So, does anyone use this troop and if so, got any good user content to share to show how they can be effective?
I am thinking they are seriously underutilised but dont know where this is with good reason or not....

Sometimes I get them in the CC for overnight defence, they do wonders :). On offence though, not the best.
;)
I don't think I've ever used 1.
8 housing space is a bloody rip off!! not powerful enough for cups, not cheap enough for farming..
I'm TH8, and I've NEVER SEEN ONE. I guess that speaks volumes on her use.
I will make her from time to time if I am Barching as a donation troop.
I spent the DE to get her to level 2 (I am TH 8) and I feel like it was one of the biggest disappointments in my unit upgrade histories.
She is far too expensive for what you get. She is great on D but so are dragons and archers - which at this point in the game is much cheaper (its very easy for me to keep my elixir storages fun)
Personally I am hoping she gets another buff. I though this last update she would (hence her level 2). I really like her aesthetically and the concept of the Valkyrie but she's a big disappointment on the battle field.
Don't get me wrong throw in 2-3 healers and a bunch of wizards in tow and you'll do fine but the cost of doing that doesn't justify doing more than just for kicks
I agree with the sentiment thus far...
Not good enough to hunt trophies, too expensive (and time consuming) to farm with...
No, but I was seriously considering getting her upgraded as that's one troop i've mostly ignored and I suspect I am missing out there.
No, in my opinion, they are worse then hogs before update
In my clan, a guy showed a defense about a farming attack and the valk in the clan castle saved it with the splash damage.
Used them only on defence. High damage, high health and splash damage. Can't be taken out with lightning spells.
On offence they are just like super giants with extra health and damage.
Today one of my clan mates shared a replay of a guy using them. It looked really ineffective and the guy got 49%. Was the first time I actually saw the valkyrie being used.
Never used them. I have watched a few vids and I can see the potential, as they can smash open several wall segments / compartments at a time with their splash.
From an upgrade perspective, what puts me off is the huge training cost increase relative to the boost.
L1 > L2 Valk increases the training cost 43%
For that cost increase you get +10% HP and +12% DPS.
Compare L1 > L2 Hog (for example) increase training cost = 17%, HP increase 15%, DPS increase 17%.
I believe Minion figures were similar to Hog when I looked. And this is ignoring cost/time to upgrade, let alone whether the unit is actually any good. The upgrade is too expensive too early.
She does great together with giant-wizard-healer-minion combo. Not cheap, but fun.
I'm not sure I'll upgrade my dark barracks straight away when I get TH8......
Once i got my dark barracks to lvl 3 i jumped for the lvl 4 golem upgrade. Ive used her a couple times but she isnt worth the cost in DE and the time it takes to make one.
Nope her train time is to high to go with my army is use probaly 1 at the most dude to that fact
Not worth the housing space... Simple math. The Valk is the next candidate to become "Hogged" by Supercell -- power increased and housing space diminished. If/when that happens, you'll see the Valk.:cool::cool:
The wife and I just upgraded the Dark Barracks in our twin accounts to where we can use Valkyries, so we've been experimenting with them on defense.
It's been a mixed bag, but the return on investment isn't looking great, though we're still using them now.
There was a time where two Valks and two five star Wizards singlehandedly ate a 20 Giant rush about fifteen seconds into an attack and then knocked out the low level BK and AQ right after that (I think the guy just dropped the heroes because he was so stunned and wanted to see what would happen as he had no chance of stealing anything at that point).
They often don't perform very well, but they do buy time for the Wizards to get in their shooting stance while having more offensive potential than giants, which counts for something. Does it count for 70 dark elixir? Probably not.
The biggest disappointment is when she does her whirly attack at that one stray barbarian or archer who's just a smidge out in front of a big pack and ends up wasting her splash damage. "Lookit, Hildegarde, how many times do we need to go over this? You're supposed to hit the pack of 'em with that there axe! The pack of 'em, Hildegarde!" Her slow attack speed can make this absolutely ruinous as she'll get smoked right after that. That's my biggest complaint by far - limited AI with a slow attack speed negates the splash damage too often.
