I would recommend not paying attention to an update for a free iApp until it appears in the updates section in the app store. Problem solved for all. It's your own fault, not anybody elses

Wow, some people are getting a bit crazy.

Remember we get village construction mode, that will make our gaming experience better.

Sure the rest is a bit meh to us already playing on iPhone. But as long as there is at least one decent functionality added to the game each update which helps us I'm happy.

The many negative posts are because most here are apple fanboys. Its a simple fact.

I think the point you are missing is that it is very easy for IOS users to simply yawn at the thought of this. It is disappointment that many people are expressing here, not some Apple fanboy-ism. Yes, there are some silly posts about how IOS is perfection and Android is terrible, but most of the negative sentiment is not an IOS vs Android phenomenon.

I for one am really excited for clash of clan on android. Fairly expecting it would be announced on this meet up since they are replying nor moving thread about android on forum like they did before. Thanks a lot Supercell. I really hate carrying around two devices all the time. Now, I can sell my iphone 4s without any regrets :D .

first, the android population will be starting at th1, meaning they are at least a year and a half behind in progression. They will never be competitive. Supercell will have to offer huge incentives to let them catch up, which will trivialize all the ios users hard work

secondly, google runs on 1000's of different platforms, running millions of different hardware combination, from very slow, to very fast, at every resolution in between. Coding the game for this will require balancing tricks at the cost of the polish on the game. Think "website designed to run on all computers" as opposed to apple.com mobile version designed to run on ios. Everything is perfectly scaled, sized and at the right resolution. I could see that being a problem on android.

third, the very real idea that they realize their game is dying, and rather than start a new game from scratch to coexist on both platforms, they are trying to stretch out he life cycle of this game by attracting brand new players where the game will be new to them. Innovate or die. ZOMG lets port it to google isn't innovation, its desperation

Supercell, you are our employee, not the other way around. I think you have gotten to that sad point, where you think every idea will cause us to be super happy. We sign your pay check and given you lots of $$$$ every day.

Dont kid yourself....supercell isn't going to the trouble of recoding the entire game for android to make it easier access for current customers...they want a mass influx of new players that they hope,will feel hopelessly behind and try to catch up with gems.

EDIT: id bet money that gem purchases are way down due to diminishing returns. At th6 20 dollars gives you a lot of bonus...maybe enough loot to upgrade 5 items and instantly finish them. Most players now realize that due to upgrade inflation, 20 dollars wont even allow for one instant upgrade on one item...it is NOT WORTH IT to buy gems anymore, and they KNOW IT. Game over...unless android users bite

I don't understand why some people dislike Android so much. Point of the matter is, most Android devices have features that are just a twinkle in Apple's eye. Also, I can guarantee you that not all Android players will be starting at TH1...;)...and besides, what about new players that use iOS? Don't they start at TH1?
Get a grip on reality and accept the fact that Android devices far out number iOS devices and SC is just (rightly so) tapping into that market share. Any company that purposely ignores this fact has it's head buried in the sand. Also, let's drop this constant drone about how greedy SC is. Any company that sits on it's hands and stays stagnant is doomed to failure.
Now lets just be happy we have a game we all enjoy playing and is enthusiastically supported by a company that cares enough to listen to it's customer base.:D

I'm sure you started on that. But hey! Loot seems nice and SC could finally work on Clan Wars since they are now having a bit more(i mean A LOT MORE) income from Android players. With all those extra money, they can now experiment with Clan Wars, the most requested idea ever.

Just got back and heard the news about Android. While I don't own one, many friends do so I'm excited to get them playing :) So many whiny people on these forums, geez everyone, just be happy SC releases monthly updates where we are getting really cool things each update!

Don't get me wrong. I am happy for Android users and happy that we will have more victims of our raids. But did this really require a meetup for all the IOS fans and users to tell them, that there is an Android version coming? :-P

Completely agree! I think everyone is happy with the update but a little upset about all the hype that ended with news that doesn't directly affect them. I admit I'm a bit bummed cause I got caught in the hype and was expecting something else, but yeah I love that supercell updates every month and appreciate what the mods and supercell does for the community. My lesson is... Don't get caught up in the hype! Haha

Regarding your 1st point, who are you competing with currently? I've been playing more than a year, almost maxed out TH9 (I have lvl 10 walls left), and I am still in the 1800 trophy range...care to tell me who I am competing with? I have a friend, started 3 months ago, paid a few thousand for gems, he's TH10 now (everything maxed except heroes and lvl 11 walls), 3000 trophies.... point is, does when you start really matter?

Third point, stretching out a game's life cycle is more business sense than desperation.

Twister has already answered those in the Android discussion thread, but yes were all playing on the same servers so yes and yes to being able to transfer accounts.

Yes and yes

Almost every app out there has a version of itself on both platforms - iOS and Android (and more) so its definitely a logical and obvious move by Supercell.

BUT...

Why is it being considered as a Sneak Peek for current iOS users? Also, the wall organizer thing seems to be a part of the previous sneaky reveal (Village Edit Mode) if I'm not wrong.

And this is the very reason why I'm having mixed feelings about introducing COC to android. All those comparisons of android having a larger market being the "superior" smart phone. Then months later when a top player is an android user, another apple and android war joins in maybe like "Apple lost in the smart phone market and now even in COC". Trust me on this. And I know some people here is gonna tell me they are android users playing on iPad and stuff. I'm not generalizing, just stating my opinion. Both are good.

I totally agree with you. Why so much hype about such a tiny update. I know it would have taken a long time to program the town editor but that is just a enhancement on the game interface, not a major addition to the game. A major addition would have been another resource or new heroes or actual Clash of Clans.

Am I being to harsh?😀

This update is MASSIVE in terms of design time required and I dont intend to underestimate or downplay the effort taken to bring us these features.

But IF all we are seeing is a base editor and an android implementation, then clashers wont experience a great deal of difference between their game today and their game after the update...so actually, its quite a mediocre update from the player's point of view.

It will be lots more players which ok means more money for sc but so what. Was planning to get an Iphone just so I can play CoC. Now I may get a samsung instead...

Will your game be more enjoyable after this update if indeed the main additions are a base editor and android compatibility? I'd suggest not.

There will be more players, yes, but that COULD mean more searching to find bases worth attacking - and it will take some time for these new players to join and develop their bases etc etc...

Its a great implementation, but I'm sure i'm not the only one who wanting something that was going to have an immediate and potentially fundamental change to game-play.
