Simultaneously press the power (top of iPad) and home button (circle button). The image will be stored in your Photos app.
The signal is a screen flicker and the camera shutter sound.
Google is your friend.

btw, sometimes depends on how old your device are, it sometimes takes a few tries. For example, alot of the old iphone like iphone 4 on ios 6 have a problem with home button having no sensitivity. so everytime you press both the power and home button together, it doesnt work. but so far, i have never encounter that issue on the ipad.
Also, just to double check, any SS made are automatically stored to your photograph. So check your album on your ipad to see if you might actually snapped some...
The power button may be a tad sensitive. Try to press on it lightly or hold for maybe less than 3 seconds then quickly hit the Home button. Let go immediately as soon as you press the Home button. You should see a white flash (simulating a flash camera...).
I find that works well for me.
That's what I'd like to do, but I don't know how!! help!! :)
The middle row of buttons... There is two globes... The square button after that is the one you use.