I don't know if she has much hope on offense unless she gets a signature special ability or statistical overhaul, but her defense would be improved by either of the following:
1) As mentioned, faster attack speed. Her hits completely overkill archers, for example, but she takes forever to windup for the second swing, so it's really inefficient for her crowd control duties. If she did the same damage per second but launched weaker hits more often, it'd be a big help.
2) Maybe she could do knockback hits against tier 1's like mortars/bombs. I'm afraid she'd still waste it on that one barbarian out front, though.
You'd have to be careful with the play balance as she could become a whirling dervish that ended all hopes of farming with BAG type forces, but those seem to be ideas that are at least worth exploring.
I want to vote both "No" and "She looks like Brienne from GoT"!!! Damn single choice poll ;)
After spending some time carefully studying the recent upgrades, and duly noting the witch and hog buffs, I am starting the valkyrie to level 2, and might do three if it is allowed at TH8 (can't remember, can anyone help me out there?). Hopefully, for once I will be able to take advantage of the supposed OP troops.
I only use them for taking CC troops out only on occasions i bring them though
supercell should reduce her cost and housing space just so some people use her. they could also boost her HP and damage, then, its nerf time!
Thanks for the responses guys n gals...it seems that she may indeed get a buff if she is so unloved...Id try her if she was cheaper but she is not as good as 7 L5 minions...
I can see the plash damage as an attractive weapon against bunched cc troops though...
To solve her problem and keep the spirit of the unit, they need to double the range of her attack. So when she swings she can hit 2-3 buildings at the same time even over walls. That will justify her cost and make her useful. Give her a bigger axe! :D
- roro
My idea for fixing the Valk was to give her a boomerang axe attack, for attacking air units.
Or maybe a rush, where she could clear attacking distance very quickly (Starcraft Zealot Charge).
Possibly she is a great anti-hog defense.
I think her splash damage is the least useful dark elixir attribute any of the troops have received this far, despite it being alright on defence. I upgraded her to level 2 and it was almost no difference when attacking a base.
I am still lvl 1 on these babes!
Not so usefull I think the idea that they could hit any target around her is nice but in practice not so usefull.
Minions golem witch and now Hog riders are really good. So I prefer to use my DE on them atm.
Lol I've never even trained one... :p
I agree they are fairly useless. But, the ai is really good. On eggshell bases, she will position herself so she will hit a building behind her and in front of her. I think it could be a good troop at some point but right now, it just doesn't work. A speed increase is a must. Maybe a decrease in training time?
They can be good in defence but in attacking they dont impress me
never botherd to get one
never seen 1 even on defense but might upgrade to lvl 2 which is maxed for th8 because I suspect they will get buffed next.
I use her when im bored
I used to use one of her as a aide to my farming army, she does surprisingly well if you send her after barbarians, it's good to have a troop that packs some power. I recommend trying it, only 8 space taken away, and some extra power. I've stopped now due to it being a bit too costly but it was a fine way to make use of the Valkyrie before.
If you look at some of Unity Sharp's videos in his DE farming thread he uses them on offence to increase DPS and reduce overall training times a bit. Apparently he figures the extra time makes up for the DE cost. They would also work well with his strategy of using CC troops to pull his attacking army in. He is the only person I have seen build them regularly though, and even then it is only one at a time.
Come to think of it, that was from before the hog upgrades too, he may have switched over to those by now.
I used them a bit to replace giants as they have more hp on level 2 and do more damage, plus it helped save me elixir. What i didnt like was that they, like wizards, seem to just run all over the place. Even if i blow a hole right in front of them they just run to the sides. Also i do like the fact that giants target defense, so march on the hog riders
I used them for a while, farming around 2000 cups +/- 50. Mainly, because I was upgrading barracks and conserving elixer, so I used them as a kind of goblin/giant hybrid i.e. they can tank somewhat, and/or help collect resources - as above, it helped cut down the total army training time, and I wasn't farming for DE I was farming for 6M elixer - typically, I'd only have 1-2 in my army as their training time is quite long and I used one barracks for valks, one for minions.
They did have the odd "hero moment", like when a single one charged into the middle of a base and wiped out a heap of clan castle archers, or took out low-level wizard tower(s) easily (once, a single valk killed two wiz towers at once), but those were very few and far in between lots of very average moments.
Valkyries are good but noone takes the time to learn how to use them.
One valk in the cc can totally ruin a Barch attack.
