Elder Kick cool down period - A disaster in the making. Here is the solution.

I'm not really sure why a cool down period had to be implemented for Elders in a clan, simply because if you have been made an elder then clearly you are respected within the clan and can be assumed to be of good nature and not abusing the position. Of course this does mean that some people will abuse it by auto promoting other friends etc who join rapidly and try to take over a clan etc where the leader is away or inactive.


The kick cool down period is not the way to go or at least it isn't implemented in the best way. 30 mins is way too long, it really shouldn't be more than 5/10 minutes. However before this cool down feature was introduced, everything was relatively peaceful, but the fact that elders are on cool down means that regular players are abusing the system.


Today I experienced this first hand. 2 brothers joined our clan, and while initially acting nice, the conversation turned south and they started swearing. So one elder kicked one out and another kicked the other out, they both rejoined within a few seconds and started swearing and acting very immature. Again a few more elders kicked them and again they rejoined and started behaving badly. By now 8 elders had kicked them and unfortunately no other elders were active so we didn't have any elders left to kick them out because we were all on cool down. So here we had to listen to their abuse until they left of their own accord.


We have some young members in our clan and don't want to subject them to any of this kind of abuse. Why have Supercell limited what little power elders in a clan have?


My solution, If Elders have to have a cool down period then SO SHOULD THE PEOPLE WE KICK. If someone is kicked from a clan then they cannot rejoin that clan for 30 minutes. Fair is fair.

Set it to invite only. I don't think there's a cooldown on rejects.

No all elders are earned. This stopped countless clans from being destroyed.

like others have said, just set it to invite only.

While setting it to invite is a temporary solution, it isn't a permanent one and thats what we need. A system where no matter what state the clan is in, nobody can abuse it. We find that keeping it open sometimes helps boost numbers but we also keep it on invite too. Our leader isn't always around and we need a way that fixes the problem no matter what state the clan doors are set at.


At the end of the day I think its fair that anyone kicked cannot return back to that same clan for 30 mins. Either that or get rid of the cool down period for Elders. Either solution works for me.

Yes, I completely agree. Either that or add a co-leader option so more people can keep 'new' elders in check

I think the cooldown should still be there but reduced to around 5-10 minutes.

I actully prefer a cooldown for people who have been kicked i think that is a great solution. You should put this on the sub forum ideas

best solution is rejoin cooldown for kicked members.

easy to implement and clans are still protected from being ruined by rogue elders

This helps better than it doesn't.

I lead a clan. If i am going to be away for a while, i promote one of the elders to leader. This solves any cooldown problems we have. I also dont put it on anyone can join unless i am going to be there to boot any idiots.

Well i'm glad to see others agreeing with this idea.


For those of you who keep saying "SET IT TO INVITE ONLY" I've already pointed out that INVITE ONLY is not a permanent solution to the problem. We like to mix it up by keeping it open as well as invite. We need ONE permanent solution to fix the problem, not a temporary solution.


As to the idea of switching leadership to another member - it's not like our leader has gone on vacation for 6 months. I'm talking about people having a life outside of the game - family, work etc. We cant expect and shouldn't expect leaders to be assigned every single time someone leaves for a few hours. Sometimes real life things just pop up suddenly - then what? And also what happens when you assign someone else leadership and they are also away? Besides, it doesn't matter how often the leader is active as troublemakers only need a few minutes to cause chaos.


Best solution is still a cool down period for kicked members. Either 30 mins or even 1 hour.

Invite only might protect idiot clans who actually think a good clan can be destroyed. If a good clan gets the boot then the ones that matter come back. Supercell you had chance get this fixed. Either give leader option or use one of the other many good ideas people have suggested. You can make both camps happy. Do it or keep your Halloween update!
