if you are easily offended, don't join forums to be honest and I am not saying this to be malicious.
Just take everything with a grain of salt. If you get offended by every few posts, it will get unhealthy.
Agreed.......
Mzmflo.... You are such an idiot for saying that!
JUST KIDDING! :o ;)
The smart ♥♥♥ in me couldn't help herself.
I actually find most of people on this thread very nice.
If you need some perspective, visit the CoC side and peruse some of their threads.
I recommend a hazmat suit first.
LOL i am pretty immune to harsh language. I have always been "one of the boys" kind of girl and having been in a male heavy gaming community for so long, you get all sort of immature guys saying really harsh things. This forum is PG compared to what I have been through.
I used to be upset over why random strangers would just come whisper (aka PM) me and say nasty things. I remembered once I got real angry and cried (TRUE STORY!).
After seven years of world of warcraft, and with the player base getting younger and younger, i am pretty immune. On a daily basis if you get people that are being ridiculous, just take it easy, getting angry only meant they succeed in provoking you. If you do not respond to that kind of trigger, they can't do nothing.
I am all ZEN ^_^
Well Holidae, even CoC side are pretty tame compared to this http://us.battle.net/wow/en/forum/
:p
*Sign* and that's why there are very few posts of mods on Hay Day side. CoC clans keep them away.
At least we have Kendra *cheers up*, Raindragon *yay!* and Tinkerbell's happy thoughts ;).
I think change (see: updates) tends to make people a bit on edge. Your initial observation is a good one though, most of the time it's not our intention to make other people feel bad, but when we're passionate about something it's easy for that to happen.
Happy thoughts and Monday folks!
I guess I'm the only one, who's posting anyway, who feels the very same. I'm stunned really at some of the hostile posts such a lovely game can invoke and the ease with which the folks posting them feel about condemning and name calling. Some of the posts have had such venom that it's easy to imagine spit flying right out of my computer. Every one of these hostile posts that I've seen have been accusatory either towards other players for being perceived as greedy or towards SC for some imagined conspiracy to force us to spend diamonds.
I've been on political and religious forums where you expect anger, rage, hostility, arguing, screeching, name calling, etc. but, here? It's sad, very sad. Thankfully, they are relatively few. They have increased quite a bit since the update due to the visibility of who bought what, but that will die down and peace will return.
However, while these sour apples do make a stink, this forum is mostly filled with the most pleasant and humorous bunch of folk, and the mods and staff are equally a joy. It makes for a much more pleasant place for me to spend my time and I've made several internet/KIK connections that I consider real friends.
EDIT: Exactly what I was trying to say. :)
Happy thoughts and Monday to you, too, JPAW.
In my original title post I was to say what is with all the name calling and hostile people not hosts please take note. It was a auto correct error sorry

