Getting sick of strangers buying my items when exchanging items

I lost a lot of barn and silo items when exchanging with other friends.

Normally what i do when exchanging: put 1 wheat at the bottom slot and wait for the other to buy it, then i will put the exchange item into the slot without advertising it. However lots of time i ended up seeing some freaking guys buy my stuffs, not the one who i am trading with. I just don't know how they could do that? they visit my farm by accident and perfect timing when i am trading with others, or they have other tricks? or the one that i am trading with has a trick?

Up to now lost 5 times with the total items including 5 planks, 10 bolts, 20 syrups, 8 nails, 10 creams, 20 white sugar...

Totally fed up with this game... Anyone suggest a way to trade successfully without being interupted by those freaks?

You are doing something wrong bro, I've never had this problem at all.. I've traded lots of times! On this farm and my other farm thats even higher lvl.

Didnt you say it happend 5 times? Yet all the items you listet counts at least 8 times. :P? Confused.

Anyway, make sure nothing is in the news paper when you are going to trade and you should be fine..

Just make sure you don't have any active DD ads. I'm confused about your losses too.:confused:

This happens to me yesterday. I was trading with a neighbor and she has some other stuff up for sale. Anyhow, I think the person who 'stole' our trade just happen to be there at the right time. Their finger is faster than mine even though I was ready and watching the last spot like a hawk. I was flabbergasted! First time it happens to me. I lost that part of the trade in nano second.

You have to realize that the vast majority of players have never been on the forums at all. You've probably got some little kid follower out there who thinks you are totally awesome because you always sell such great stuff! :D

Thanks bro, I am sure that i have nothing advertised or active on newspaper because all of my slots are empty for more than 30 minutes before i trade, thus nothing should be active on newspaper.

Just get a bit frustrated with all the freaks that always try to be in the middle.

Anyhow, i lost 8 items in 5 times because one time, i put 20 syrups and 10 creams in 3 slots for a faster trading, and it was gone forever :D

Also make sure your one wheat is NOT advertised either.
It is not clear in your OP whether you untick the box of the wheat and the trade item.
There is nothing like advertising to everyone that a trade is imminent!!

Sure Marcus, i am well aware that i always untick the advertising button before trading... if that's the case, then it wouldn't take me so hard to understand how others can interupt my trading.

If the person you are trading with is not one of your FB friends, disconnect from FB may prevent most of them to access your farm.
If you have lots of friend in the same time zone as yourself, chances are they are playing at the same time as you.

From my own experience,

the DD ads say advertise for 3 hrs. Im assuming, sometimes with phantom ads, even if your item is gone, you are still being circulated for 3 hours. Thats what i think.because i rarely advertise unless i accidentally forget to uncheck. Yet, some days where i have not advertised for days, i get random ppl buying my things. And because i sell almost exclusively premium items and only o friends, i notice real quick what happens.

Dont keep any followers unless they know what you are doing and or have some form of communication.

Another lesson i learned, when browsing DD, dont out of the kindness of your heart help random strangers boat and trees/bushes. I have had that coming back to bite me in a bad way because i was in their last helper list.

So there, besides that i cant really think of anything else that might cause you to get ninja'ed.

It is probably someone you've helped, putting you in their "Last Helpers" list. I now fill boats and fix trees for friends and followers, but not out of the DD, to cut down on that. We also continuously tap the spot we know the trade item is coming up in, increasing our chances of getting it as soon as it appears. So far, out of hundreds of trades, I've lost exactly one, but I'm sure my follower was thrilled to get 5 carrot cakes for one coin. Lol

Yes it might be that. Back when I started playing I found a farm that always had great stuff really cheap. The odd thing was they hid it all the way at the end if their stall. I had no idea it was for trading! I hadn't visited the forum and wasn't aware that players traded. You might try and put something in your farm name like " last stall trades only " or along those lines. Good luck.

Sorry your trade has been sniped -- I too have lost one.

My advice mirrors a lot of what you have heard. I am using ALL CAPS, bold, and underlines below not to shout but to highlight the big points in a looooooong post for quick reading :)

Change name of farm (not effective but makes me feel better -- most buyers are surfing in, and will never see your farm name just your shop name)

Use the LAST SLOT ONLY for trades -- it is tempting but dangerous to place multiple 10s of items in the last 2-3 clots. Increased the chances of sniping. So slow down and be disciplined -- some trades take time.

