IS IT FAIR: Can't help with dairy/sugar farm sign

I keep seeing people writing on the farm sign "can't help with dairy or sugar" in newspaper, but when they ask help to fill the boat, they always asking for those same products and they usually on higher levels.

I don't get why they post the note, dairy factory and sugar mill can be purchased on lower levels, and supercell is quite generous with free diamonds as long as you are keen enough to search the newspaper for TNT, dynamites or shovel to blow the mine and get diamonds from it, from fishing rewards and completing the achievements lists, and so on, and use them to add the production lines in the dairy factory or sugar mill. Or you just simply keep producing dairy and sugar.

I think it's not fair and rude, because it's like you have money and nobody can ask you for it, but you keep asking somebody else's money.

If you can't help with those products, just pass the boat if you see one, but don't put the sign and ask for them later. People will see the sign, and people like me will just ignore that request of help for your boat. I will pass your boat even if I have plenty of dairy/sugar. I will keep them for my own production or until I find nicer farm who needs my help without the warning sign.

It's just a game, but it's nice for others if you play fair.

What i can tell is that every person is a person, i do ask for help on dairy/sugar, and there is two reasons, at least for me, that makes me do this with all the peace of mind i have.

1. because it's the help i need, even with 15% less time i can't produce 10 sugar/dairy * 4 to 6 for a boat in time
2. because i don't see that products as special, sure there is a high demand for then but we can produce then a lot, and are cheap, so i help, if i can, with that kind of orders

IF someone put's on the farm that don't help on that kind of help, i respect, and..."don't care" if i can i still help if i can't bad luck.

People that have that at least are honest, some don't help but don't "say it out load" so, just enjoy the game if you can/want help, but know that what you feel for friends/players that don't help also have other players thinking like you so less help for them and more for you;)

I tend to agree with you...I also don't understand those who openly refuse to fill others dairy/sugar but keep asking me to fill their dairy/sugar crates over and over and over. Luckily, I've only seen a very few who do that and can't answer you as to why.

To give the benefit of the doubt, perhaps they don't realize that they can cast a boat away unfilled...even some very high level players are still unaware that they can do this.

Just be aware that the vast majority of those people who won't fill dairy/sugar don't ask for it either. They don't fill dairy/sugar crates because they need those items to produce higher goods for their own boats, for sale, and for others crates. The sign is a way of saying to their neighbors "sorry, but I can't help so please don't keep asking".

For me, I don't ask for sugar/dairy if I can avoid it. I think I've asked for cream twice and syrup a couple of times when I was working on my Captains achievements. I fill all dairy/sugar crates my neighbors, followers, and even those I come across in the newspaper as long as I have the goods to do so...that's the choice I've made.

My fave are the farms named "Cast Off All Sugar & Dairy Boats!!!" that keep flagging what for help? 3 crates of dairy or sugar. {roll eyes at the absurdity} I laugh - and keep moving down the list of friends who need help.

I will flag dairy and sugar crates on my boats because as a general rule I flag 1 crate of each product asked for on the boat (even if I can fill it myself) so my friends and neighbors can pick up wheel points.

I also fill sugar/dairy crates for friends who do the same kind of flagging -- but not for friends who flag all 3 crates of 8-11 creams and keep the 3 crates of 1 blue hat or 3 crates of 1 carrot cake for themselves to fill.

I feel that flagging 1 crate of each item sends the message that I want to help you -- and flagging the 3 hardest crates sends the message that I want to benefit from your stock.

But that's MY feeling about it, which is usually drawn from NO EVIDENCE. Unless they say why in their farm name, who really knows anyone's motivations for flagging crates?

Maybe their dairy queue is full of goat cheese that their child made.

Maybe they only have 2 slots open on their dairy and they are at work, so can't keep checking it.

Maybe they don't know you can cast off difficult boats.

Maybe they tried to cast it off and hit the wrong button and are stuck with the boat now.

It is a game. I always try to draw my impressions of others in the light most favorable to THEM -- Most people who play this game are kind helpful folks.

Yes, I try to fill the boat by myself. After all, they give us 4 hours head start to produce more or search the newspaper if you think you don't have enough in your barn and cast off the boat if the BO is too hard and I don't want to burden my neighbors/followers/visitors.