I totally agree with Annie.
I'm a daily player and reader of the forum.
For the past several weeks, even prior to the update, people have been on edge here.
I noticed that I even tend to "play" the game a little differently because of everything that gets posted here.
Here is a Pooh quote from A.A. Milne (author/creator of Pooh):
“Sometimes the smallest things take up the most room in our hearts.”A.A. Milne
―
Fellow farmers, let's just "chill" play the way you want to play and don't "bother" with the way other people play. If you let it "bother" you too much, it takes all the fun out of the game.
The silly little bear says "it is just a game"
Just my thoughts...as small as they are...on a Monday morning...in my corner of the farm land...
Pooh you are so sweet. I knew there was a reason I liked you.
I think people get passionate about their games. Sometimes a little too much. It's nice to have a forum to blow off steam, but I agree name calling is so totally not necessary. When I rant now and then, it's a stress release, to some how voice my opinion when a game goes down a path I wish it wouldn't. Lets face it, lobster soup boats right after an update is just silly. To make the much anticipated event a boat event, while making those boats impossible to fill was a big disappointment for us passionate people. To me it was a colossal waste of time in a game where time is important. Eventually we won't find them so nerve racking and the lobster pool won't seem too ridiculous. But right now we want to play and becaus of the growing pains in the game, we can't. It's sort of like waiting in line all night to see the opening of a movie or play only to get to the front of the line and find out it is sold out. We want to blame someone else.
But depending on our own level of maturity, we handle it in different ways. Some acceptable , some not. It's best not to take the mean comments to heart, Report any that violate forum standards and revel in the fact that you are not the one being irrational or overly emotional. The Internet breeds trolls and mean spirited people. When I come across them I pity them for having so little joy in their lives and I move on.
anyway that's my philosophy, I guess my own personal circumstances have shown me that life is way to short to feed the trolls or to get bothered by them
Tigg
I feel that the conversation on this forum is pretty negative and people seem especially ungrateful towards SC. Making demands about how the game should work, even though they are only looking at it from there own perspective. It often seems very harsh to me, considering also that this is a free game. But there is also a lot of positive and interesting stuff on this forum.
Can't we all just hold hands and sing Kumbaya!
I don't know...while I do see the occasional negative thread or post here, having been a member of a few other forums of all types, I still think this forum is one of the nicest, most upbeat around. I had to leave one because there were NO nice posts after a while. It was like a breath of fresh air to come here where the number of positive, helpful threads lessens the sting of the negative ones.
Hay day peeps being rude??? Look like you've been on the CoC side of the forum too much. Lol... :)
Yeah- thanks!
And you all are so wonderful- we don't "need" to post much over in the Light Side.
But one thing we do need to remember- offensive things are subjective- what riles me up may not bother someone else- and vice versa.
But of course if anyone ever sees a post that they think is over the line- report it using the triangular shaped icon under the post on the left side. A mod will review it, and take the necessary action. But there have been a few times where posts were reported- and they really weren't bad in a mods opinion. I'm not saying that makes the person who reports it touchy or uptight- just once again- things are subjective.
Happy Farming all!
p;)
You Hayers have it nice.
/Shudders remembering the coc forums in early 2013 (March especially)
Lol, this is going to sound so "sitting on the fence" but I pretty much agree with everyone who has posted here!
Yes, there has been a bit more rudeness around lately,
yes this is a very well mannered forum on the whole, and the people here are generally helpful and lovely,
yes the clash side is far worse in this respect,
Yes there are other gaming forums out there that are far worse!
yes, please report rudeness or any rule breach by tapping the triangle bottom left of a post
Yes hollidae makes me laugh my head off,
Yes, I have very little tolerance for rudeness and general nastiness and will stamp down hard on any examples I come across.

Lol for a moment there i thought my ipad bugged out.... Why the bleep bleep is the font so huge!?? :p
First off, I was not shouting, shouting is when you use all caps, I was merely typing on the font my iPad was set to use on you forums. Secondly, it's a personal attack to tell someone to calm down and do yoga, when that person completely twisted my words around? I guess that's ok though, must be forum buddies? And thanks for the PM, I found your explanation very entertaining.
I think this has something to do with the demographic of the game. In CoC most players are male young adults / teenagers. Here it ranges from children to grannies and most are females, of course we are more gentle and polite towards one another (except for some *cough* like pickles *cough*)
Also the game's nature. CoC is competitive and aggresive (attacking, winning, strategizing), while Hay Day tends to be more like maintaining, there's no big jealousy or envy towards those who are higher level or have farms that are more beautiful than ours. It can become inspiration!
The way I read the original post she was not directing it at any one person, just a general comment. The fact that Morph reacted and posted is telling. You usually are guilty of the behavior if you think the post is talking about or directly to you.
Something to think about.
Telling someone to calm down and what to do is not exactly a nice thing to do either. Nobody likes to be TOLD what to do.
I ditto much of what Cricks, TinkerBell and others have said already (Sorry too lazy to scroll down lol).
I've been around the internet since oh... yeep 20 years at least. It takes all kinds. People feel safe behind a screenname and miles between themselves and a lot of the posters. It's a shame too. I am sure every one of us have come off "not looking good" to others at one time or another. The ones who keep doing it over and over or allow themselves to get too involved are the ones to watch for.
And I shall leave you with the old rule...."Don't feed the trolls!" (they'll come back if you do).
Quack
Had a respected member and frequent poster on this forum do this to me the other day in response to a post about getting a lobster boat order within an hour of the update. It rankled a bit, and inspired a "bet it would be different if it was you" thought or two, but rather than get into a silly and fruitless war of words with a stranger half a world away, I sought out my Zen place, filled it with happy thoughts, and went back to farming. After all it IS a game. There's no need to blow a gasket over it.
Since then however, reading through the various threads, I've found that I was not the only one who felt the sting of futility over unfillable orders during a special event, so there was a small sense of vindication in a way. Rather than the "Calm down & cast off" admonition received for a legit grouse, an empathetic "Wow, what a bummer. I feel your pain, fellow HayDayer" would have sufficed. We may not always agree on things, but it sure helps if we try to be understanding because at one point or another we've all either been there or will be there.
Happy farming and loads of diamond filled mystery boxes to all!:)

