Lobsters

I noticed that on the Facebook page lots of people are complaining about the boooooring length of time it takes to get a lobster to the soup pot and then more time to make soup. I really have loved the game until now, and eagerly awaited this update. However, the time involved in the whole lobster process is just too long. I play the game daily, some times several times daily and have most of the mysteries at level 51 ( I add this info to point out I am not a novice to the game). The lobsters do not add any excitement nor interest for me, no "positive tension" increasing the desire to make new products, fill orders, compete. Any one else bored with the lobster waiting? I have/do spend enough on the game that I would like the developers to consider the input both here and on Facebook.

I agree! When the whole lobster thing hit I was halfway to level 44! So not only did I have to wait a year and a day for repair, now I have to wait for the tub to finish. 15 more hours! how long does it take to make the trap?? I'm not sure I will do the lobster thing but I like getting 3 to 4 fish at a time!

The principle is the same for every machine.

Upgrade the lobster pool to max.
Expand the net maker queue so you can make traps continually while away.
Set traps during your down time.
Cook lobsters and set more traps or fish in between. Find your nichè.

As we progress in the game things are going to increase in time. Get ready.

The developers might continue to increase the times, but I am not sure that I have the patience to continue- it is just not that interesting with the lag times. It is a game after, with "fun" implied, not something one has to endure.

I understand that.

At some point, we're all going to stop playing for some reason or another.

One reason I posted here is that one of the Hay Day people posted on Facebook that they would relate the concerns to the developers from the Facebook postings. They implied in the post that they paid more attention to the forums- at least that was my interpretation. Lots of the posts here on forums are all positive- is it possible the developers have a skewed view of the players concerns? I wanted to point out the problems with the new update here.

I don't have a problem with the times required for the creation of lobster soup. It isn't something that you can need and THEN start the preparation for and get it created in a timely fashion BUT you can make it ahead of time and have it ready. We can't have immediate satisfaction on everything or the game would be too easy. With that being said, chances are if you do not have Tom hired, you won't be able to fill a lobster soup boat order without help from friends.

Supercell probably reviews a lot of different kinds of customer feedback. Its not all positive. There is a whole sub-forum for people to post complaints and bugs.

Totally agree that the whole lobster thing takes far too long. I have a boat waiting for 6 lobster soup which will take me about 15 years to make! I have the help flags out but who in their right minds would give away such a precious item , i know I wouldn't. The whole fishing thing now takes far too long, i have lots of bait and nets but the river is clogged up with nets and pots that take ages. In fact I have now got the hump with the whole fishing thing.🐻😒🍤🐟🐠🐡🍤🎣

I'm curious as to why you opened the crates in the first place. You admitted you wouldn't help someone else with the same items but you flagged your own.

It has now been 6 days since the update. In that time, I have had to cast off 4 of 16 boats due to not having enough lobster on hand to make the products the boats asked for (and knowing that no one else would be able to contribute to filling the crates). This morning, I thought I finally had enough lobster on hand to make 4 seafood pizzas, and what does the boat call for? 8 seafood pizzas! Another cast-off. Bummer.

It took me 6 days to buy the new machines and fully upgrade the lobster tank without using diamonds. This morning's boat was the first one where I had any lobster on hand at all in the last 6 days, and then it turned out that I only had half as much as I needed.

What am I supposed to do? Keep 8 seafood pizzas and 8 lobster soups on hand in the barn at all times, and never help anyone else with their boat orders for lobster? It is almost the same situation as production of lollipops. As you may recall, about 2 or 3 months ago, SC changed the software to not generate boat orders for candy or jewelry due to the production time issues. I think they have generated another version of the same problem with the lobsters.

The two deep water fishing spots have a four hours down time after fishing with lure anyway. After catching lobsters, there is no down time. I suggest to place lobster traps in these two spots only - and catching yields in zero loss of time.

As for the pool, I have upgraded once so I can place two lobsters at the same time. As I only put traps in two spots, that is absolutely sufficient for me. The waiting time somehow compares with waiting for wool or bacon, with the only difference that the turn out from sheep and pig is much higher (and cheaper to achieve).

The trap making time n the net maker can be used to produce two traps while catching one in a deep fishing spot: one has to be ahead with prodction otherwise the balance doesnt work out. If one has the gems to do so it looks advisable to extent production queue and produce the necessary ratio while offline.

The nets appear to be useful only if you have long offline periods like weekend away or so. You can at least make 3 fish when before you made none and blocked all the fishing area after return. I have also caught 1 fish and two lobsters with one net, was pretty helpful.

Still experiencing with mystery nets but I reckon that is more fun for people with lots of gems :D

As for crazy orders from boats: simply cast them off. It's just algorithms at the end, they are not supposed to always make sense :)

same here and as I also cast sugar and dairy off, I have had several days without boats. Pretty difficult now to collect enough boat leadership points to claim the 50 gems one day...

