one so far, has managed to prove anything. Kolonistje (moderator) has done a fair bit of research and is convinced that the vouchers are completely random. I did at one time do a check on the exact percentage value in relation to the diamond value of each of the different voucher colours, and found it to be inexact. The general conclusion has been that though vouchers are random, their randomness is affected by their scarcity value, which of course is not rocket science. However, these anomalies keep turning up, some people feel that difficult boats give better vouchers. Often I have done a really tricky boat thinking that I'll get a good voucher, only time and again to get a green and then suddenly a gold turns up for no apparent reason. The 'longer you wait the better the voucher' theory has also been put forward many times, but doesn't seem to hold water.

On my thread 'Boat Idea', I have listed the vouchers that I got during the last two Double Voucher boat events. On the whole, for me, the vouchers were much better during the event. The thread was set up in order to record the boat order contents, I just recorded the vouchers as an afterthought. I think it might be quite interesting to start a new thread for this when the next boat event comes and get as many people as possible to record their vouchers, anyone interested in doing this?