With two days wait time on the net maker and the pool, & 34 hours on the soup maker, the only way to fill the order is to spend 144 diamonds to speed up completion. Even with SC's gift of 3 diamonds for updating, that's 141 hard earned shiny rocks that need to be found or purchased outright (which I don't do) to fill my next order.
Thy giveth (a piddling amount) with one hand, but taketh (a great sum) with the other. NOT COOL. This boat gets the heave-ho before it hits the dock!
Calm down now! If you think about it logically for SC to introduce the update without introducing the boat orders would mean yet another maintenance shutdown and update in a couple of days time to introduce boat orders, and probably a whole lot more work for the programmers. Just cast the boats off until you're ready, don't worry about it there will be plenty more. I bought the soup kitchen which was probably a bad move because I don't think I can afford anything else at the moment, so I've got nothing to go in my soup Ha!

Dear LadyJEM5,
If this was the post that upset you I am truly sorry. It was intended to be an 'arm round the shoulder hug' type of calm down now, and certainly not a 'don't be silly' type of calm down now. It's easy to forget when these new things are implemented that SC just can't always stagger the introductions, and so these irritating situations arise where we are asked for things that we cannot possibly have yet. We are 'all in the same boat' sorry about the pun, I was just trying to stop you from taking it too personally but obviously it got lost in translation, and I do apologise. I did repost on another thread later on that I had given this advice to you and then SC had made it worse when the double vouchers for boat orders came in, thereby 'rubbing salt in the wound' so I do feel your pain, and I did get four orders for lobster soup during the boat event. I just hired Tom it was the simplest solution.
I am sending you a GC friend request and really hope you will accept it so that I can make it up to you by helping with your future boats. Xx
It's hard to gauge what people feel and what the emotions are from words on a screen.
I read woozle's as more of a friendly kind of thing. Of course there have been people like you describe that make it sound like it was your fault for taking on the boat (some people don't know that you can cast off boats) but the whole cast off sugar/cream/xxx boat thing... I am on the fence about.
In the end though... the best advice I can give is some I see a lot here from Kendra and Tinkerbell (hello nice sweet mods...)- Just play the way you want to; don't worry about how others play unless it interferes or they are breaking rules. If people delete or get annoyed based on a game, then you may want to think twice about even being friends with them. Some do take this almost like a competition where "winning" is important.
Then there are those who just don't like specific kinds of boats. I send off a lot lol many times ice cream ones too.
I find the larger font size easier to read. Where does it state that mods can tell posters what size font to use? I can understand not using all caps but really, mods have no right to dictate about a larger font size.
And in my opinion, on this forum, you will find different rules for different posters.
The third sentence in the posted rules covers this. Review at your leisure.
I agree in that some posters don't get the smackdown like others for the same offense but such is life.
One cop will give you a warning and another will give you a citation for the same offense.
Ducky, When I did your ice cream boat the other day I put the last two cones you needed in my shop and changed my farm name to 'ice cream for ducky'. It was the only thing in my shop at the time, so of course one of my friends came and bought it! Grrrr...
Edit: Don't worry everyone, it was somebody who doesn't use the forum!
(And I'm just pulling Ducky's leg because I told him to get going full steam ahead making ice cream the other day)
Wow. I must not be reading the same threads that some of you are reading since I haven't come across the hostility and name calling as yet.
