The mini game is killing the real essence of COC. It will surely kill the game over time, losing many active players in the process.
It's an additional time consuming game play, making the main village and the clan war out of focus.
Maintaining two different villages takes a lot of effort and time.
Grinding in the main village is already a headache. Adding another one is totally not healthy.

The Builder Base is limited to 3 attack wins per day (for loot). There's no grinding. It's just meant to be a side activity purposely limited so it will take you a long time and you won't waste hours per day on it.

How about no? Anyways, Supercell would never do this, they put in to much work in to it and all the people who spent momey on the base would raise an uproar.
i personally only became active in CoC again because of the Builder Base, it was part of the reason how I got my friend to play it and Boom Beach.

How would SC take without millions of people quitting.
To be honest, I think the "Be-All-And-End-All" is that the Builder Base should remain.
I COMPLETELY understand why you would not want it. I got so sick of looking after two COC accounts that I eventually just gave up. However, taking it away would not only deny Supercell a huge update but also A LOT of the players who are enjoying it!
If you don't want to use a Builder Base because it is taking up too much time, you don't have to! If someone else does (say, a clanmate in the war you are in) then you have no right to stop them!
I refuse, I REFUSE to believe something like the Builder Base can COMPLETELY kill Clan Wars because the base takes very little maintenance and the war lasts 24 hours, of which you attack twice.
Maybe once or twice would someone miss an attack on a war because the Builder Base, but I would more put that down to the person FORGETTING rather than the Builder Base taking up their time.
So, in summary, the Builder Base should NOT be removed. It's a lot of fun for those who enjoy using it and does NOT cause harm to the original base or Clan Wars (why the hell do you think they put in the loot cap?)
If you don't like it so don't play it like everyone.

Don't like it, don't play it. It's pretty simple. Also there are the upgrades that you can do to your main village because of the Builder Base.
Taking 30 minutes tops per day to do the daily challenge isn't bad either. There is also the benefits of the Gem Mine. A few extra gems once it's built. I'm not complaining.