Have you seen the thread about the mystery nets? That certainly wasn't positive, and SC responded to that in double quick time, to give them their due. I think whether you like this new update depends very much on your playing style. If you are pretty laid-back and see it as a bit of fun, it's fine. If you are a more aggressive achiever then it's probably not so good. I have a theory that the girls like it more than the boys because the lobsters are cute.

For me it's not been too problematic filling boats. First I bought the soup kitchen which was daft because that was ready before anything else and I had nothing to put in it. I waited about a day before doing the net maker and the lobster pool because I was being a bit of a 'Scrooge', and didn't spend diamonds for speeding up anything. I did, however, hire Tom.
I sent him for lobster tails and I sent him for lobster soup. Made pizza with the lobster tails, and a few more soup and managed to fill all my boat orders during the double voucher event. I did actually get help once from a lovely friend, but I only had the cheek to flag one crate of one lobster soup! So I've filled every order so far to date for 15 diamonds for Tom.

Like everyone else I was disappointed with the mystery net, but the ordinary nets are great for me, I have problems using my right hand so fishing has always been a chore. I shall never catch the difficult fish but at least I can get some fish fillets now.

The lobsters and soup kitchen are no different than reaching the level for any other machine or product...the split second your are eligible, your boats and truck will start asking for the stuff. The only difference is that it affected so many people at the same exact time.

Personally, I feel folks placing crates up for help on soups/pizzas the very first day was a serious lapse on their part. Simple common sense dictates that absolutely NO ONE is going to be able to help for a while, yet so many asked within minutes for crate help. Even the rare person who may have used diamonds to speed construction of the net maker, pool, and soup kitchen, as well as sped up making the traps, catching the lobsters, and cooking the products would NOT have given the final products away to someone else right off the bat. So many folks just assuming withing 15 minutes of the update being unveiled that someone's is going to fill those crates was mind boggling.

As for the length of time it takes to make the new products, well, I see nothing wrong with it. Sure, it takes longer than any other product, but it was meant to so as to add another level of challenge to the game. Folks were complaining of being bored and having no goals left. Well, here you go. Sure, it's hard but that's what's good about it...it IS a challenge. And not an impossible one either.

I did everything the long way (no diamonds) yet I have my net maker and a good supply of traps, my pool is on it's third upgrade with lobsters in it that will also be ready when this upgrade is finished, traps in the water yet with enough fishing spots open for lures/nets if needed to supplement my stock of fish, some lobster tails waiting in my barn, soup kitchen cooking away, a stock of tomato and lobster soups in my barn, I've filled 3 boat orders, and helped 2 neighbors. Did I do anything special? No, I just trudged along methodically and consistently and didn't stress, which causes me to make mistakes and take longer to accomplish things.

I did nothing out of the ordinary. Perhaps I just got lucky, but I know others are equally in as good shape as I have seen both soups for sale since yesterday as well as seeing someone fill a couple of neighbors crate requests for lobster soup and pizza (which is the only thing I've not started yet). I've a bit of a ways to go before I'm eligible for fish soup but I'll be ready for it when the time comes.

Good luck to all. Once the dust settles, these products will fall into place same as the fishing area did when it was first introduced with it's additional products. It, too, caused an initial flurry of complaints that you hardly ever see now.

I also have seen 3/4 crates per boat flagged for lobster soup -- I help with boats (even popcorn and bread boats!!) but I cannot make enough lobster soup to satisfy my farm needs AND drop in crates. I am sure the same is true of other dedicated helpers.

I don't do sugar and dairy crates very often either - and jam only if I have more than 5 after I fill someone's crate. It has happened too many times that I give away all my jam to others and my next boat needs -- THAT EXACT FLAVOR OF JAM. :( :( Grrrrr!!!

I was able to fill all the other crates quickly so flagged the soup in the hope that someone would be kinder than me! I do help others wherever I can but some things are just too precious. 🐻🌞🇪🇸

It's this way no matter what the product. No matter how much we pump out, there is only so much to go around and cover ourselves as well. As for the next boat asking for what you JUST gave away...may I join your club? LOL

I've had to cast off a few boats since the update because I made the mistake of filling some crates before checking the dock menu of the incoming boat, only to then discover that boat wanted exactly what I just gave away. Then I can't find any in the paper and don't have the time to replace the missing stock.

Drat and double drat!! I'm so sidetracked with all the new stuff.

The only thing that upsets me about the lobsters is we don't get XP points when we catch one or when they are done cooking. Well I don't anyway and my daughter isn't at the level to get lobsters.

My thoughts are this is just a game people shouldn't get so worked up over it.

So, I'm level 45 and have made/cooked several lobster tails. They are not in my barn. Where are they? Will they magically appear when I get my soup maker up and running?

What level can you purchase the soup maker? And how much us it?