I never thought of this. Good idea. I sometimes ask dairy/sugar because I think some people wants the reward (wheel/coins/xp), and of course I need their help, but not for over 5 dairy/sugar per crate.

I almost always ask for help on one crate of each product. I save the last crate for next boat order or someone else boat order.

My last 2 boat orders ask for syrup. The first one I was able to fill 3 of 4 crates because I produced overnight. Nothing special. When the second boat asks for syrup, I was about to cast it off but the other products are so easy (chocolate ice cream (I have 9) and bacon&eggs), I have to take that chance for wheel points and voucher ;) That's why I flagged 3 crates of syrup asking for 3 each (4 crates in total). My reason is simple:
- I can fill 1 crate 1 hour after the boat comes (too addictive I cannot leave the game more than 1 hour if I'm not asleep :P). 1 wheel point less out of 34 is worth trying.
- I trust my neighbor and potential helper in the world ( I advertise) to fill those 3 crates (1 helper for each crate is ok for me). I have helped many players with cakes, bread, popcorn, soup, jam, various products so there must be someone among my neighbors who want to pay me back (not that I think they must help me but I know there should be someone willing to).
- if no one fill, no big deal neither because my sugar mill is already queue up with syrup. By the time the boat leaves, I will be able to fill all syrup crates by myself.

Great thanks to my wonderful neighbors :). Now I run out of syrup again, the next boat won't have my syrup :mad:.

Sugar is special. Playing as often as I am, I can make more useful stuff and earn more wheel points/experiences by producing cakes than filling sugar crate. That's the main reason I cast boat off.


I have a friend in my friend list who flags for dairy and sugar. She knows how to cast boat off. She doesn't play much, I guess it's better for her to complete at least a boat order a day than no boat order at all. Of course she has difficulties with sugar/dairy crates but can always be able to fill it before the boat leaves. Since she struggles with her own order, she can't not fill anyone else's crates asking for the same thing. In her case, flagging for help represents a hope to finish the boat sooner.

Isn't it impressive how differently one and the same game can be played?

For me, sugar is not just any product, I constantly wait for it being ready. If I manage over night and have 8 whites (I only have 8 slots, the next one needs me to save 24 gold), that isnt enough to even start half of the production, maybe some ice cream and cake and then the waiting starts again. I never ever have a single pack of sugar to spare!

And it is getting seriously on my nerves that always, 24/7, at least 20 or 30 friends ask for 3 crates each... At some point this may be 50 x 3 crates. Asking 8 sugar as average, that's 1200 sugar requests. I wished they would just cast them off as I do... But flagging and then asking themselves, that is silly, lol.

I just learned about a week ago that I can cast off boats if I choose, and I've recently cast off 3 boats for sugar/dairy products and still find myself relatively low on these products as I try to work on creating items with those ingredients for the boats I keep/fill. I'm also not filling anyone else's crates with sugar/dairy products as I'm hoping to get a decent supply myself, first.

As for filling crates, I've always tried to fill all crates myself and about 2-3 hours before the boat is due to leave, if I can see that I won't be able to complete a crate, I will flag it. Thus, I may end up flagging all 3 crates of the same item, not because they are the harder ones to fill for anyone, but because I wasn't able to accomplish the task on my own, even though I try to prepare for the arrival of the boat during that 4-hour wait. On the boat before my current one, once it arrived, I was actually able to fill all crates but one! That was a first!! :D

My favorite is when I see a boat asking for 11 creams or 11 sugars and they aren't even running the dairy or sugar mill. I do they same as perky. I flag 1 crate for each product except sugar/cream/cheese boats. If I don't have enough stock to fill them by myself I can't expect anyone else to do it for me. For jam, I will sometimes flag 1 crate but either make sure to have the required amount in stock in case it doesn't get filled in 15 min or so...or sometimes I even put it for sale in my store so that the helper can replenish their stock after they fill the crate to get the points. I guess it boils down to my view that I open crates to help YOU, not me.

I've filled neighbors' crates with all of my items, i.e., if the crate needs 3 cookies and I have only 3 cookies, I will still fill the crate. This could be a very good reason why I'm low on many of my own products...LOL! Does anyone else do that?
