Cross Bows -- identifying empty...

Any tips on identifying empty Cross Bows? This would be useful to know before attacking a TH 9...

I've noticed sometimes they are tipped slightly to one side... mean anything? Someone in my clan suggested when they're empty, there is no glass cannister on them?

Any thoughts... Thanks.

I read this before, thx... Though it clarifies that "pointing down" means its set for ground only, it still doesn't describe how exactly you know the X-Bow is empty for sure. That's really my question...

They have pictures! Loaded and empty, and you could just look and see if you see purple in the xbow

The X-Bow has no weakness unless it is set to ground-only mode, determinable by the way it is facing. If it is facing up, then it can attack air units as well. Treat the X-Bow like a longer-ranged Cannon or Archer Tower, but don't forget that many units are not a problem for this tower.
When attacking you can look to see if the X-Bow is loaded or not. Currently there is no way to tell how many bullets it has left but you can visually tell when it is empty. An X-bow that is empty is completely useless and will not fire.

The "you can visually tell when empty" wasn't helpful to me, sorry, as it lack any description or specificity. Maybe if you have an x-bow, this is an obvious conclusion to assume... but I'm TH 8.

What are you talking about? It says that and it has pictures of both an empty and loaded crossbow along with labels that indicate which is which.

I even copied the picture from the wikia to this thread!

No purple thingy haha or a string.
