How does loot distribution works?

Can anyone explain me?

Is it 10% of your total gold and 100k maximum per collectot minus penalty?
What happens if i have storages of different size? For example 1kk and 2kk ones. Lets say i have 100k gold only, does it means both storages will have 5k loot or less upgraded one will have less?

I am in a process of going from 2 to 3 storages and need to know how to defend and if its worth it in general granted its rarely 100% full

I have one 1mill capacity elix storage and one 2mill capacity elix storage.
The smaller one was earlier placed in front of my TH to attract TH snipers.
Out of the 200k available, people got about 67k from the outer storage so it is based on the capacity of the storages.

i.e. lvl10 storage allows attackers to take 1/3rd of 200k and lvl11 storage holds the rest (2/3rds of 200k elixir).
