New concept for loot limit
After seeing all the community response to the update it seems the main issue is the broken loot system.
The Versus battle mode was an idea I had a long time ago in 2015 even before the TH11 update. Dont hit me for that. I doubt that SC has implemented is because of my thread, but it gives good explanation on the advantages of this mode for trophy pushing:

The problem:
So why did this mode fail on the nightbase so hard and what are the issues:
a) This mode was meant for solving trophy pushing in titan+ and was never meant as a loot system.
b) Wait times are not in line with build times. The initial build times are 10 minutes, but you have to wait 1 day to get loot again.
c) Army build times are rather low and attacks are very fast (often done in less than a minute) beause of high dps units. While on the main village attacks start really slow at th2 and become extremely fast at th10/11 (SC already pulled the break at th11 with the warden) this is not the case with the village. There is also no nexting allowing many attacks per day.
d) Players have been all hyped up wanting to try the new mode all day long. 1 hour before the update I asked myself "is this the huge update that will keep be busy for another 3 years" and after 10 minutes I am done with attacking and I am back to usual business.
What does not work:
What does not work with the versus mode is removing the loot limit or increasing it so much it does not become an issue an more for most players. The consequence in that would be players stuck in a higher league to drop trophies to get back to a lower league without using troops to be able to win every fight there.
Also removing loot cap is an economical problem for SC as it is the only income from the average players that are not hardcore gemmers.
So what is my solution:
a) After the daily loot bonus has been reached use the 24 hour timer only to reset the 3 attack win bonus. The single attack bonus is reset to 10 minutes (builder hall 2) to 30 minutes (builder hall 5). Future builder hall level could increase this value up to 40 to 45 minutes.
b) Loot per single attack is reduce (especiall only lower levels with less waittime).
c) The clock tower should boost the single attack timer. You get 1 boost per 8 hours for free (15 minutes 4x speed, 1 hour boosts for 40 gems like usual). Like building troops in the main village the single attack timer should start the moment you start your attack, so you dont have to hurry.
d) Attacking lower builder halls should give loot penalty like usual to avoid bots dropping down in leagues bashing weak bases endlessly.
e) Troop build time can be removed (serves no value in my opinion)