You've cooked them in the new lobster pot? Did you use the provided scoop to take them out of the pot? When you do, the tails fly into your barn (like fish filets) and the lobsters return to the lake. Did you see this animation happen? If not, check your barn again, they look just like real lobster tails not like the fish filets. If you still don't see them, I suggest putting forth an in-game issue ticket.

Does anyone know if you can catch more than 1 lobster per net or is that the maximum?

I have only ever caught 1 per net - would be good if you could catch more!!!

Imo you have waisted to much time by upgrading that pool to 6 in the early days. (What time was it for that last update? 20 hours?)
What is the point, if you can make only 12 lobstertraps within 24 hours? If you can play more than 2 times a day, than you can 3 times a day harvest 4 lobsters, pick up 4 catched lobsters to fill the pool again, and put 4 new traps in the river. (Or 4 times x 3). You than have your maximum of 12 lobsters a day.

So I doesn't agree this advise:

Upgrade the lobster pool to max" With a maximum of 12 lobsters (traps) a day, a pool that can contain 3 or 4 seemes enough to me.

I had to cast off the first boats asking for lobsterstuff, but now I have filled one asking for fishpizza (8) and one asking for lobstersoup without a problem. If I can manage to build up a reasonable stock of lobsters/lobsterproducts (and I suppose I can, unless I get lobsterboats every day) then I can start helping my neighbours, or selling.

I really don't see that much difficulties in the lobster-thing. (I am more worried about the cheese, feta and cream our new products need than about the lobsters)

...so...why would you open the craetes and flag the lobster soup instead of just sending the boat away unfilled? I help with lobster soup very rarely and can only fill crates asking for one soup as opposed to 2. But if I know you won't be helping me to fill my lobster soup if I need the help, then sorry, you won't be getting my soup!

Sorry Bobbyrae I know you often help me and for friends I would make an exception if I could. I always feel a bit of a failure sending the boat away and try not to , a bit like giving up on a book half way through even though it is complete rubbish, just cannot do it. I have upgraded the lobster pool now too 🐻🌞🇪🇸

I can assure you that none of your friends will think you are a failure if you send those boats away. We will heap thanks upon you if you do send them away and open sensible crates that we can fill easily and thus move up the leaderboard and get our free gems when we accomplish that leaderboard achivement. :p

Yes -- when I am deciding whether to cast off or accpet a boat, I always l.ook at th 3 crates I will open for neighbors to fill. My general rule is to open 1 crate of each item unless one of the items is abusive (19 loaves of bread? 17 popcorns? 10 creams?) or unless I cannot complete production in time (cheesecakes, fish pies when seagulls are in all my fishing spots).

Casting off dairy/sugar/jam (and now I guess lobster soup) boats is actually WELCOMED by neighbors!! They will thank you for that, and will be more likely to help with other products.

I have also found that neighbors generally DO NOT appreciate it when all 3 crates x 10 dairy or 19 loaves of bread or 11 brown sugars are opened. I know that turns me off :(

This morning I bought ten bacon pies from Boroyob to fill two crates of bacon and egg pies (2 per crate) for a neighbour. I ended up putting up five pies back in my stall since I never seem to get boats requiring bacon and eggs and I don't keep them in my barn as they are always so readily available to buy anyway.

I don't mind doing that for neighbours and will even hunt down popcorn and bread to help neighbours fill those "abusive" crates, perkycox. :) But cream and sugar? Oy vey! Never! lol. Unless I am over run with cream and butter as I am on the odd occasion or two.

You are luckier than I am with the shopping, then -- I have to MAKE the 19 loaves of bread and 17 popcorns to fill abusive crates (which I am happy to do because others have done it for me) :)

:) That's what is great about HD - we all try and help each other. I open one of each crate on every one of my boats to that maybe one of my friends can pick up BSH III that much faster :)

I am actually HAPPY with the new nets. I hated fishing, and often would go days without doing it, just sending Tom to get fillets, or trashing orders needing fish or fish products. I seldom had more than a few fillets at any given time.
Since the update, and using the nets, I now have over two dozen fillets on hand. I put nets in 3 or 4 of the fishing areas, and lobster pots in a couple more. then i actually do fish the remaining open spots.

Going for the achievements isn't the only reason to fish. the other is to have the product on hand. so it matters not whether the fish count toward the book or not, as all i've seen in the net are the two most common kinds, and my book is already complete on those two.

Also, I have some days when I just cannot get to the game as often as I'd like, or don't have the time to spend fishing. As I can now set the nets, and go off and do other stuff, I'm happy with this.

Back to complain again! I have been patient, laboriously making soups, catching lobsters, etc. So here came a boat today to claim them. It took 6 lobster soups and 3 tomato soups and 8 baked potatoes. Can anyone add up the number of hours that it took to produce the resources to make all those things? And what did I get? But you also get coin, xp, and more importantly, boat leadership points! I'm afraid you will get an abundance of green vouchers, and for some tricky boats it may not seem worth it. You might get a gold one for an easy one, who knows!