REMEMBER that even though your advertised item got bought, you will still be in the paper for 5-10 more minutes, or however long it takes for the paper to refresh completely.

If you DO get sniped, remember that the vast majority of Hay Day players ARE NOT on the forum, and have no idea about trades or the culture here. They are INNOCENT PURCHASERS.

Nevertheless, if it happened the first thing I'd do is take a screenshot of the stall showing the avatar.

Next I would check your GC to see if they are your friend, or in the last helpers tab. If they are friends, unfriend them, then send them a new friend request in Game Center with the note "u accidentally bought [goods] for trade 2 another. Please trade back, OK? :)"

Then see if they accept that FR. If they do, you can change your farm name to "[buyer], come to SC forum" and hopefully they will meet you here to arrange a trade back. Cumbersome, but has worked in the past. :)

Same thing for recent helpers - change farm name to "[buyer] come to forum and PM me pls" and hope they do.

If this person was a drive-by, you can post your screenshot in the trading forum asking if anyone is friends with this player and can they help you get the goods back.

--->IMPORTANT <--- NAME AND SHAME IS NOT ALLOWED in the forum, so make sure your posts on this matter are calm and gentle, asking if anyone knows this player who inadvertently interrupted a trade, and could they help contact this player to correct the mistake. Please be kind and understanding at all times. Most snipers are true innocents. Serial bad-faith snipers are very few and far between in this cooperative game. :)

If that person IS on the forum, you can send them a polite and gentle PM "Hey [name], could you please contact me because you bought [goods] that were intended to be part of a trade. Please PM/Post me and let's arrange a time to for me to get them back. I will buy back at max for your trouble. Thanks."

If they say they have already used them in an upgrade, work out another deal that is fair. Most Hay Dayers on the forum are cooperative and nice people, but people do make mistakes. By choosing to be generous and forgiving, everything will go much more smoothly. Who knows -- maybe you will wind up with an extra helpful neighbor out of this mess!! :)

If none of this works, what I do is I make myself something yummy in the coffee kiosk, have a nice lobster lunch with an ice cream cone, and then chill out with the horses, or watch my frogs. :) It is a game, and games have their ups and downs -- maybe it also helps to know that you are not alone . . .

Trading is not a function designed into the game nor supported by HayDay. It was created by folks on this forum. Therefore, trading isn't mentioned anywhere except on this forum. It's estimated that less than 1% of HD players visit this forum and only a portion of that 1% ever go beyond the "Add Me" thread.

I can pretty much guarantee that the people taking the goods intended for trade have absolutely no idea that they are reserved for someone in particular. If you look at the first page of the trading threads, where the guidelines (not rules..you can't have rules for something unofficial) are written, you will see the disclaimers that this type of trading is not part of the game and is, therefore, at the traders risk.

As frustrating as this is (it's happened to me, too) you can't blame someone for going against unofficial, publicly unannounced, and practically invisible "rules" that they have no idea even exist. Additionally, those who do know about "insider trading" and it's guidelines are under no obligation to follow them...they have every right to purchase your reserved goods as, according to the design of the game, if it's in the shop it is for public sale, advertised or not.

Now that you and others visiting this thread are informed of how things really are and that trading is an insider thing for some of those who spend time on the forum, hopefully, it will ease frustrations and misguided anger that we see way too much of in relation to insider trading.

One action you can take sometimes is, if the person who took the trade is on the members list of this forum, send them a PM explaining the situation and asking for the items return. If they are active members who know about and visit their inbox, they may reply and the situation can be discussed and, hopefully, settled.

EDIT: ah, I see several giving you the same information while I was typing and with a lot of additional, useful suggestions. :)

Never had a problem with that before. Now I have had someone do me wrong once in a trade when I first started playing. But I got smart! I trade with my goddaughter every evening and others at all times. I'm sorry you are having problems.

Remember that if you are on the boat leaderboard you can be found via that means as well. You may not be way up on the top, but the people at your level can still see you and access your farm and your stall.

I do not trade, but what I do sometimes when I have someone coming in and raiding my store continuously is to reap some trees or bushes and set the help sign over them, put them close to my stall and then put some goodies in the stall. The "raider" usually waters my trees or bushes and now I have access to their farms and stalls and can raid right back. lol. Sometimes they also have goodies in and sometimes their stalls are empty. But at least i "know" who it is.
