Wouldn't having Valkyries in the Clan Castle work just as well?
Well thats just like saying a wizzard in the cc makes the wizzard tower obsolete, or the archer tower
Both towers have its perks. They can target both ground and air, and both have a decent range. The Valkyrie Tower, as you put it, has the radius of the Crusher, only melee troops could find that a threat and a big difference compared to the Crusher is that someone could have a lot more troops compared to the Builder Base and have spells to assist the troops, so any defense around that nature could be taken out fairly quickly with no problem.
At least with Valkyries in the Clan Castle, they run to opposing troops and attack them once they are in range rather than wait in one spot.
Valk tower will only make a difference of melee troops , like Hogs or Barch if they reach. Otherwise Wizards behind Golems and Giants will totally destroy the Valk Tower. Healing Spells will outheal any damage done by spin.
I think it would fit nicely as a defense, do to the fact that defense is underpowered compared to offense. It's massive damage output (like the crusher) will still weaken tanks enough for it to be a threat to be reckon with. It will be taken out easily (just like the crusher is) but still do the damage it was designed for.
