Keeping track of our machines production...

Sometimes I sell off every item in my barn to make a load of money fast & start all over. I ignore everything else regarding gameplay. Usually I do this before buying a new machine but this week, I did it because I upgraded the lobster pot (5th) & needed the coin. However, when I sold everything, I thought of something I wanted to ask here on the forum. Does anyone keep track of what they actually produce in a week with all their machines?

Since my barn is empty of product, I decided to start today and keep track of what my machines produce in a week over the next few weeks. I am very curious as to what I make on my farm. I will still sell in my shop or to neighbor’s boats, but I will track the actual making of the products.

I made a “tick off” list of all the products produced in machines, & as soon as something goes into production, I tick it on the list. (yeah, yeah, I have loads of time – NOT) but I do have an overt curiosity bug going on right about now.

The only thing I don’t keep track of is the sugar/dairy. I can track these by the ingredients list of each produced item if I wanted to know that too (as well as other ingredients).

During the purging of my barn, I was actively making sugar/dairy and I am proud to finally be able to say I have almost 50 of each dairy/sugars. Today I’ve only produced foods in my machines that DON’T require any sugar/dairy so I can really stock up. As soon as I have 15 of each nondairy/sugar food items made, I will start making sugar/dairy foods again. I am hoping to have about a hundred sugar & dairy of each before I start using them up.

I already keep track of every diamond I spend. I’ve done that for a few months and this is how I know that I don’t miss-spend my diamonds often. I’ve tracked every diamond and in more than 3 months I’ve only accidently spent diamonds 6 times (usually advertising accidents). Pretty good average. I keep a small notebook the size of my phone and list diamond usage or where they come in from (ei: dirt in server). It’s also produced some amazing information regarding my personal gameplay.

Why I am doing this? Just curiosity. It’s been fun so far seeing how many of the different items I’m making on my farm. Does anyone else do this or am I alone in this…lol.

I use a spreadsheet app to keep track. Eliminate the pen and paper process. You can download a real good one for free on appstore. The one i uses is called Free Spreadsheet. Yes thats really the name lol.

So you do it too? Cool, any interesting results from your spread sheet? How long have you been doing it?

I do it for different purposes, been doing it ever since i been dead serious about this game lol (i just mean addicted:p)

i am kind of really obssessed with cost vs profit. So i have a spreadsheet up to analyse the items prices, etc. i have a good enough memory, so i actually am able to mentally keep track who buy what and how many from me most of the time.

And i also uses a stock take method to manage my items, so definitely need a spreadsheet for that to manage what i am going to produce, replenish and sell.

one thing that is troublesome, is that due to filling boat orders, the probability of what to make sometimes gets messed up and priority have to be shifted.

And oh gosh, i hope more people do the same thing and post sbout it if not we are two really frigging big nerds.

Amazing. And I thought I was the only one...lol. I just downloaded the software and will check it out. I'm sort of old school still and write a lot down. I am also a writer and write my books long hand, believe it or not. I do that to keep my self from becoming too verbose. It's easy to do when you type. I transfer it all later into my laptop but still find it to be the most efficient for me due to my "chatty Cathy" syndrome...lol.

I just produce what I can. Havent got enough of the good machines yet but im working on it :-)

i am a chemistry grad and currently doing graduate studies on nutrition and public health (alot of data collecting as well) so doing this kind of stuff, (keeping data) has been a habit. Actually, if i dont i will feel weird. I sort of do that for every game that i play lol.

Well, you may be "two really frigging big nerds", but you're also helpful, funny, and loveable. I'm glad to have you both as neighbors, quirks and all. You fit right in with this game. ;)
