Can someone give me advice?

I am a serious "newbie" in this game. I haven't even played the actual game yet. I have been under a shield since I started. I've been trying to keep up with the forums, and I think that I may have done everything wrong. I think I upgraded too fast. I may have focused on the wrong areas. I can't even figure out how to take a screenshot to get some pointers. I think my first mistake was getting the extra shields and not just throwing myself in the game instead of building up all this needless anticipation. Now my shield is about to run out and I'm really panicky about this whole thing. Once I learned that I won't lose my buildings after being attacked, I became less scared of that. But I'm still not real comfortable with the idea of attacking people. So I guess what I'm wondering is this...can this game be played without attacking anyone? Is it even worth it? Will I find that once I actually start playing, it isn't as frightening as I am making it out to be? Should I just delete clash of clans and go back to hay day where I don't have to worry about raiding someone's farm and stealing their produce? :) And if I do that, will my village still be visible to you all who are still playing?
I'm sure that so many of you are completely disgusted with me right now...me too! But I would really appreciate any advice anyone might have for me...other than "suck it up, little sissy girl!"...cuz I keep hearing that in my head anyway. :)

hey there, it's just part of the game. you can't make enough resources from the pumps and mines to cover upgrading but once you start playing online you should love it. all is explained here for starting out

if you're not planning to attack anyone, you should stick to hayday..

and yes, your village will still be visible and available for raids even if you delete the app from your device.

I am at TH5, level 21. I have 4 gold mines at level 6, 3 elixir pumps at level 5 and 1 at lvl 6. A lvl 2 mortar, 2 lvl 5 cannons & 1 lvl 4 cannon. 3 level 4 archer towers. Is this about average for someone who has yet to even come out from under a shield, ever?

I have checked out flammy's thing and it was very helpful. I just feel two things...1) that I am just some sitting duck that is gonna get blasted regularly. And 2) that I will offend someone if I attack them. I know...I'm a wuss. And even if I do, I don't think I will be very good at it...I'm not even very successful in attacking the goblins. :)

1. You will get raided. It's part of the game.
2. It's part of the game to raid others. Do it often. You can't succeed by simply living off your mines and collectors. Some of your raids will fail. Build more troops and try again.

Okay, okay...I think I just needed to see my thoughts written down and out of my head...

no worries...I'm just gonna "sack" up and see where this game takes me. Sorry for the public panic attack...won't happen again.

if i were you, i would restart from scratch and not waste gems on shields (and the gems that will complete your first buildings)... unless you have used real money... happy gaming!

I did spend ten bucks. :( I thought you couldn't start from scratch? Am I misunderstanding?

it's just a game, relax. give the battle a go and see what happens.

Attacking is the fun part. Watch Flammy's LP to get a feel for what it's like to attack other villages. We'd all rather not be successfully attacked, but it doesn't ruin our day when it happens. Build a strong base, not anxiety.