What we all should try our very best to do is to remember to always assume good intent when reading forum posts. I read woozie's comment also as being a friendly, "Oh now, don't worry about it just send that sucker on its way" kind of a post. But after reading Ladygems' comment I saw the "Calm down NOW!!!" side of it too. :p
By the way, I wish the font size were bigger. Would be so much easier to read.
Of course they don't! And my reason for posting that was to show that this game is full of little irritations but it's not worth while getting wound up about them, Just have a little Grrr... And move on. I lost 18 diamonds moving a blackberry bush this morning, but I'm not going to start a thread about it. There we are, that will probably upset somebody too.....
I feel you there i did a 19 diamond on a cacao then trying to tap the picture of the fish away lost another five.
Honestly i think i said it very early in the thread, if one wants to social in forums like these, be prepared to have great tolerance, wont survive real long if the tiniest bit will make you upset or think oh this community is against me.
We take the feedback be it good or bad and digest upon it. Trolls cant hit back if we dont respond.
Well it just upset me so there! I lost diamonds speeding up a blackberry bush but didn't realise it was 18 diamonds until you just advised me. THANK YOU! There. I'm upset and I shouted.
18 diamonds. oh SOVL!!! 18 diamonds. Is that really what it costs? I could have hired Tom for 18 diamonds and have change left over. darn!!
[QUOTE=Woozle;892197]Horrid girl! I shall unfriend you immediately for winding me up! Xx
Xx
I try my best lol. However I did actually buy ice cream from you. Cannot return, it's melted. X
Telling someone to calm down and take up yoga is considered a personal attack. It's not contributing to the discussion in any way at all. If you feel someone is twisting your words prove them wrong with constructive critisism.
I strongly recommend you take Tink's advice on board and also reflect on your attitude towards mods as that is not tolerated.
Mod's decisions are final.
Wozzle i thank you for your kind words.

Hey, I'd even let the Peachie have one of your espressos -- if it came with a can o'milk mixed in!! :) Don't want her to get Woozy taking a drink from Woozle. That would be, as the Brits say, VERY bad form!! ;)
Sorry, i post in wrong thread.

Dear Woozle,
Thank you for the gracious and sincere apology, and please know that it has been received and accepted with equally heartfelt sincerity.
I'll be looking forward to accepting your friend request as from the very beginning when I joined the forum I had admired your outlook and fairness toward others in your posts. I think it was for that reason primarily that my interpretation of your reply took me so aback.
As wonderful as social media can be for expanding horizons and friendships, the ultimate lack of face to face interaction leads to silly misunderstandings as demonstrated between us. I'm so glad that it has been resolved and will consider myself among the fortunate who can call Woozle a friend.:)
I hope that our little difference of opinion will be able to serve as an example and as an inspiration of how to resolve these sort of inevitable 'tempest in a teacup' issues for others who may find themselves faced with a similar scenario. Wisdom, maturity, and tolerance will always triumph over finger-pointing, name-calling, and pettiness.
Cheers for leading the way!:):)
BTW, I'm still casting off those ridiculous lobster soup boats!

Ha ha, we Brits do say that...well...I do.
The espresso and kitten thing was something I added on Facebook. It was a sign outside a pub which said....
Parents are expected to take full responsibility for children. Any unattended children will be given an espresso and a free kitten.... Ha ha. And I know Woozle would do this to my twins....I know it LOL.
It was in a coffee shop. It simply said: "Unattended children will be given espresso and a free puppy"!
Metamorphosis - What a lovely bright 'butterfly' of a thread this has become!
Thank you LadyJEM5 For your post and your p.m. Looking forward to being great friends and neighbours!
