Hey Blobertson, I think I created my layout 26 days ago, and I hadn't seen that core in a design before. It is quite uncanny how similar our designs are. I see your mortars are very far apart and I am unsure how well protected they are. I'd like to see how it fares in testing. The funnel vs pocket argument is up for discussion, I'm not sure which is more effective.

I used to like funnels but I am more convinced that walls are better off protecting something than redirecting giants to a spring trap (funneling).

Great design, Richard. Love the Splash v. PD's at higher levels analysis. Teslas have always been my favorite defensive structure ever since TH7. Would love to try this design out if I have time!

One quick question about the funnels though. Do they work against WBs/troops deployed in front of the perimeter AT's? Seem a bit long for troops to loop around.

They don't, that's why I made a revision of my own and closed the funnels. I just can't see it working against smart raiders and the CoC playerbase has been evolving to not fall for funneling and labyrinthing.

After a few weeks of testing, I concur. The funnels are slightly too long. No real benefit, especially at higher levels.

Thanks for the thread Richard! I got bored with my old base and I loved the core of this base. I took your core and tried to put my own spin on the rest, shortening the funnels and moving a few things around. It has worked great so far! Thanks for a well thought out design and presentation!

I agree RR, the funnelling certainly needs some work, perhaps enclosed sections are the way forward. The exposed T-Junction and X-Junctions are what I was trying to avoid, just for peace of mind, haha. What ever works best I suppose. :P

Thanks Ping :) The funnels need work, wbs can breach them quite easily, I'm trying to come up with a fix. At the moment they're hit and miss. I really need to get back to testing it, I'm currently using my LD farming version for a again just because I missed it :P

Thanks Gubert, haha, I might be going to TH10 soon, it depends how long I can grind lvl 9 walls. No more buildings left to upgrade.

I totally agree with you guys, the funnels were a long shot, coming up with a fix that doesn't run into any junction problems is gonna be tough.

Glad you added your own mods to it, looks like one of the thousand versions I tried to solve the funnelling problem, haha :)
