The problem is you put something with low demand into the daily dirt to advertise that your farm needs help, then someone buys the advertised item.
How about putting - say - an item like a flag with an explanation mark into the paper at cost 1. Fix the item so no one can buy it. The item vanishes from the shop when no help requirement remains ... Maybe it goes back into the barn for re-use.
This would be in addition to the flags on buyable stuff
But the ad stays for 3 minutes or so, even if it IS bought and after that you will be able to sell another item. I can't say that for sure but there seems to be buyers even after the item I advertise is bought and long gone. The newspaper is a continual mystery.
Try selling a common item or crop with low demand at the maximum price (I use Lavender). It usually works for me.
Of course, if asking for rare and difficult Boat items, you may need to offer up something equally hard-to-come-by.
edit. I should add, no one wants DD to become nothing but ads for help. We all want to see something useful offered for sale.
Placing an ad in the paper usually works. Unless you are hoping for people to fill a difficult boat crate or something. Then you may have to readvertise multiple times.
When Im shopping, I'm shopping. I don't pay any attention to help flags.
When im looking for help flags Im not shopping.
